IN THE WEB OF LIFE AND DESTINY, two variants are always fated to meet and fall in love. Miguel and Willow in Earth-001 ... Miguel and Willodean-June in Earth-1218 ... Jude has a complicated relationship with whoever is puppeteering the strings of her life. The daughter of a preacher and a mother who did some very bad things, she moved from her home of Barton Hollow, Louisiana to the hustle and bustle of New York. Now a photographer for the New York Times, Jude has always yearned for more, to be a writer like all the other up-and-comings throughout the city. Her life is going to complete shit, and she knows she needs to make a change. So when Jude gets a call from her father for the first time in a decade, telling her that her godfather was murdered and her family would hate for her to miss the funeral, she decides to pack up her life and hit the road in her beat-up El Camino. After all, there's no place like home to find inspiration, right?

But you see, Jude Wright was never supposed to go back to Barton Hollow. She was supposed to stay in NYC, eventually get the writing opportunity of her dreams, marry Earth-616's Miguel O'Hara, and have a little girl named Piper. And now, a variant of Michael Morbius from Earth-1610 is wrecking havoc on a small town in Louisiana, killing old folks like Jude's godfather. There was only one person who could correct the canon – who could put Morbius back where he belonged and keep Jude Wright distracted enough until her real soulmate came along. The last thing he expected, though, WAS TO FALL IN LOVE WITH HER.

A/N: so. hello. I bet as soon as some of y'all saw miguel o'hara, you knew my dumbass was gonna write a fic. so welcome to FALSE GOD!!!!!!! this is an extreme au (with slight references to across the spiderverse) because my favorite thing to do is put spider-men in ridiculous and jarring situations that have nothing to do with spider-man in particular. I rewatched midnight mass between seeing across the spiderverse and I've also been listening to the civil wars and well. here we are.

if my summary makes no sense (and god, it probably doesn't) this is basically a soulmate au fic LOL. in every universe, a variant of miguel's falls in love with a variant of jude's, and so on and so forth. in some universes, they have slightly different names, but it's all the same. they're still variants of miguel and jude falling in love. (the only exception to this is the o.g., miguel, who isn't allowed to have a significant other while trying to keep the multiverse in check. such is life 🥲) so when miguel sees jude has gone against the canon and he decides he's going to distract her until she meets his variant in her own universe, he thinks it's no harm, no foul - she'll get to her true soulmate eventually. OH HOW WRONG HE IS!!!!!

like everyone else on the planet, when I saw miguel o'hara I went 🥹🫶 they really made this movie and said, "HERE'S VIC'S TYPE" lmao. I casted sean teale because he fit miguel sooooo perfectly for this fic. as much as I love oscar isaac, he's a little too old for me to use him in this fic, given that our characters are in their late 20s-early 30s. sean teale literally looks like a slightly younger version of oscar isaac and fits what I was imagining in my head for miguel! also like I mentioned before, this fic was really inspired by my midnight mass rewatch, and other shows like true blood, the originals, sharp objects, etc. I know this is an insane premise to insert miguel into but just TRUST ME!!!!! I'm gonna make it work and it's gonna be a wild ride 🥳

I want to preface as well that the characters in this fic are older. jude is 29 (a few months away from the big 30) and miguel is 32 in this. whatever your headcanons are for his age, throw it out the window. he's still dilfy at the ripe age of 32 LOL

also in case you were wondering: you do not need to watch/know anything about morbius to understand this fic. I haven't even watched the movie LMAO. morbius is a villain we almost never interact with in the story, so don't worry about any of that!
