Chapter 5
Hongjoong and Yunho were in one of the training arena's, refining their sword fighting skills when the door opened, and someone walked in. They both stopped and Yunho stepped closer to Hongjoong, gripping his sword tightly and watching the man closely. The man's clothes were a little odd and Yunho was pretty sure he was a servant, but once again, you can never be too careful. The man bowed down quickly and Hongjoong nudged Yunho slightly, trying to get him to relax a little as it was clear the man wasn't a threat. He doesn't understand why he's guard has been so much more uptight lately, but he wants him to relax a little bit.
"Your Highness. Your father has arrived home and has requested both of your presence in the grand hall," the man said. Hongjoong frowned and shifted nervously, glancing to his right at Yunho before looking back to the man.
"Thank you. You're dismissed," he said. The man nodded and bowed down before leaving quickly. Hongjoong's heart started to pound and he turned to Yunho quickly.
"You need to go. You can come back tomorrow, but for now I want you gone," he said quickly. Yunho could tell that Hongjoong was scared and he knew why. They had an order, and they didn't go through with it. The King can't really do anything bad to Hongjoong as he's the Prince, but he can definitely punish Yunho.
"I'm not going anywhere Hongjoong. I'm your guard and I will stay with you until I absolutely can't," Yunho said firmly. He knows if he were to leave, Hongjoong would be in even more trouble from his father and what type of protector would he be if he did that.
"Yunho, he knows we came back earlier than we should've, and he's probably been informed that the deal was never sealed. It's been 6 hours, a letter could've been sent easily," Hongjoong said. He knows Yunho will be in trouble and he doesn't want him getting hurt, just like he didn't want Wooyoung getting hurt.
"I don't care, let's go," Yunho shrugged, sheathing his sword, and fixing up his coat.
"Yunho, he's going to hurt you," Hongjoong said worriedly.
"I know, but I knew that before we left. It's not like I haven't been punished before. He can't hurt me too much because he knows I need to look after you," Yunho said with a shrug.
"But he shouldn't be hurting you at all Yunho, you haven't done anything wrong," Hongjoong said sadly.
"There's nothing we can do. He's the King and your father, his word is the law. If I run away, it will just make things worse," Yunho pointed out. He knows how much it hurts Hongjoong when anyone is punished, especially one of them, but there's nothing the Crown Prince can do to stop it. There was one time when San was given a task by the King and he couldn't do it, so he was beaten and left chained in the dungeon of the castle for two days. Yunho was the one sent to release him, and it shattered his heart to see the younger like that. Hongjoong frowned but knew there was nothing he could do to change Yunho's mind.
"Come on," he said quietly. The two of them left and quickly made their way to the grand hall. When they walked inside, the King was sitting on his throne, talking to someone that Hongjoong once again didn't recognize, while the Kings three bodyguards stood around him. Hongjoong remained calm on the outside, although on the inside his heart was pounding and he was trying not to panic.
"You're dismissed," the King said, and the man left swiftly. Yunho glanced at Hongjoong, noticing the pretty well-hidden fear in his eyes. For anyone who wasn't as close to the Prince as he is, they wouldn't be able to notice it as Hongjoong's mask he had up, hid it well.
"Father," Hongjoong said, keeping his voice even as he walked with Yunho over to stand in front of the throne. The king looked up and Hongjoong fought the urge to flex his hands nervously at the look on his face.
"Hongjoong, lovely day today isn't it," the King said.
"It is," Hongjoong said slowly, waiting to see where this was going.
"You had a job today didn't you? What was it," he asked.
"I was to go into town and negotiate the price of the grapes we are supplied for the wine," Hongjoong said, fighting the urge to glance at Yunho.
"Indeed, it was. Image my surprise when I received a letter informing me you ran out in the middle of the meeting," he said, rising to his feet.
"I'm sorry father, but there was an issue I had to tend to," Hongjoong said.
"And what was this issue that you deemed so important that you disregarded my orders," the King asked, walking down the few steps towards them. Yunho glanced over at Hongjoong worriedly. There is no way they can tell him about what happened with Wooyoung.
