OUR CANVAS

we're all elevators.
we go up on happy days
where we want to stay up past the sun and run all night finding the end of the rainbow and eat lucky charms out of the box
well at least I do?
we go down on sad days
where we want the lights off to
surround in the darkness
and paint colors on the wall
never catching up to see what's
on our canvas
well at least I do?
The magic of an elevator
is pressing a button
and never knowing
what to expect behind the
mechanically engineered doors.
We got different numbers or letters
telling us where we're headed
but in reality we never know
we won't ever know.
That's why we're elevators
cause we can't ever decide whether
we can have an up or down day.
