//Chapter Five//
Three weeks past, and she didn’t see Matthew again. He had wandered around talking to the other mentors, nodding most of the time. After that afternoon tea he never appeared again. And it dawned on Celestia that Matthew showing up and seeing that it wasn’t him, was Ja'ob's way of saying that he had the power, he even said that to her.
No idea of revenge came to her, no matter how much she tried. Nothing. Though Ivory and Calvina helped her control her anger. And it was working. Under her agreement, they were allowed to use Matthew as her main source of anger. At first she struggled, but she pulled through and to their surprise, she won over the anger. But Ivory had said she wasn’t going to stop, she would keep doing it until she was satisfied. Celestia sighed, Ivory could be so irritating at times but that’s what best friends are for, Ivory said once when Celestia admitted how she saw Ivory.
Ivory had laughed at that and just hugged her. A small smile appeared on her face as she read through the old book she took from the library. It was about the different types of demons, and she fell into the category of Demon Dragons. Not a fancy title, but the race was well organized and extremely powerful; they were well looked upon by the King and were always trusted with the demon army. But what caught her attention was a name. Jaromir Zuri. Her father.
There was also a picture of him in the book, it was like a profile. He had sharp features, strong jaw, straight long nose and shallow cheeks and high cheekbones. His eyes were almond shaped and were a dark blood red colour. His hair was dark brown. She guessed he looked around 25-28 but the book said his age was unknown but he was the third demon to ever set foot on earth. So somewhere in the thousands. His skin was dried and cracked which is why he would wear black armour to cover the scary features. But she had no resemblance to him at all. Maybe she took on her mother mostly, and set the book down. But what made her like him was that he was a Dragon Lord, he looked after the second quarter of hell, the one that was right next to the main city where the King of Hell was situated. And he was looking for a successor.
A female successor.
Her name even came up in the small biography at the bottom; "My daughter, Celestia Zuri, will be the next successor to my throne once she is out of that blasted Laboratory." She smiled; he also didn’t like this place. Good, she thought. As she read further, she found out her mothers name, Trinity. She had no last name; apparently Angels had no last names since they didn’t like them. Though since this was a book based on the demons in hell and in other religions, Trinity didn’t come up in it. Only her name and saying that she was married to Jaromir. She left her book open on her bed and went back to grab the book on angels and came back and sat on her bed again and began to read:
'Trinity was an arch angel, and was well known in Heaven, but not so much on Earth,' She put on a side note to look what Earth was. 'Trinity had red wine hair and bright gold eyes, her skin was fair and clean of any blemishes and scars. It was Gods most beautiful and perfect creation. Trinity was a lovely and caring woman and would help anyone who was in need. Every angel admired her beauty and peacefulness and would do anything to be with her. But, she had no interest in being with one of the younger less experienced angels. It was forbidden to mingle with other angels in Heaven, especially when they were inexperienced. Her mind was else where, so to say, she was admiring a demon. A very powerful demon in Hell. She had kept it a secret, and was very good at that. Once Trinity met with the demon whose name was Jaromir Zuri, they fell in love with each other instantly. But, one of the other archangels spotted her leaving and followed, and reported instantly that she was infatuating herself with their enemy. Trinity was sent back and was banished from Heaven no matter how many times she had begged and pleaded with the Lord. She was cast out and left to die, but Jaromir took her in his arms and the pair, eventually getting over the distress, had built a city. A city for millions of people, who will harbour thousands of hunters that will kill the supernatural who have gone against their own kind and rebelled.'
Celestia blinked, it ended abruptly with a short sentence, 'Author Unknown', and god knows if what this book said was true or not. But she was now curious of what this City was and what was 'Earth'. For the rest of the day she read books on the city, but none of them gave her a clear path on what it was mostly about. Nor was there any book about 'Earth'. None at all! The ending still confused her, so she spent her time in the library. She was enjoying reading; she learned harder words along the way and felt that she probably knew all the words in the world now. "That’s where you are." Alijah had appeared behind her suddenly, "I’ve been trying to find you everywhere!" he said as Celestia turned around quickly. She could see that he was uneasy in her presence, and she smirked a little. "Really? Why the hell do you care?" she hissed angrily to him, he narrowed his eyes a little, "I'm your mentor, and I’m meant to look for you. I have a duty of care.” he said and Celestia laughed loudly.
