11: 20 PM
Morgan fell straight to the floor in absolute exhaustion. Today they were training and it felt like they've been training forever. In reality it was only two hours. She was on the verge of collapsing from exhaustion. They've been working on powering their skills as a team. It wasn't the easiest thing in the world, and it sure took a lot out of them.
"Today will be your last day of training with us," Nikko said.
"Wait what?" James asked. 'You can't be serious, we are in no way ready as a team, " James said.
"You are better than you think James," Karolina says. "We have somethings to take of ourselves."
"We think it's best if you tell your parents," Gert started. "About your training that is."
"You're completely out of your mind." Francis let out. "Do you want us to get murdered? cause that's really what it seems like."
"Trust us when we say this, Parents always have your best interest at heart, even if at times it really doesn't seem like it. Trust us, we know, our parents murdered for us." Chase laughed. No one else laughed with him though.
The group said their final goodbyes to the Runways and afterward, Morgan leads them out of the building where they were training at. The last three weeks of hiding away from their parents so they could train were coming to an end. The runaways had taught them a lot about controlling their powers, and whether James or Nate will admit it, they have become capable of doing it on their own. The necklaces they wore now were all for show.
They didn't need them anymore.
"Are you okay?" Niko asked once they were away from the group. The rest of the Runaways had already packed in their car waiting on Nikko."You've seen distracted lately. Your abilities have grown a lot, Morgan, you are ready, for whatever the world wants to throw at you. Don't worry."
"No I umm, I have grown very confident in myself, thanks to you guys but a few weeks ago I was told something very... worrisome about one of my friends. I feel like it will begin to come true if he continues down this past."
"Was it bad?" She asked, and Morgan nodded her head.
"It is horrible, unlike anything he's ever done, I still can't picture seeing him do such a thing."
"Who told you this?"
"Someone from another planet. She has gifts, such as us, but the only difference was she was born with the gifts. She is part god."
"Morgan, the world works in mysterious ways, there is no telling why some things happen. Or if visions such as these can even come true, I have had my fair share of false visions. I wouldn't worry too much Morgan."
"But what if it does? What am I supposed to do then? His life will... it will be over."
"Morgan, trust yourself. Trust your team. These powers you have won't always be good, but if you let the bad thoughts consume you...well there is no saying what will happen." Nikko sighed. "You are very smart and I trust that you can solve this problem on your own. I wish you luck Morgan."
"Thank you. For everything." She said, Nikko nodded and then joined her friends.
Morgan has had a very rough time these last few weeks. Her parents had yet to speak with Thor about it since he went off-world to solve a matter with the Guardians, and she hadn't told anyone else about it.
Torunn continued her close proximity to James, and whenever the two were alone together, Torunn would update Morgan on James' path. He's been on the same path for the last few weeks, he is still destined to kill Sarah. Or so she says. Morgan still couldn't fully believe it.
"Hey Morgan, we have to head out, we have a 9-1-1 from our parents," James called out. Morgan looked at her own phone and noticed the same message, she frowned. That was odd. They hadn't gotten a 9-1-1 message from her parents since her dad burned down part of their house trying to cook dinner.
"I wonder what it could be," Nate muttered. "None of us have gotten a 9-1-1 at the same time."
" Whatever it is I hope it's not serious," Willa said walking past them with Nicole. "I was really hoping for a relaxing evening. They really want us to pass out."
"Let's just go get this over with," Miles said. "I still have to do my science homework!"
"Seriously Miles? That work isn't due for two weeks!" Nicole said rolling her eyes. "You have serious issues."
"Oh I am sorry I'd rather past school right away. I wouldn't want to be stuck in it for another five years with you."
"Watch your words Lang or I will smash you little bug."
"I'd like to see you try Wilson. We all know I am better than you," Miles shot back. "Remind me again who took out who in our latest training session?"
"It was a fluke," She glared.
"Woah hold up, my boy here," Nate started putting his hand on Miles's shoulder with a smirk. "He can take you on and win ten times over."
"What kind of dream world are you living in Barton?" Willa asked in Nicole's defense. "Nicole can take him out with her eyes closed."
"I am sorry are we forgetting who has powers here?" Nate asked.
"Having powers doesn't mean you can immediately win." She rolled her eyes. "It's all about skill and Nicole has all the skill and more."
"Can you four-stop?" James asked annoyed with their conversation. "We have to get to Morgan's house before our parents literally murder us. Can we just go now?" They all nodded begrudgingly, before walking out of the room. It would be a long day.
3 hours earlier
8 AM
Natasha laid silently in her bed, her eyes were fixed on the roof. Steve laid beside her his arm wrapped around her waist, his face in her neck laying kisses all along with it. She smiled and turned her head to him.