"We heard screams. There was someone in trouble, so we checked it out and made sure they were ok," Hongjoong said.
"And you couldn't return to finish the negotiations," the King asked.
"We needed to make sure they got home safe and by then there was no point going back," Hongjoong lied.
"I gave you one duty for today Hongjoong. If you're going to be the future King, you need to be able to do things quickly and efficiently," the King said, before turning his attention to Yunho. Hongjoong heart started racing and he glanced to Yunho who remained stoic and strong.
"You, come here and kneel," the King said. Yunho quickly did as asked, moving forwards, and kneeling down in front of the Prince. The king walked around him in a circle, looking him up and down and Hongjoong slowly clenched his fist closed. He didn't like that look, not at all. His father stopped in front of the kneeled guard and leant forwards, pulling the sword from Yunho's belt.
"Father," Hongjoong said quickly, watching worriedly. The man ignored him and held up the sword, running his finger over it gently. Yunho remained kneeling with his eyes on the ground, hoping Hongjoong wouldn't do anything stupid.
"Jeong Yunho, my sons personal guard, one of my most trusted knights," he said. Yunho stayed quiet once again, knowing it wasn't an invitation for him to talk.
"You're supposed to protect Hongjoong and you're supposed to keep him on track, make sure he does what he's supposed to," the King said. He slowly lowered the sword and placed the hilt below Yunho's chin, tilting it up. Hongjoong desperately wanted to run forwards and push his father away from his friend but he knew he couldn't, so he stayed silent.
"I gave him a job and therefor you one. Who cares about a measly low life from town? Whatever was happening, they probably deserved it," the King spat. Yunho finally lifted his eyes up from the ground, moving them up to glare at the man above him. Wooyoung didn't deserve that, any of that. Just because of his status, doesn't mean he deserves any less than anyone else. The King's eyes narrowed before he swung his arm back and a few seconds later his head snapped to the side and there was a sharp searing pain in his cheek. Hongjoong yelped and rushed forwards as his father swung the sword at Yunho. He heard Yunho gasp and he quickly stepped in front of him. Yunho held back a groan as he saw the Prince's legs in front of him. This is what he meant when he said not doing anything stupid.
"What are you doing. Move," the King told Hongjoong. Hongjoong flinched slightly at his fathers' tone but remained where he was.
"He didn't do anything wrong father," he said quickly.
"I won't ask again. Move Kim Hongjoong," the man said angrily. Yunho quickly squeezed Hongjoong's ankle, trying to convey that he wanted him to move. Hongjoong felt Yunho's hand on his ankle but he didn't move. He didn't want him to get hurt. It was only when he felt the grip tighten that he remembered Yunho's words from earlier. He promised he wouldn't do anything. His heart broke slightly, but he stepped off to the side.
"I will deal with you later Hongjoong. For now," the King turned back to the kneeling boy and Hongjoong bit his bottom lip nervously.
"You have a job Yunho. In future I hope you learn and fulfil that job," the King said.
"Yes, your Majesty," Yunho said quietly, looking back down at the floor.
"Cuff him and take him to the dungeon. A night down there should suffice," the King. Hongjoong's heart skipped a beat at his father's words. All this for helping someone?
"Father, you can't be serious," Hongjoong cried out in outrage. His father turned to him sharply, his eyes seeming to burn with anger. Yunho quickly held out his arms, wanting to draw the attention back to himself and not the prince, which he did successfully. Two of the Kings guards moved forwards and cuffed his hands before pulling him to his feet.
"Yunho," Hongjoong said softly and worriedly. Yunho just sent him a small reassuring smile as he was dragged from the room. Hongjoong was angry, furious at his father. He knew it was going to happen, but it didn't make it any less frustrating and unfair.
"Father, he didn-."
"ENOUGH," he yelled, cutting Hongjoong off completely. He strode forwards quickly and Hongjoong shied back but he grabbed his shirt and pulled him forwards.