"Really now? Maybe you should of actually 'cared' for me in the beginning. Why the sudden change of heart, Alijah?" she said icily, it made him more nervous. "Like I said… I'm your mentor…" though he stopped since the look Celestia gave him told him she wasn’t convinced. He hated expressing his sympathy to people, especially to her. But he wasn’t going to do it, "I'm your mentor," he repeated, "I am, older than you, and I need to keep you safe. Whether you like it or not, got it?" he said, she just shook her head, "Oh leave me alone, I have no interest in your little speech." She waved him away as she read through the book she had in her hand.
She was suddenly thrown hard against the wall, she gasped as the air was knocked out of her, "You asshole!" she hissed as she sank to the floor, but she didn’t even reached to the floor as Alijah grabbed her and pushed her against the wall, his hands around her neck as he slowly choked her, "Don’t you dare fucking talk to me like that, you little slut," he slammed her once against the wall and she whined softly, "Yeah, cry little girl, just like your supposed to do. You are not in charge here. You have no power. You have no rights." he whispered cruelly against her ear, "A-Alijah… You’re choking… Ah… I'm sorry… Please let me go…" she cried softly, all her thoughts of taking over this place disappeared. All her revenge.
She wasn’t strong. She wasn’t powerful. She is merely just a toy, a plaything to these people. She couldn’t win. She was weakened by her love for Matthew. "Alijah…" she clawed at his hands, as black spots surrounded her vision. He tightened his grip and she let out a raspy gasp. Her world grew darker and darker. She was now standing in black smoke, red eyes glittering before her, 'Hello, my little angel,' the black shadow spoke, its voice booming around her, 'I see you have requested me. Why now? Are you to weak to fight back without me? What was those 3 weeks for? Just a waste? Don’t tell me you have already succumbed to these worthless humans and lower demons, don’t tell me that I am trapped inside a pathetic little girls body!" It howled into her face, its long white teeth flashed before her eyes. She could feel her life slipping, as Alijah sucked out the pain and anger from her. "Fight! Fight you pathetic little shit!" The Demon Dragon howled.
It snapped her back as her hands tightened around Alijah's wrist, she growled as her eyes glowed brightly as her knee came up and connected with his crown of jewels. He gasped as she brought a fist into his face, which sent him flying back onto the redwood table. She heard the crack of his bone as she howled at him, "You underestimated me again!" She screamed, tears running down her cheeks as she ran past him and out of the library. Whenever she got angry, she felt this searing pain on her back, like someone was carving something on her back with a fiery blade.
She ran down the maze like hallways, blurred by the tears in her eyes. Someone stepped out in front of her and she crashed into him. His arms wrapping around her to hold her steady. She pushed him back and rubbed her eyes, then froze still as she saw whom it was.
"Matthew." she whispered, her breathing hard and fast. He still had this cold mask on his beautiful face, no emotion in his green eyes, "Don’t run in the hallways." he said, his tone lacking any kind of emotion. Just a flat and robotic like voice, "I…" she was cut of, "It is dangerous, you can hurt yourself and others. If I catch you running recklessly, you will be sent to the Head Master." and with that, he turned on his heel and left a shocked looking girl. She blinked, as she stood up straighter, she shivered and hugged herself.
His arms were cold to her skin and she could still feel it. It had been three weeks since she saw him, and there was no change in him from then. It hurt her. A lot. She leaned against the wall and sank down and pulled her knees to her chest as she silently cried between her knees. "I want out,” she whispered as she dug her nails deeply into her legs.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She had fallen asleep in the hallway on the floor on her side. She was tired from the intense reading she had before and the anger that came out of her exhausted her out. Matthew returned to his room and saw her on the floor.
He sighed in annoyance, "What a bother…" he mumbled as he stared at the girl. He bent down and picked her up and took her back to her room. He had no idea who this girl was; he didn’t even know how he found her room. He opened the door and walked in, setting her down on the bed gently tucking her in. He stood there awkwardly, looking at her, something in his memory was telling him that he knew her but something else was pushing back down that memory till it was smothered in darkness. He shook his head and left her room, shutting the door lightly as he headed back down the hall he came from.