"Hi," She mumbled.
"Hi," He smiled. "Do you think we did it? Do you think we have a baby on the way?" He asked Natasha couldn't help but smile at his excitement. He was a bit reluctant about having another kid, however, he soon got really excited and happy about becoming a father once again.
"I don't think so Steve," She said softly. "I think it will take a bit of time."
"Well we could always try again, "He offered to lift himself up to kiss her properly. Natasha smirked grabbing his face to pull him down with a smile lacing her face. Just before their lips met their phones rang. Natasha immediately frowned.
"You know, I thought us giving up being shield agents would prevent someone interrupting us." She mumbled. "Let's ignore it."
"We really can't do that." He sighed reaching to grab the phone. Natasha stopped him trying to pull him back to her.
"You know you don't want to do that." She teased. "Please,"
"I love you... but if this is one of our friends and we miss the call we'd never hear the end of it," Natasha rolled her eyes and let go of him allowing him to pick up the phone. Steve smiled and then grabbed the phone. "Hello-"
"Why the hell does it take you so long to answer your phone?" Tony's voice rang out into Steve's ear. Natasha groaned in annoyance when she heard it. "Tell little red I've been trying to get a hold of her for a while! what are you two doing? Getting a little-"
"Tony I swear to god," Natasha said grabbing Steve's phone out of his hand. "If you don't have a good reason for answering me I will make sure you and Pepper can never be f-"
"Okay you two, maybe calm down just a little" Steve suggested. Natasha sent him a glare which Steve ignored. "What is it Tony?"
"We have an emergency."
"What kind of emergency?" He asked Steve was sitting up trying to find his clothes that Natasha had thrown all over the room. He sent her a playful glare seeing his shirt covering the lamp. She only smirked in return.
"The big kind, the kind that we promised to suit up for." Both Natasha and Steve stopped what they were doing to look at each other. "We have a problem guys, and It's bad."
An hour later
9:00 Am
Natasha and Steve, after saying goodbye to their kids, arrived at Tony's house just in time to see Morgan leaving.
"Hi Morgan leaving?" Natasha asked.
"Yeah we're all meeting up to hang out," She said. "James didn't tell you?"
"James wasn't conscious when we left," Steve smirked. "Goodluck getting that boy to do anything this early on a weekend." Morgan laughed.
"Okay well, I will see you all later, bye" She gave them a wave before walking off, the smiles on the Rogers's faces faded away right away, the seriousness of the call was wearing them down. They walked straight into Tony's house into his lab, seeing everyone there. Even Bruce and Betty.
"What's going on Stark? Your call was very cryptic." Natasha said walking over to where Clint and Laura were. She pushed Clint's feet off the chair so she could sit.
"It's about time you two showed up." Clint teased. "Can't you keep it together for one night?" She looked over and sent a glare at Tony who was holding back a laugh.
"Let's just get to it shall we?" He asked. "What is going on?"
"My friends," Thor's voice rang out in the room. "Thank you for coming."
"You called us here?" Steve asked. "What's the matter?"
"I'm afraid I left Midgard to solve an issue with the guardians but as I was heading home a voice filled my head. It was familiar it called to me. I fainted then I came face to face with the enchantress."
"Enchantress?" Tony asked. "Natasha?"
"Say something again Stark I dare you," Natasha said.
"Wait a minute did you call for us because you had a dream of a woman? We aren't therapist Thor." Clint said.
"The enchantress, many years ago, was a woman of extreme power, she was the most powerful magic wielder at the time," Sif said enlightening them all. "She was expelled from her studies many for using her powers for using her gifts for evil. She lost a love, Skruge on a rescue mission on Eart.
" it was when I came back to save you guys in one of our many battles at the start of team hood," Thor added on. Sif nodded her head at that fact.
"She fell into a downward spill of all things bad. Thor and his father exiled her, trapped her in a place of no escape. She wasn't able to make contact with anyone that was until two days ago."
"She's escaped. And before she did she pulled me into her prison announcing her plan. She wants her revenge on earth and on me. She said she was going to take everything from me like I did to her. What we all took from her. That starts with killing our kids."
A hour and a half later
10:45 Am
After Thor broke the news each set of parents broke out into conversations, complaints, and some even scared. The group started to immediately look into mysterious activity around the world the could point them to the Enchantress's location, if she was even on Earth.
Natasha had begun breaking out in Russian whenever she'd come upon a dead end. Steve was beyond stressed alongside everyone else. So far there was no sign of anyone with unusual powers such as the Enchantress anywhere on Earth.
"What are we going to do now?" Clint asked the obvious question. "We have no clue where she's at and all we know is she wants us to suffer."
