Song: Came Out Swinging By The Wonder Years

The last day of summer flys by, my parents insist we spend the day together. As I watch the sun set into the hills I feel very bittersweet, I can't wait to do something other than play video games and skate. But I don't want this moment of my life to end, it's beautiful, I don't have a care in the world.

I stumble off the bus still more than half asleep, a coffee cup in my hand. I'm wearing black skinny jeans, a red band tee, a black and white flannel and a red beanie on my head. I finish drinking the coffee as I walk in the front doors, already feeling the caffeine set in. There is a big poster on the wall with about 600 kids crowding around it. I push my way to the front and find out that it's our homerooms. I find mine room V6, isn't that outside? Ughhh.

As I walk back out into the humid day I feel my phone buzz.

Zelda: what homeroom ya got?

Link: V6

Zelda: Really!! Same. It's a world history teacher. She's really annoying.

Link: that's awesome. And that sucks.

Zelda: omg I see you. Other then the beanie and the ripped t shirt you look homeless.

Link: wow... Thanks?

I walk up to a portable classroom ( our school is overcrowded) and walk in. Zelda walks in behind me and pokes me playfully.

" Hey! Why'd ya poke me"

She giggles a bit " why not"

" Ugh. I'm beginning to remember why I stopped being your friend" I say teasingly

"Hey" she says rather annoyed

I sit down in a seat and she sits in the one behind me. She continues to poke my back and giggles when I turn around

We stayed in home room all of the first day. After the teacher, ms. Fi, went over the school rules and forums for our parents to sign she let us talk. I chat with zelda most of the day as she's the only person I know in the class.

We mostly chat about classes for a few hours. And then she looks at me laughing a bit

"What's so funny Zelda?"

" I just remembered the funniest thing."

" That being?"

" Don't judge me. But I used to have a crush on you."

" Heh. That is funny. I think I used to have a crush on you too. Probably just cuz we spent so much time together"

" Yeah"

After that it gets a bit awkward and she pulls out her phone.

I walk out of the school a few minutes later and squint in the bright sunlight. I find my bus and get on. There's Not many people go on my bus so I lay down and take up one whole seat and half of one for my legs on the opposite row.

I feel my phone buzz as the bus pulls out of the school.

Zelda: sorry if I made it awkward.

Link: no no. It's okay. I mean it was mutual feelings for like 10 year olds. So it's no big deal.

Zelda: okay Link. P.s. Hope we get a lotta classes together. Talking was fun.

Link: for sure.

I turn off my phone and lay back. I feel the warmth of the sun through the bus windows. My hair sofly waves a little with the wind and think to myself ' Wow. Your never happy, actually happy without trying. And your happy right now. Wonder why....

Okay. Another chapter done. About 550 words again. I'll try and make em longer while still ending them where it feels natural.