"You disgust me sometimes you know that. My own son, soft and gullible. That person in trouble probably just wanted to get a good look at the Crown Prince or could've been someone who wanted to kill you. Then what? Once I'm gone the throne would be left to that useless idiot," the King said. Hongjoong stayed quietly, not looking up to meet his father's eyes. His free hand reached up and wrapped around Hongjoong's throat, making him close his eyes and tense but he didn't squeeze.
"You disappoint me Hongjoong," he said quietly and Hongjoong felt his hand tighten slightly, but it didn't cut off his air.
"You are not to go near the dungeons," he said before shoving Hongjoong back. He stumbled and tripped, falling on his back, and smashing his hip.
"Do better," the King said before turning around, clearly dismissing him. Hongjoong quickly got to his feet and left the room, feeling panic bubble up inside him. He paused outside the door and tried to take a breath to calm down, but it didn't work. He needed to find someone, and he quickly. He hurried off down the halls, walking quickly towards the kitchens, somewhere he could find the person he needs. When he got to the kitchen, he swung the door open and stepped inside. All of the servants stopped what they were doing and froze, clearly not expecting the Crown Prince to show up there. His eyes searched through the room before they landed on the person he was looking for. Seonghwa frowned slightly as his eyes met Hongjoong. The younger looked frazzled and on the verge of panic which worried him. Hongjoong is usually very good at hiding his emotions, especially when around people throughout the castle. Hongjoong let out a breath and walked forwards quickly, stopping in front of Seonghwa.
"I need you. My bath won't make itself," he said, his tone a little cold. Seonghwa didn't take the tone to heart, if anything it made him more worried about the other boy. He quickly stopped what he was doing and nodded, bowing down to keep up the appearance.
"Of course, sorry your Highness," he said. They both quickly turned and walked from the kitchens. Hongjoong's breathing picked up the minute they left the room and Seonghwa glanced at him worriedly. Hongjoong quickly grabbed his hand and pulled him down the hall, shocking him completely. Hongjoong doesn't like to risk Seonghwa getting hurt, but this time he seemed frantic. Seonghwa thought he was taking him back to his room to talk, but he was shocked once again when he was tugged sideways, and he was suddenly pulled into the library that no one really uses. Hongjoong quickly tugged Seonghwa to the back of the room, behind all of the shelves and hugged him tightly. He wanted to get back to his room so he knew Seonghwa would be safe, but he couldn't get there in time before the panic overtook him. He tucked his face into Seonghwa's neck, breathing deeply to try and calm down. Seonghwa glanced around the room and hugged Hongjoong back tightly, lifting his hand to run through his hair. He could tell something was seriously bothering him and he wanted to find out what it was.
"Joong, what's wrong. What happened," he asked softly. Hongjoong closed his eyes and clenched his fists around his shirt. Hongjoong's eyes welled up with tears as he thought about where Yunho was being taken. Seonghwa felt Hongjoong's shoulders start to shake and felt a wetness against his neck. His heart broke as he realised the younger boy was crying.
"Hongjoong, talk to me. What's going on," Seonghwa asked softly. Hongjoong sobbed, his chest heaving as cried into Seonghwa's shoulder. It concerned Seonghwa how troubled Hongjoong seemed and how affected he was. It hurts him to see the Prince so upset.
"I've got you," Seonghwa said softly, moving his hand down to rub his back gently. Hongjoong whimpered and held onto him tighter, trying not to picture Yunho all alone in the dungeons. He just hopes they won't hurt him, do what they once did to San. There was the sound of a door suddenly opening and Seonghwa suddenly turned him around and covered his mouth with his hand before pulling them both down to the floor and huddling in the corner. Hongjoong did his best to stay quiet, tucking himself closer to the older boy. Seonghwa held him tightly and stayed quiet, hoping whoever it was wouldn't come down the back of the library. Hongjoong sniffled quietly and Seonghwa felt his tears roll down onto his hand. He pulled Hongjoong back so his back was against his chest and lifted his free hand to brush the youngers hair off his forehead. Hongjoong relaxed against Seonghwa, feeling safer and more relaxed despite the situation. After sitting like that for a minute or two, the person finally left the room, leaving them alone once again. Seonghwa let out a breath and moved his hand from covering Hongjoong's mouth. He turned Hongjoong around and pulled him into his lap, Hongjoong instantly curling up and resting his head against his chest.