"It's not like we can do much," Steve said. "But we should have our kids come back home. It's not safe for them out there."
"Then what are we supposed to tell them?" Bruce asked.
"It's not like we can tell them that an evil witch wants them dead," Clint added. "They've been through enough these past weeks,"
"We can't have them walking around alone Clint, it will only put them in more danger than they already are," Natasha spoke up. "As long as they are with us we know that they are safe."
"We have to tell them something because eventually, this woman is going to come for us," Tony sighed.
"Will she actually kill our kids?" Laura aked, Clint put his hand sympathetically on Laura's shoulder.
"We aren't going to let that happen. Thor defeated her once before alone, and now there is all of us, there is no way she can get to them." Clint said. "What can she do by the way? Does she have specific powers or just all magic in general?"
"She can make people her minions. They almost fall for her." Thor answered.
"Mainly men. It seems they have a weaker mind." Sif said.
"Yeah I could have told you that," Natasha sighed. "Okay so are we calling the kids or not?"
"Where will we keep them?" Steve asked. "Do we keep them at our own house? What's the safest call?"
"Why don't we keep them all here?" Tony offered. "I mean I have everything they could ever dream of. My house is literally the coolest out of all of yours."
"And then what?" Natasha asked. "How do we even come about telling them-" Before Natasha could finish her sentence her a loud ringing sound rang out throughout Tony's lab. Tony quickly ran over to his computer to look at the screen.
"We have a problem."
"Really?" Clint asked. "I couldn't tell from the loud ringing." Laura hit him on the side of the head to get him to shut up.
"Haha very funny birdbrain," Tony muttered. "So looks like our enchantress didn't want to wait to send a message." He made a video pop up in front of the group. The enchantress's face appeared and smoke surrounding her.
"Midgaurdians, my name is Amora, and I am looking for the people you all call the Avengers." She started. "Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hulk, and Thor. They have taken everything from me, and I have come to return the favor. Tell me where their children are and when I take rule of this pathetic planet I will spare you," She looked straight at the camera filming her. "And if the Avengers are watching, just know you will not get out of this so easily. I will have my revenge." The screen cut off.
They were all silent not making a move. She was already here and that meant they had even less time to stop her.
"We have to do something," Steve said.
"We have to worry about our kids first. As much as I hate to say it, the world isn't as important as them." Tony said.
"We have to have priorities, but if we don't protect the earth they'll be nothing for our kids," Natasha responded. "It's time we call our kids. Nine one one them."
"Won't that make them panic?" Pepper asked.
"Please if we know our kids only a little bit they will barely bat an eye," Clint said. "As long as we can get them here quickly it doesn't matter."
"I shall call Torunn in, she is speaking with her grandfather," Thor said.
"I thought your father died," Tony stated.
"She has a gift, to speak with him, she sees things." Pepper and Tony shared a look, remembering they'd have to bring up that conversation later when their children weren't being threatened. "Don't worry my friends, we have solved problems far worse then this, it shall be like old times."
"You know Thor, your optimism some times scares me," Bruce muttered. "I'd feel better if you just freak out every now and then." Thor laughed.
"Banner how I missed you. Now come on we must bring together our children before Amora gets her hands on them." Thor said.
"We should be more worried about what will happen when Natasha gets her hands on her." Clint laughed. Natasha sent him a glare. "What I am trying to lighten the mood."
"How about I lighten the load and kick you out of here," She threatened. They all snicked.
"Okay I have sent out a text to all of them," Tony announced.
"Steve and I will go get Sarah, she's at our house."
"And Maria and I will go get Hugh," Sam said. They nodded and dissipated quickly. Steve and Natasha walked side by side trying to get to Sarah as fast as they could. They didn't exactly live in a secrete place, so many people knew where they lived, and anyone could give them up.
"Natasha if this goes south," Steve said. "I want you to stay out of the battle."
"Steve-"
"This isn't me questioning your abilities Nat, this is me thinking about our family. We haven't had a mission since James was born and we have to think about them now. If it gets bad I'd prefer they have at least one of us to take care of them," Steve said.
"No... Steve if anyone should stay with them it should be you."
"No, I can't let you die, Natasha, that won't happen," Steve said. "The kids need their mother."
"They need their father, and I need you too. Nothing will happen." Steve sighed knowing no one can change Natasha's mine.
"Just promise me you will stay safe. Besides we may or may not be adding to our little family." She laughed and nodded her head. "Please."
"Okay, I promise you I will not dive headfirst into danger." Steve smiled at her. "Come on let's go get Sarah. I have a really bad feeling about this enchantress lady."
"You aren't the only one," He said. "But we can handle it. we always do."
The question remained, however, they always have to pay a price for their missions, what was it going to be this time?
