forty-five.

Christine pulled up outside of the familiar cabin in the woods, her plan to go straight home changing mid drive when she realized she probably needed to let Hopper know about the secret Russian transmission. She let out a sigh as she got out of the car, her eyes falling on the shittily parked truck that Hopper was always in, contemplating whether or not the lecture was worth warning him. However she decided it was more important to tell him of the possible danger, and so she walked up the front porch.

She knocked, the girl waiting a few moments before knocking again, her head shaking as she heard a gruff voice from inside.

"Wait a damn minute!" Hopper shouted, Christine rolling her eyes at the tone of his voice. When he ripped the door open she realized he was heavily inebriated, which explained the parking of the truck. He groaned, shaking his head at her and then pushing the door open.

"What do you want?" He said, his tone mean although he was actively ushering her into the home. She stepped inside with a warmed heart, knowing that he had love for her regardless of his words.

"I need to tell you something. I'm—well I'm worried about some stuff happ-"

"What happened?" Christine looked at him with a little bit of a glare, following him as he slumped into the recliner chair. He ate some sort of sandwich, the girl ignoring the chilling and proceeding with her worries.

"So I was at the mall earlier and I-"

"Was this before or after you skipped out of work...again?" He had an authoritative look on his face, and she groaned as she started again.

"After. Just listen okay? I was at the mall and Dustin was there and he picked up a transmission on his Cerebro and it was in Russian. And Steve—"

"Woah woah...you're still hanging out with that jackass Steve Harrington?" Hopper interjected, and his tipsiness was starting to irritate her. She lifted her hand to her face, closing her eyes for a second and proceeding.

"Yes but—"

"How many times do I have to tell you he's no good for you? If he can't see how great you are by now then he must be blind or stupid, because you're a good kid Christine." Her lips tightened into a straight line and she shook her head, shrugging her shoulder and wondering why she ever tried to get anything done here.

"Thanks Hop." She said, shaking her head slightly as he leaned back in his recliner.

"Besides he must not like you if he's still waiting around, no offense. What kind of idiot just sits around and waits for somebody? What kind of idiot really thinks she's gonna show up to dinner huh?" Christine realized now that he was going on about something that had nothing to do with her,  the girl looking around in confusion as to what he was talking about. "There's no reason to even try when all women do is ruin your life and—"

"Is El here?" An idea struck her when she heard a distant giggle, her head turning towards Els bedroom door. Hopper continued to grown and mumble on, gesturing towards the bedroom door and making her roll her eyes.

Christine pushed the bedroom door open, her eyes falling on El and Max, a pair she hadn't seen before. They knew each other, but Christine was pretty sure they had never been friends.

"Hey guys." She said in a drawn out voice, her eyebrows furrowed as the girls giggled about something. The both looked at her, confused as to why she was there.

"Hey."

"Hi."

"What's going on in here?"  Christine asked, watching as the girls slowly covered something beside them.

"What are you doing here?" Max asked, looking a little more tense now.

"I asked you first." Christine said accusingly, her eyes glued to the blanket that was covering whatever they were hiding.

"We're playing a game." El interjected, the older girl noticing the blindfold that she was holding in her hands.

"What game?" Christine asked in curiosity, Max and El sharing a look and then a short laugh before Max uncovered the game. Christine walked over, sitting down on the bed beside them and  smiling when she saw it.

It was pieces of paper with names written on them, each a different one. She saw Mike, Billy, and even Steve as the choices, the girl connecting the dots and realizing what the blindfold and the bottle had to do with if. She saw her name, her grin growing as she pointed to it.

"You're spying?"

"Yes."

"Interesting." She said, her eyes glued to a name on a paper.

"You wanna join?" Max asked, her eyes slightly narrowed as she looked at the older girl. Christine was staring at the slips of paper, Max already knowing which one she was gazing at. She watched Christine anxiously, wondering if she would give into the insatiable urge to know what was happening with Steve.

"Sure. But I get to pick." She said, a smile lighting up her lips as the girls realized she was in. Max already knew who she would pick, El having a semblance of an idea as Christine reached for one. She picked it up, handing it to El and then looking up at her.

It was Steve.

Max and El shared a look, it was a well known fact within the group that that would eventually be a thing, and she they both thought it was not at all surprising that she chose him.

"I want him."

"We know." Max instantly spit out, Christine's mouth dropping open as she reached forwards and  punched her shoulder. She shook her head as they all laughed, the girl quick to defend herself.

"That's not what I meant."

They laughed a little longer before El started to tie the blindfold,  Christine biting the inside of her cheek as she caught herself actually being genuinely curious and excited for this. They waited a few moments, Max raising her eyebrows at Christine and making the older girls face fall, quickly shaking her head so that she could expel the idea from her brain. She knew that all of the kids wanted them together, it was something they had said numerous times on many different occasions.

"I found him." El said in a monotonous voice, Christines head whipping to look at her. Max held in a snicker at her reaction, knowing that no matter how much she denied it, she was too obvious still.

"What's he doing?" Max asked, Els face slightly scrunching as she tried to comprehend what he was doing. Christine watched as her cheeks lit up, El speaking.

"He is studying. He is naked." El said, Max and Christine sharing a look and making the two burst into laughter.

"Fully naked?" Max asked.

"No. No shirt. He—now he is singing." El was trying not to laugh now, Christine picturing Steve singing to himself.

"Is he alone?"

"What's he singing?"

"Yes. And I don't know. He is studying and singing." She pulled the blindfold off, a small streak of blood already drying under her nose as she looked between the other two girls and then laughed. They all laughed for a moment, Max looking between Christine and El and then settling on El.

"So was he...was he hot?"

"Max!" Christine said, shaking her head as she slightly pushed her shoulder.

"Yes." El deadpanned, both of the younger girls shrugging as Christine's mouth dropped open. She knew he was hot without a shirt. She knows he was hot. She had to pretend she didn't.

"Whatever whatever...stop looking at me like that!Okay, who's next?...Billy."