"You wanna talk about it, let me know what's happening," Seonghwa asked softly.
"Youngie was almost taken. Some guys wanted to sell him off," Hongjoong said quietly. Seonghwa froze and his eyes went wide, lowering his head quickly to look down at him.
"Is he ok? Was he hurt," he asked quickly, worried for the younger servant.
"He's fine now, he's with San. Yunho and I managed to protect him, and we brought him back here," Hongjoong said quietly. Seonghwa let out a breath of relief at the knowledge that Wooyoung was going to be ok, but that's clearly not the reason why Hongjoong is this upset.
"What else happened," he asked quietly. Hongjoong sniffled and grabbed his hair tightly, tugging it harshly. Seonghwa hurriedly grabbed the Prince's hands and detached them from his hair so he wouldn't hurt himself.
"It's ok Hongjoong, it's just me. I'm not going to judge you for anything," Seonghwa said, squeezing his hands softly. Hongjoong smiled softly, already knowing that Seonghwa wouldn't judge him for anything.
"We were in town to do something for father, and we never did it because we took Wooyoung here," he told him. Seonghwa frowned slightly, knowing that the King wouldn't have liked that too much.
"He sent Yunho to the dungeons for the night. I tried to stop him, but I couldn't and they took him away," Hongjoong said before bursting into tears once again. Seonghwa understood right away why Hongjoong was so upset. He always blames himself when the King hurts one of them, or even someone else, especially if it's because of him.
"It's not your fault Hongjoong. And Yunho is going to be ok, he's tough," Seonghwa assured him.
"But he's not Hwa. What, what if they hurt him. Wh-What if they beat him down there. He's all alone all night there," Hongjoong said sadly. Seonghwa realised what was making it so much worse, what was making Hongjoong more scared.
"You're worried what happened to Sannie, will happen to Yunho as well," he said quietly.
"It messed him up so much Seonghwa. He was scared for weeks after that, worried someone was going to hurt him. He spent so long just hanging around Jongho or Wooyoung because he felt safe with them. He couldn't be near me alone because it scared him, and then he cried for ages because he felt bad for feeling that," Hongjoong said, thinking about the incident sadly.
"I know, but he's ok now. He was never scared of you, merely scared of your father and accidentally categorizing you with him. Yunho knows what he's doing and he's going to be fine," Seonghwa assured him softly.
"But what if he's not," Hongjoong asked worriedly.
"Yunho is tough Hongjoong, he's going to be ok. He'll spend the night there and then he'll be back in the morning to look after you," Seonghwa said, cupping his face softly to wipe away his tears. He hates seeing Hongjoong cry, seeing his beautiful face littered with tears of sadness.
"I didn't want him to get hurt. I told him to leave, but he wouldn't," Hongjoong said.
"I know. He's going to be ok though," Seonghwa said. Hongjoong sighed but nodded, leaning back and wiping his eyes to try and get rid of the tears. Seonghwa grabbed his hands and pulled them away gently before leaning forwards and wiping his tears with the sleeve of his shirt, making sure not to accidentally wipe any dirt on him. Hongjoong gave him a small smile before leaning forwards and wrapping him up in a hug once again. Seonghwa wrapped his arms around his small waist and held him tightly.
"It's not your fault Hongjoong, I promise," Seonghwa said softly.
"Thank you. I'm sorry for dragging you out like this," Hongjoong whispered. Seonghwa smiled and ruffled the youngers hair softly.
"It's fine Joong, I'm always here when you need me. You know, personal ser-."
