Chapter five
I hate my life. I grumble. Oh come on Aria, it's not that bad! Amethyst said. Not that bad?! Amethyst, I'm wearing a freaking corset thing! The only thing that Sally had in my size was some kind of medieval dress. It had a white undershirt and a vest with laces on front. The skirt was long, and even though I liked the dress I didn't like it on me. Amethyst had gotten to wear a shirt and pants with boots. (See EyesOfAmethyst pov for description)
What my outfit mostly looked like.

Sorry, Aria. Sally said, reappearing with black pants. But this is the only pair of pants I can find. None of my shirts will fit you. I groan. I look over and see Amethyst giggling to herself. Amethyst, it's not funny! It kinda is. She said, smiling. Are you implying I'm fat? No! Geez, you always go to that. Your chest is just a different size, that's all. Amethyst said, hugging her plushes. I sigh. Oh, what the fudge. I grab the pants from Sally and a pair of scissors. What are you? Sally began. I put on the pants and cut the skirt to my knees. The pants went to my ankles. I gather the fabric from the skirt and give it to the shocked Sally. Sorry, I hope the dress wasn't that important. I say.
Aria, you can't just do that. Amethyst said, half seriously, half amused. Huh? Oh, no it's ok. I never liked that dress anyway. Sally said, smiling. Thanks. I say, pulling on some brown boots. Sally had taken us to her room, which was upstairs from the bakery. It was small, with a closet, bed, vanity, and a small chest under a window. Amethyst was sitting on Sally's bed, playing with her plushes. Sally had told us that her family lived above there bakery. She said it was just her and her parents. As we were heading back downstairs, I thought I heard an odd noise. That's just the cat. Sally said quickly, pushing me downstairs. It's been sick all morning. That doesn't sound like a cat. I think stubbornly. But since Sally was nice, I didn't push it. Chase was talking to another guard a few years older then us. I didn't like the looks of this one. He had brown hair and green eyes. He was wearing a black shirt and yellow vest with fingerless gloves that went to his elbows and black pants with brown boots.
What he looked like.

Another sword!? Are you freaking kidding me?! I think, pursing my lips: the guy noticed us and whistled. Ok, I'm out. I say, throwing up my hands. I'm out! I wanna leave! Amethyst stifled a laugh with her hand. Girls, this is Clay August. Chase said, gesturing to the guy. He's one of the village guards. Hi, Sally. Clay said, winking in her direction. Hello Clay. She said in a tired voice. I heard some noises upstairs. Sally shot upstairs, a look of alarm on her face. What's that about? I mumble watching her depart. I hear a little squeal of shock and turn to see Clay, kissing Amethyst's hand. What the actual heck? I say, watching him. Why? He stood up and smiled at Amethyst. What's your name, cutie? My name isn't cutie. Amethyst said, regaining her sense. She pulled her hand away from him. My name is Amethyst Firethef. There's the Amethyst I know. I think, proudly. Clay just gave a slick smile. He turned to me. Aw heck no. I say. If you touch me I swear I will kill you. However, Clay didn't even look fazed. In fact, he just watched me with mild amusement. I look at Amethyst, shocked. She just shrugged.
Feisty, I see. Clay said. No problem, I'll enjoy breaking that stubborn streak. What is wrong with you? Chase said, hitting him on the top of the head. You don't talk to girls like that! Thank you! I say, holding Amethyst's hand. Uh, Aria? I can't feel my fingers. She mumbled. Huh? Oh sorry Amethyst. I let go of her hand. Clay chuckled. Whatever, I better get going. I have a date. He left, but not before giving me a wink. I feel very uncomfortable. I announce, sitting on a chair. Amethyst laughed. I thought you were the one who the boys notice, not me. I say, picking at my skirt. Amethyst blushed a faint red, and mumbled something I couldn't hear. Chase rubbed the back of his neck and sighed. Sorry about Clay, he's a bit of a flirt. Yeah no kidding. Amethyst grumbled, rubbing her hand against her clothes. Anyway, welcome to Starry Night. As I said before, I'm the lord here, and you two are welcome to stay as long as you like. Thanks, but. . . My voice fades off. We don't know where here is. Amethyst finished. I nod. You see, when we woke up, we were in the woods. She continued. We don't know how we got here. Chase's smile wavered. I think I might know. . . He said quietly. You do?! I ask, standing up quickly. But. . . I don't think it's very accurate. Even if it's not accurate, please tell us! Amethyst pleaded. Chase sighed. I don't know. . . I don't think I should be the one to tell you. I mean, this seems like it. . . He mumbled to himself. Chase? I ask. He looked at us, giving me a shock. His face was pale white and eyes seemed distant, as if he was remembering a terrible memory. Chase? I ask again. He shook his head and gave us a weak smile. I'm sorry, I was spacing out, wasn't I? Um, The theory I have is actually something I read in the library. I'll take you to it. He said, turning to the door. Chase are you ok? Amethyst asked. I'm fine. He turned and smiled. Really, I'm ok. Liar. I think, following him out. He's not fine. I've seen enough meltdowns to tell when someone is having one.
Amethyst and I followed him to a small building made of wood planks. Inside was a woman in her late thirties, with golden hair and brown eyes standing behind a desk. Ah, hello Chase! The woman said, smiling. Hi Dixie. He said. Oh, who are your friends? She asked, noticing us. This is Aria and Amethyst. He gestured towards each of us. Nice to meet you girls! I'm Dixie. If there's any thing I could help you with, don't hesitate to ask. Chase nodded and gestured for us to follow him. He lead us past a few bookcases and suddenly stopped. A large tapestry was hung on the wall, a bookcase on either side of it. The tapestry itself, was very beautiful. Two women were on it, both in the same pose with hands pressed on either side of them.
This is the pose they were in.

