Chapter One (Elena)
"Okay. My cousin is coming to stay with me and Jeremy for the summer. Damon you better behave." He let out an overdramatic gasp at my words.
"You're telling me to behave? Me? Not Stefan the self sacrificial, good hearted, well behaved vampire with hero hair? Unbelievable!" He threw his hands up in the air dramatically as he turned around on his heel and strutted out of the room.
I facepalmed, and I'm pretty sure that Stefan did the same. Why did Damon have to be such a drama queen?
"Don't worry. I'll make sure he behaves. When is your cousin supposed to get here?"
"Tonight, so I'll introduce you to him tomorrow." I'm surprised Stefan is even talking to me at all. He seemed pretty upset when we broke up, and he doesn't seem to be any happier that Damon and I are together.
I understand that he's hurt, but why can't he at least try to be happy for me? I mean it's kind of selfish when you think about it. It's like he's possessive and can never let me go or his heart will break.
"Elena you realize that I'm standing right here right?" I looked up to see him standing in front of me looking really hurt.
Crap.
I totally said all of that out loud.
"Stefan I-"
"Save it Elena. You know, I've been trying to keep my cool around you and Damon, I've really been trying, but it hurts me. It hurts me so much to see you, the girl I fell in love with, break up with me for my brother. And for you to call me selfish for not being happy for you is ridiculous. I really thought you were better than that." He then too turned on his heel and walked out of the room.
And I was left there standing awkwardly in their living room.
"Oh and I forgot," Stefan said as he walked back into the room,"get out Elena."
.....
Once I made it home it was almost nine at night. Which meant that Stiles would be getting here soon.
Maybe I should get a room ready for him? I mean he's sharing with Jeremy so Jeremy should've already done most of the work, but you never know with him so I have to check and make sure he actually did it.
When I walked into his room I was completely and utterly blown away though. Not only did Jeremy get the room ready, he decorated it too.
There were Star Wars posters covering half the room, with a bed that I don't know how Jeremy managed to even get in here. He moved the tv so it was in the front of the room that way they could both watch, and he even got one of his old play stations out and everything.
"Too much?" I heard a voice behind me, so I turned to see Jeremy standing behind me.
"This is definitely too much," I paused for dramatic effect,"but it's perfect for Stiles, you did a good job."
The thing is. Jeremy has always been really close with Stiles. You might even think that they were the siblings and I was the cousin if you took a quick enough glance.
I'm 18 years old, Stiles is 17, and Jeremy is 16. Which places Stiles right in the middle of the two of us. I never really got close with Stiles the way Jeremy did.
They facetime four times a week even if it's just to update each other on what's going on with each of them.
Here's a funny story actually.
Flashback
I was just trying to make a smoothie after my run when suddenly I heard a scream and a thud come from upstairs.
Of course being that we lived in Mystic Falls, I assumed that he was getting attacked by a vampire or something, so on instinct I grabbed the wooden spatula off of the counter and ran upstairs only to find something so ridiculous that I looked like a crazy spatula lady.
Jeremy was on the floor laughing hysterically at something.
"Jeremy you good?" I asked him as I helped him off the floor.
"Yeah I'm all good. Stiles just scared the crap out of me and made a corny pun about it."
"I didn't know you two still talked." I heard a gasp of offense come from the phone at my words.
"Wow Elena. That's a way to treat family." Jeremy grabbed his laptop and turned it towards me.
There Stiles was in the same room he's always lived in, and in the same dorky flannels that he seems to love.
"Sorry Stiles. Also you look different. Can't figure out what it is though."
"It's the hair. I finally grew it out and now I'm getting girls phone numbers under my door. At my house!" That caused Jeremy to laugh so hard again that he fell on the floor once more.
"Hey! You can't laugh at my success in the lady department. I even have a girlfriend right now."
Wow. Stiles Stilinski got a girlfriend. Didn't know he had it in him.
"Yeah and get this. It's Lydia freaking Martin."
My jaw dropped.
"The girl that you've been crushing on since elementary school? That Lydia freaking Martin?" He nodded excitedly.
"Yup. I mean I kind of saved her life, and you know how girls love the heroic type." Wow. I guess I enjoyed talking to him too.
Guess he just had that kind of effect on people.
"Well Stiles, I gotta go finish what I was doing, but it was nice to see you."
We both said bye, and I left the room. Almost immediately after I heard them both hysterically laughing at each other again.
Flashback Ends
He was so excited for Stiles to get here, and if they're that close over the phone than I wonder what it's going to be like once they're in the same house together.
Wish me luck.
With two hyperactive teenage boys living in my house I'm going to need it.