"Friend. Seonghwa, friend," Hongjoong cut in quickly. He will never feel comfortable calling Seonghwa his servant. He's much more than that. Seonghwa smiled softly and glanced around the room briefly before quickly leaning down and placing a gentle kiss to the top of Hongjoong's head, ignoring his pounding heart. Hongjoong blushed slightly but smiled at the affection, ignoring how his heart skipped a beat.
"Come on, we should get going. It's not very safe to be doing this here," Seonghwa said softly. Hongjoong nodded and pulled away, getting to his feet and helping Seonghwa up as well.
"Are you feeling better? Do you want to go somewhere specific," Seonghwa asked him.
"I want to go check on Yeosang if that's ok. You can come with me if you want to," Hongjoong said. He hoped Seonghwa would agree to come, he'd rather have him close by for the night.
"Of course. It's getting a little late, Yeosang is probably in his room now," Seonghwa said. Hongjoong nodded and went to leave but Seonghwa quickly grabbed his arm and stopped him. The Prince's clothes were a little rumpled, so he quickly straightened them out, retying his robe as well. Hongjoong gave him a smile of appreciation before they walked out of the library, walking down the hall towards Yeosang's room. They were quiet and stayed a safe distance apart, but Hongjoong felt more at ease to have the older boy next to him. When they got to the door to Yeosang's room, Hongjoong knocked gently.
"Who is it," he heard Yeosang call out.
"It's me Angel," Hongjoong called out. Seonghwa smiled at the nickname Hongjoong has for his little brother.
"Oh, come in," Yeosang replied. Hongjoong opened the door and the two of them walked in, closing it behind themselves. Yeosang, San and Wooyoung were all in the room. San was laying down, leaning against the headboard of the bed and Wooyoung. was laying between his legs, his back against the Knights chest while San played with his hair. Yeosang was laying down next to them, his head resting in Wooyoung's lap. Yeosang looked up at his brother and frowned, sitting up quickly.
"Sangie, you were comfortable," Wooyoung whined. Yeosang disregarded him and swung his legs over the side of the bed, standing up. He knows his brother well, and he knows what he looks like whenever he's upset. Perhaps it's about what happened with Wooyoung earlier.
"Hongjoongie. What happened," Yeosang asked softly, slipping his hands into his brothers. Hongjoong smiled softly at his brothers care and pulled him into his arms, hugging him tightly. Yeosang instantly hugged him back, squeezing tightly and resting his head on his shoulder.
"Are you ok," Yeosang asked him worriedly. Wooyoung glanced over at Hongjoong, gnawing on his lip nervously. Is Hongjoong still upset about what happened earlier?
"I'm ok Hongjoong, you know that right," he said quietly. Hongjoong glanced to the youngest in the room and nodded quickly.
"I know you are, and I'm glad you're safe," Hongjoong said.
"Then why're you upset. You look like you've been crying," San said softly. Hongjoong frowned nervously and let go of Yeosang, stepping back beside Seonghwa and looking at the floor. He loves the boys, a lot, but they also love Yunho and now he's in a dungeon because of him. Seonghwa could immediately tell the path Hongjoong's mind was taking him down.
"The King sent Yunho to the dungeons for the night, because he didn't make sure Hongjoong finished what he was in town doing," Seonghwa said. San froze, memories of the past flashing through his mind before he pushed them away quickly. He remembers how upset Hongjoong had been when he wasn't able to be around him, knows how much the Prince blamed himself for what happened.
"Hongjoong, it's not your fault. You know that right," San said softly. Hongjoong nodded but his eyes welled up with tears once again, turning his head to look down at the ground to hide them. He didn't want to show so much weakness in front of the others. He's supposed to be a strong, cold prince, not an emotional wreck. Yeosang felt bad as he saw his brother try to hide his tears, knowing how much he tries to push his strong and unbothered façade despite being a softie inside. He grabbed Hongjoong's hand and pulled him over to the bed, unclipping his coat and belt, taking his sword, leaving him in his undergarments before pushing him onto the bed beside San. San quickly wrapped his arms around the small Prince and pulled him close to his side. Hongjoong side, letting out a breath and cuddling closer to San.
