chapter thirty five,
save your tears

    The sound of Nailea's heels clicked against the pavement. She had left the party – wanting to cry but she couldn't.

Nailea had no clue where she was headed to but she knew that wherever she went would be much better than with Nicholas.

As she felt a tear trickle down her cheek she immediately wiped it away. Stopping herself from letting any more tears flow.

She was better than this. She was better than to cry after some stupid boy. And the worst part about it was, he wasn't stupid.

"Nai!"

She wanted to turn around, she really did. But her body didn't let her. It was as if she wasn't in control and someone else was.

"Nailea!" was called again.

Nailea had the urge to run into his arms, yet she couldn't.

"Nai." Nicholas urgently said as he grabbed her shoulder, turning her to face him.

Her eyebrows frowned making her look confused. "Why are you following me?" she replied.

She didn't want those words to leave her mouth but they did. She was out of control now. There was no going back. Her eyes looked into his for an answer, his stated right back at her.

"Answer me!" she accidentally said louder than intended.

"I can't." his breath hitched.

Nailea laughed to herself, "You can't what?" she half sincerely asked.

"I can't," He repeated. "I can't let go of you. And believe me I've tired. You have this effect on people, Nai. You just change people."

The girl didn't have anything to say back to him, which was surprising cause she always had something to say back to him.

Her face slowly softened, her gaze still on his.

"I love you so fucking much, Nailea Marie. I really do. And I don't want to, but I just do. No matter what – I will always love you."
