"What's wrong with you? Stop tracking me." I finally burst out.

He shrugged, yet a slight of a smile embraced his brim. "I'm not."

Okay, this was irritating me now. "Look, that's my class. And I don't care which one is yours so leave me alone." I pointed at the doorway, two-three yards away.

"Oh really?" He grimaced mischievously. "Watch me then."

For an instance, I was beheld by his puzzling words and just stood there, nothing to call a reply. He walked towards the door and infiltrated in the classroom. He politely dubbed, "May I come in?"

I furrowed my eyebrows at his unhumoured act and waited for the teacher to throw him out. However, that didn't happen.

"Oh Jake, come in." This is what the educator rejoined instead.

I watched the guy wave at me, with a seemingly laughing face, as he entered the extent. Damn. I'd be amazed to concede that he was in my grade.

I shook my head to obstruct the building incense and paced through the door as well. Only this time, unlike the last greeting granted to Jake, the instructor stared at me for sometime before frowning, "Are you the newcomer we were supposed to encounter?"

I nodded, discharging the annoyance on her face. "I guess so."

I expected a better remark from her, but rather she chose to oppose my intention. "Well, disguises are not appreciated in this class. So I'd favor if you..."

She was just moving on with her sentence when someone shrieked, "Ma'am, she has some disease."

The complete division escalated silence and I noticed "Jake" face palming himself. Huh, so he did know that it was all his blemish. He ditched his head, examining me apologetically. As if that was ever going to work.

The teacher turned back to me. "Let's do the introduction fast, so that you can take a seat."

I reluctantly agreed and cleared my throat. "Hi, I'm Blake Williams and..."

"Okay, thank you, Blake. Now you may procure a seat," the teacher interrupted, smiling hesitantly.

If this was the starting, then I can't wait for it to end.

Nevertheless, I strode across the genre, surfing for a decent place to settle. But as expected, no one was ready to share a bench with me. The girls either put their bags on the empty passenger seats or called it as 'reserved'. The guys generally replied that they needed it for 'experiments'.

Now there were only two bases left. One, beside Jake, who seemed pleased with preserving the chair for me to choose as my foremost opinion; and two, the last bench.

I sighed and surfed my way through to Jake's table. He fixed the chair for me and shrugged an "it's your wish if you want to sit—it's empty anyway", monitoring me closely.

I smirked sharply and reached for the last bench, overtaking his conserved seat. I'm sure his jaw dropped as he studied me bypass and establish myself in the far, other corner of the class. That stated my first score in winning over that bloody coward.

I banged my head on the table as soon as the fifth period got over. Finally it was P.E. The interval where I'd get some break from the staring eyes that watched me for over two confounded centuries.

Or maybe not.

"Students, today we're going to have an interesting session," the coach began, "Today, we'll each get one partner and complete a treasure hunt."

I felt dead already.

"So, I give you all five minutes to figure out who's going to be your companion. And remember, the one who doesn't have a mate has to stay in detention and are free to clean the chewing-gums from under the benches. Your time starts now." He conclusively terminated his decision. A huge burden for me.

I glanced at the classroom. Who was going to be so absorbed to collaborate with me? The pretty girls were already steadied with their spouses and the nerdy ones attached to the geeks. Hence, I've no one.

I smacked my head on the desk again. When was this day ever getting over? It's not like I wanted to scrub some gums from the desks but I figured I had no choice.

Suddenly a rush of a noise filled the air, seizing me to gaze at the scenario. One-fourth of the girl-graders were lounged against Jake's stall, inquiring him to be their associate. Wow, he was damn fortunate.

I laid my head back on the counter, inspecting the entertainment roaring in his table. I wondered what part of him attracted the girls: was it his attitude? His facial features? His casual clothing?

Or was it his hazel, piercing eyes?

I drowned in the pool of my thoughts, disregard of the enthusiasm constructing in the room. I heard the teacher caution us with the three minutes we had and I was desperate for the time to end. It was not like I was going to acquire any cohort anyway.

Promptly, someone cleared their throat inches away from my ear. I initially looked up.

"Hey."

Not again.

"What'd you need? Those girls are lingering for you. Go and grasp them before the others," I clumsily replied.

"But I'm waiting for your answer," he said and I peeped at him with the corners of my eye. "Be mine?"

My eyes enlarged at his declaration. "What?"

He hesitated a moment before resuming, "I mean, want to team up?"

I sank back in my seat, scrutinizing the character in front. "Do I look like I'm interested?"

He gestured a shrug. "Honestly, we both know you are."

"What makes you think that?"

"See. I can't open your mask to prove that you're smiling, but if I did, you'd have gotten the evidence."

Whoa.

"Don't mention my mask. Ever. And no, you wouldn't have seen any smile hanging around my lips. That never happens. Please go now."

"So you're assisting to scour the tables?"

"None of your business." And with that, I thud my head onto the desk again. I heard him sigh and listened to his footsteps fading away. To my pleasure, he left.