"Yunho is going to be ok Hongjoong. None of us blame you for what your father does. I know it upsets you whenever we're in trouble, but you can't protect us from everything Hongjoong," San said softly. Hongjoong sighed and cuddled closer to him.
"I'm the Crown Prince San, I should be able to stand up to my father, be able to protect others," Hongjoong said with a frustrated groan.
"You can protect others. You protected me Joong," Wooyoung said quietly, sitting down cross-legged on the bed in front of Hongjoong and San. Hongjoong smiled softly and held out his hand, squeezing Wooyoung's hand softly when the younger grabbed his.
"I just wish I could protect you guys all the time, especially from my father's unjust punishments," Hongjoong said with a sigh.
"Sometimes I just wish he could die, so that he can't hurt anyone anymore and then I could make things better," Hongjoong said quietly.
"I mean my offer still stands. We can off him and pretend it wasn't us," San said, making everyone chuckle. Hongjoong smiled softly and rested his head against his. San grinned and nuzzled his head softly against Hongjoong's, rubbing them against each other gently. Seonghwa smiled fondly as he watched the young Knight cuddle up against the small Prince.
"As much as I think a lot of us would love that Sannie, we can't do that. The sentiment is there, but the morality isn't and it would mean committing treason. We can't do that," Seonghwa said. San pouted but nodded, already knowing they couldn't do anything. He only really said it to cheer up Hongjoong a bit more.
"It would be nice if he was gone," Yeosang said quietly. Hongjoong hummed and moved away from San, slipping his hands under Yeosang's shoulders and pulling him into his lap. Yeosang wrapped his arms around his brother, hugging him tightly. He's never liked his father, not just for how he treats him, but also for how he treats his brother. More so how he treats Hongjoong in fact. Yeosang grew up being ignored by his father, a cast off, but Hongjoong wasn't. He's had to endure his father's attention since he was a child, the pressure, the abuse, the never being enough. Yeosang resents his father for how badly he treats Hongjoong, despite his older brother doing everything he can to try to please him.
"Where are the other two," Hongjoong asked them.
"Jongho wanted to go and put in some extra practice, make sure he's in top shape and he's able to protect Yeosang if something happens. I switched with him to keep the little gremlins safe," San replied, chuckling as Wooyoung pouted and cuddled closer to him.
"Is he practicing with Mingi," Seonghwa asked.
"Yeah, Mingi offered to help him with hand to hand combat," San nodded.
"Ah, poor Mingi. Jjong's going to be pummelling him so badly right now," Hongjoong said, wincing slightly as he pictured it.
"Yeah, that's why I volunteered to stay here," San said. Seonghwa raised an eyebrow and looked over to where San had Wooyoung cuddle up in his arms between his legs, much like when they first walked in.
"Yeah I'm sure that's the reason," he scoffed. Yeosang giggled, knowing exactly what Seonghwa was talking about. Wooyoung and San both rolled their eyes but didn't protest about any of it.
"Are you going to stay here tonight Hongjoong," Yeosang asked softly.
"As much as I would love too, I can't. I have to go back to my room, but I wanted to check in and make sure you guys were doing ok," Hongjoong said, smiling softly and hugging Yeosang closer.
"We're all good Joong. Thank you for checking in on us," Yeosang said softly.
"And thank you for protecting me," Wooyoung added. Hongjoong let go of Yeosang and sat up, shuffling closer to San and Wooyoung. He lifted up his hand and ran his fingers through Wooyoung's hair softly.
"I'm really glad you're ok. And that you're so loud and can yell," he said, making the others giggle.
"Hongjoong," Wooyoung said softly, sitting up from San's lap and grabbing Hongjoong's hand softly. Hongjoong frowned slightly and nodded, waiting for him to say what it is he wanted to say.
"Make sure you stay safe Joong. I love you," he said gently.
"I love you too," Hongjoong said, smiling softly.