The woman on the left was wearing a long gown that went to her feet and the sleeves hung from the wrists. The dress itself was dark blue studded with silver fading to lighter colors. Her skin was a tan color and her hair was long coils of black. For jewelry there was an elaborate gold necklace, thin gold circlets on both arms, and a band of gold with sapphires nestled in her hair. By her feet was a large white wolf, sitting obediently, protecting her. Behind her was the sun. The woman on the right was wearing a dress similar to the woman on the right's. However, the dress was a light red fading to darker colors. Her skin was a pale ivory with long purple blue hair. For jewelry she wore a beautiful silver necklace, silver circlets on both arms, and a silver band with lapis lazuli on her head. By her feet was a large black wolf, staring up at his master. Behind her was a crescent moon. On the top of the tapestry in gold thread were the words: Lady Dawn and Lady Dusk. Lady Dawn was labeled above the woman on the left. Lady Dusk was labeled above the woman on the right.
Wow. . . I breathe, brushing my fingers against the fabric. Amethyst was by my side, staring up at Lady Dusk. These are the most important people in our history. Chase said, looking up at the tapestry. What happened to them? Amethyst asked. No one knows quite for sure. He answered. Some say they died in battle. Others say they moved far away together, never to be seen again. There was a rumor that one of them died, so the other died herself. Another rumor says that they both got married. Yet another says they went into a deep slumber waiting to be reawaken. What do you believe happened? I ask, looking at him. Me? Honestly, I'm not sure. He rubbed the back of his neck. I think they just got tired of the constant fighting. When they weren't fighting battles, it was often that others fought for them. As in, they fought for their affection or over which was better, Lady Dawn or Lady Dusk? It was said that they gained a lot of admirers as well as enemies. I'm guessing that some of these admirers wanted more then friendship. So I just think they got tired of it all, and left. But that's just what I think. He said. Huh. . . I can see how anyone can get fed up with stuff like that. I say. Amethyst nodded. Chase pulled a book out of one of the bookcases. It was large, with a brown cover and a gold sun and a crescent moon. He fingered the pages for awhile. Here. He said, handing it to Amethyst. I'll be over there. He walked away and disappeared behind a bookcase. Amethyst looked at the book. We sit down on a bench that was against a wall. Amethyst opened the book.
Lady Dawn and Lady Dusk's origins are unknown too nearly everyone. The only people who did know their origins are probably long gone by now. The only thing that anyone knew for sure about them is that they were the best of friends. They were called many names such as The ladies of the Sun and Moon, Lady Night and Lady Day, and so on. The two ladies themselves were said to be immortal. Some even believe that they were goddesses. Others believe they were just powerful beings, not gods. They were magic users, some even say that they were best. Lady Dawn was said to have loved all the good creatures of the land, and Lady Dusk was said that she favored the things that go bump in the night. However, they both knew that all beings are important in life, just as day and night were important. They were said to have been loved by all the people of the land, not just in this region. However, not all people were satisfied with there choices. Two lords, whose names are long forgotten, were unsatisfied with them. They wanted Lady Dawn and Lady Dusk too become their lovers. When they both refused, the two lords. . . Well, their history is unclear. Some say they became deathly sick of heartbreak, while others say they were overcome with rage. Whatever the truth is, no one really knows but what we do know is that something happened to the two lords. It was said they sold there souls to the devil, becoming who we now call: The Princes of Darkness. They wreaked havoc on the land, destroying everything in their wake, until finally Lady Dawn and Lady Dusk were forced to go into battle with them. Their battle lasted for years, turning into a Great War which is now called: The Shadow war. The Princes of Darkness recruited many followers, all of which were turned to the dark side of there hearts. Finally, after much pain and sacrifice, The Princes of Darkness were defeated and banished into a realm of darkness for all eternity. After peace was restored to the land, Lady Dawn and Lady Dusk disappeared. Before they did, they made a promise to return when the people needed them again- but only if they truly needed them. Years after their disappearance, a seer came forward with a prophecy that both intrigued and feared the people of the land. Whether the prophecy is real or not, no one knows for sure. But if it is indeed true. . . Dawn and Dusk, have mercy on our souls.
Prophecy:
A thousand years we were told to wait, a twist in life to decide our fate. . . . The darkness returns to restart its plight, destroy all those who love the light, enslave the ones who care for night. . . Where darkness dwells there is always light, just as there is always night. . . Two heroes reborn to end the fight, Dawn and Dusk are coming.
For awhile, we were both silent. That's pretty intense. I say, finally. Amethyst nodded. This is kinda like Irene from minecraft diaries, huh? I joke. Amethyst pursed her lips. Hey Aria. . . She said, softly. Yeah? Do you notice anything. . . Odd about Lady Dawn and Dusk? Uh. . . What do you mean? They an awful lot like us. I turn and look at the tapestry. Well. . . I mean sure we have the same hair and skin tone, but I'm sure we don't look exactly the same. I mean my hair sure isn't that long, it barely reaches my shoulders. Plus, if they lived thousands of years ago, who can tell what they looked like? Your pretty much just judging on a picture made out of thread and fabric! Yeah. Amethyst said, eyes mellowing. I'm just being paranoid. How long is this book? She joked. I mean, that was just the first chapter! She flipped through the pages. There's a whole chapter about the shadow war. Ooh, that looks interesting. I say. But in the back of my mind, I was questioning.
Could we really be the one in the
prophecy?