He entered his room and went to the mirror above his dresser. He stared at the picture filled surface, looking at his family photo of his mother and father and his little sister. He remembered the frightening night that costed his parents and little sister's life…
It was a cold windy night. The small hut sat was situated in a valley far from Alyeena. Quite far away. The family had just finished their dinner, and the young boy with sandy blond hair was cradling his little baby sister in his arms. "Sierra," he cooed to his sister, making silly faces at her and she giggled.
He was only 10 years old. She was only 5 months old. The mother had now called for the kids to go to bed; she took little Sierra out of his arms as he bounded of to his small room. It wasn’t even a room, just a cloth that pulled across to give the person some privacy somewhat.
Matthew could see the shadows of his mother moving around, his father coming up behind her and giving her a sweet kiss on the cheek before he to headed to bed. "Goodnight…" her soft and kind voice came to him as she tucked Matthew in and kissed his cheek, "Sleep well my darling little boy." she smiled and left him to fall asleep slowly.
He was woken up during the night, his sister was crying. It was his duty to look after her since his parents slept at the top. He got out of his bed groggily and lit a candle and shuffled slowly to the makeshift crib.
She wasn’t there.
His heart skipped in terror as he hurried up to his parents. They to weren't there. But he could hear his sister crying like she was right next to him! He turned around, looking frantically around for any signs of a break in. None. He gulped. He knew the stories of demons and such, but he wasn’t much of a believer in that kind of things. "Mama! Papa!" he called, no use calling here, he thought. So he pulled on his boots and warm coat and lit a lantern. He scribbled a little note in case his parents came; finally he left with a knapsack with food and some clothing. God knows where they went so he had to make sure he was well prepared.
Lucky his father taught him how to stay safe in the forest and how to hunt. The crying baby had stopped just as he left the house. He was more puzzled than ever. So he set of into the darkness, his boots crunching on the new fallen snow. The cold pierced his skin through the coat but it didn’t really affect him much. His lantern swung in his grasp, and he continued to call for his parents. It was oddly silent. Not a single animal roamed around, not even the nightingale he had came to love didn’t sing her sweet song. And it was extremely dark; normally this forest was lit up from the moon. And he noticed that there were no clouds in the sky. Odd, he thought so he pushed on, pushing the thick shrubbery away. Something was breathing down his neck and he spun, and tripped.
Nothing was there, nor was anything that tripped him. He scrambled to his feet and rubbed the back of his neck, "What on earth…" he whispered. Again, he continued to walk, praying that nothing bad had come to his family. He came to a stop and found himself standing on a paved circle, three paths led away from it. One path, on the far left had moss growing in-between of the cracks, the middle had some dark liquid sprayed across, he couldn’t tell what it was clearly, and the right was clean and sparkled lightly. The mossy green pathway made him feel cold and felt like his legs were slipping, the liquid sprayed pathway made him feel sick and dizzy, while the sparkling pathway made him feel at peace. But little did Matthew knew, that this was an illusion. So, he took the sparkling pathway. His vision slightly blurred as he walked down it, there were figures standing along the edge in the shadows.
He stopped and gazed around. Nothing was there. "Okay… Now this is just getting weird…" he mumbled, blinking a few times then turned to see that the shrubbery had closed over behind him so he couldn’t go back. Something was so, so wrong here. He backed up and his back met with something hard and… wet? His body froze, fear running through him, he forced himself to turn and the wet feeling was, "Blood?" he gasped, he could see things like limbs or something decorating the trees branches. His voice got caught in his throat as he dashed away from the tree, the light from the lantern reflecting the golden light off objects, grotesque faces, clawed bony hands reaching out to him.