"I love all of you," he added. Yeosang smiled at his brother's words, noting how San's face seemed to light up.
"We love you too," Yeosang said. Seonghwa watched sadly as the others all hugged each other. He would love to join them, but he's not going to impose when they haven't invited him to join.
"I have to head back to my room, but you three keep out of trouble alright," Hongjoong said as he stood up, grabbing his coat and belt and putting them on quickly, grabbing his sword as well. He walked over to the door and opened it.
"Come on Hwa," he said softly. Seonghwa quickly waved to the three on the bed before walking out the door and following Hongjoong out. Together they walked to the Crown Prince's room and went inside, closing the door. Hongjoong quickly took off his belt and coat, discarding it to the side before unbuttoning his shirt and pulling it off as well. Seonghwa turned around and immediately blushed and glanced away when he realised the Prince's shirt was off. He still doesn't understand why Hongjoong is so comfortable around him. No one is supposed to see a Prince like this, unless they're also royalty and in a relationship.
"Hwa, can you please grab me a nightshirt," Hongjoong asked, glancing towards the older. Seonghwa quickly hurried over to the chest of drawers and pulled out a nightshirt for Hongjoong. Hongjoong grabbed it and put in on before bending down and rummaging under the bed, emerging a few seconds later with a lock. Seonghwa raised an eyebrow but Hongjoong quickly walked to the door and locked it with the lock.
"Sit for me," Hongjoong said, patting the bed. Seonghwa was confused but did as ask, sitting down. Hongjoong walked over and knelt down to untie Seonghwa's shoelaces. Seonghwa gasped and grabbed Hongjoong's arm, pulling him up.
"What're you doing," he asked in shock.
"Untying your shoelaces so I can take off your shoes and we can lay down," Hongjoong said, raising an eyebrow.
"Hongjoong, you can't, you can't just kneel down in front of me. Y-You're a Prince and I'm a servant," Seonghwa said quickly. Hongjoong fought back a frown and sighed.
"Hwa, I'm just untying your shoelaces," Hongjoong said raising an eyebrow.
"Once again you're a prince and I'm a serv-."
"Hwa, Star, please just shut up and let me look after you for a second please. I'm just getting you more comfortable," Hongjoong said, cutting Seonghwa off from no doubt another rant of his. Seonghwa was still shocked but he sat down and lifted up his feet. Hongjoong kneeled once again before he quickly untied Seonghwa's shoelaces and took his shoes off. It felt nice to be helping Seonghwa for once after everything he's done to help him. It wasn't much, but at least it was something. Once he was done, Seonghwa quickly scooped him up and switched places with him, moving to take of his shoes as well. Once they were off, Seonghwa chucked them to the side.
"There, we're done. Now we've both taken each other's shoes off, we're officially even," he said with a small smile. Hongjoong chuckled and rolled his eyes fondly at the other boy.
"You're silly. Come on, let's lay down," Hongjoong said, shuffling onto his bed properly.
"Are you sure you want m-."
"Hurry up Seonghwa. I just want some hugs cos it's been a long day," Hongjoong said. Seonghwa nodded and quickly went around to the other side of the bed before laying down. Hongjoong quickly pulled the covers over the two of them and shuffled closer to Seonghwa. Seonghwa wrapped an arm around him and allowed the younger to snuggle up to his side.
"Do you want the candles blown out Joong," Seonghwa asked. Hongjoong shook his head and snuggled closer to Seonghwa's side, looping his arm around his waist. Seonghwa let out a deep breath and relaxed, feeling calm with Hongjoong beside him, despite his racing heart.
"Seonghwa," Hongjoong said softly, rubbing his hip softly.
"Yeah," Seonghwa whispered, glancing down at the small Prince in his arms.
"What I said to Sannie, Youngie and Sangie in there, I was talking to you as well. I love you," Hongjoong whispered. Seonghwa froze before relaxing and nuzzling his nose into the top of the younger's hair.
"I love you too Joong. Everything's going to be alright, you just get some sleep," he whispered.
