First and foremost, this book was started in part with the 25 Days of Winter Fest event going on on the discord I've joined. Their account @WritingOutcasts will be collecting the member's stories and archiving them in a reading list. Description:

Wesley James loved Christmas almost as much as he loved his 3-legged Border Collie, Rosie. That, and his job as the town's librarian and the coffee over at Pete's. But as a snowstorm rolls over, Wesley promises Rosie to go on a longer than usual walk to make up for the blustering and dangerous conditions that could last for days, even weeks. Despite the frigid temperatures and the low visibility, he holds onto his promise to take Rosie to her favorite spot, the lake.

Ethan Harden hated Christmas almost as much as he hated being a high-school dropout. Hated returning home to a family that scorned every decision he ever made. After all, it wasn't his idea to drop out, he had wanted to be a veterinarian. As Ethan's car breaks down passing through a small town as he took the long way around to home, he wonders if this was a sign. But when he notices a stranger and his dog in distress at the lake, Ethan's experience and instincts as a volunteer firefighter kick in.

Stranded in a small town, with a broken car, and trapped in a snowstorm hadn't been Ethan's idea of fun. But as Rosie's savior, Wesley allows Ethan to stay at his place until the storm passes. And as the days go on, both of them wonder if maybe, this had been more than just a coincidence. Maybe it had been the perfect place to fall.

Characters:

Ethan Harden - A volunteer firefighter in a larger neighboring town. A high-school dropout due to familial issues. Aspired to be a veterinarian. 25 yrs old.

Wesley James - The town's librarian, and a Pete's Coffee junkie. Enjoys reading, writing, visiting the floral shop, and going on walks with Rosie. 27 yrs old.

Rosie James - A three-legged Border Collie. Cancer survivor.  Has a white misshapen heart on her right shoulder, above her scar. 5 yrs old.

Daniel Monroe - Wesley's ex-boyfriend, died 2 years ago. Died when he was 25 yrs old (would be 27) from a hate crime. Originally Rosie's owner.

Benny - The florist's son who has a crush on Wesley. 24 yrs old.

Brittney - The florist's daughter. 27 yrs old. Friends with Wesley and Daniel from high school.

Wren James (soon to be Fletcher) - Wesley's sister. 30 yrs old. A middle school teacher in a neighboring town.

Abigail "Abby" Harden - Ethan's younger sister. 23 yrs old. Grad student, for psychology, minor in journalism (more her passion).

Harper Green - Ethan's older sister. 30 yrs old. Financial Analyst at a biotech firm.

Ash Harden - Ethan's oldest brother. 36 yrs old. Attorney.

Noah Harden - Ethan's second oldest brother. 34 yrs old. Doctor.

Maureen Harden - Ethan's mom. 62 yrs old. 

Clay Harden - Ethan's dad. 65 yrs old.