He dodged them quickly just like his father taught him to, then a root of some sort shot out in front of him in the darkness and he dived down, the root almost piercing him through. "What's going on!" his voice trembled. He got to his feet quickly as the root turned to ashes; he kept running down the pathway. Echoes of whispers and voices now rose up around him, surrounding him like a blanket. He had dropped the lantern so he was running blindly in the blackness. "No, no, no! Stop! Mama! Papa!!" he screamed, his hands clamped over his ears as he, head first, ran. Not seeing the thick root pop out of the ground, his foot caught under it and he fell over. But he didn’t connect to the ground, he was falling down. He snapped his eyes open and reached out to grab on to whatever.
His fingers scraped dirt and he dug them in to slow down his fall before finally hitting solid ground. He rolled down a little more before coming to a stop. His face had scratches and bruises, which he didn’t know how he got them. His body was sore, he felt he might have broken his arm, a slight move and he gasped in pain. "O-Ow…" he cradled his broken arm and got up slowly on shaky feet. His chest was rising and falling fast but soon it calmed down. He found his bag and swung it over his back as he slowly walked down an unused pathway. A blotch of black was seen here and there, then a long skid mark appeared, each step he took, each time a tear fell down his cheek. Oh god, please don’t tell me, he prayed biting his bottom lip as he stopped in a clearing. The skid mark continued to the middle of the stone circle, there was an inner circle within. A pentagram of some sort, he'd seen quite a lot from his father. Demon summoning circle, he thought in fear. He took another step forward, and again until he stood at the edge of the circle. He noted that the circle wasn’t drawn in paint, but it was drawn in blood. It would of taken a lot of blood from an animal to do this. His heart beat fast and hard in his rib cage.
Then it came again.
A baby crying.
He raised his head slowly, and hanging in the trees with a rope around their necks was his parents and his baby sister. Their bodies mutilated and cut open, something squirmed in his mothers stomach and then exploded open, blood and guts spilling out as some hideous 4 legged creature slipped out and fell to the ground with a sickening crunch. He stumbled back as the slimy demon slithered to him, his mouth was vertical on its face and had sharp pointed teeth that lined the whole of its inside mouth. "Oh God! No! GO AWAY! GO AWAY!" He screamed, grabbing a rock and throwing it at it. It simply moved out of the way and kept on moving forward to him.
More of the creatures fell out of his parents bodies, he was crying and screaming and finally got the urge to get up and run. He ran for his life. He didn’t stop as he charged through the forest. The image stuck to his mind, it haunted him.
He had found a village finally, after 4 days of travelling and living of dry and old bread and fruits. The old farmer took him in and cleaned and fed him till he was well and strong again. For the next two years Matthew grew up in the care of the farmer and his wife. He helped them, clean out the pens, collect the wheat, and milk the cows. But the owners that took him in had died a year before Ja’ob found him. Matthew had given the owners a burial by himself, did it before their bodies rotted. So Matthew continued on to look after the farm, the villagers had come by and said their farewells to the owners. But looking after the farm was hard for him, and soon the animals had died or been killed by whatever that lived in the darkness.
Matthew placed the picture down. It had been 14 years since his parents and sisters’ death, and since that day, he was determined to rid the world from demons and anything evil. And he wanted to get rid of himself.
The demon laughed within in, his soul captured within the demons grasp. "You can’t escape me, little boy. I like this body, its healthy and strong. I'm thankful that Ja'ob gave me to you; I still laugh at how willingly you took his offer. My brother, Alijah, will have so much fun with your little bitch," the demon growled, "Fuck you! You disgusting shit!" Matthew yelled but was instantly silenced by the Greater Demon.
"Oh, don’t get so feisty! Its not a good look on you," it smirked at the struggling soul of Matthew. He hoped and prayed that Celestia was trying to figure out how to save him, and herself from her mentor. But he knew that he hadn't taught her well on how to control her own demon and just wished she were coping well.
After the two months, he will grab Celestia and run away with her. Get her out of here, and take her to her parents. He knew the plans that Ja'ob had for her, and it pained him that he was just using her for the immense power she had in her. Ja'ob wanted to take over Dyngarmor and Earth, Heaven, and Hell and other dimensions that existed. Celestia was his tool, and she didn’t know it. He had to play through, he had to allow the demon to take over a little and show that he wasn’t being affected by it and show that he couldn’t be possessed.
He just hoped it didn’t kill him or destroy his humanity.
