27 December 2016

"Don't change so that people will like you. Be yourself so the right people love the real you."

Sadie's POV

"Be good," I said to Connor after I had hugged him.

He chuckled at me and smiled.

"When am I not good?" he asked me.

I smiled at him and ran my fingers down his cheek.

"Never. You're always good." I said, a smile ever present on my face.

"I love your smile. Remember what Grandma always said about smiling?" he asked.

I giggled and nodded my head.

"Don't frown. You never know who is falling in love with your smile." I said, quoting my grandmother's words.

Connor smiled at me and then grabbed my hand.

"Never stop smiling, okay? You have such a beautiful smile." he said and squeezed my smile.

I started tearing up, so I hugged him to hide them.

"Love you, Princess." he said into my hair.

"Always and forever." I said, pulling away from his hug.

"Go on, you're keeping Logan waiting." he said, gesturing over my shoulder at Logan who was waiting at the door for me.

"Okay, bye." I said and walked away from him.

I smiled at Logan and he smiled back. He pushed open the door and allowed me to go through first. We made our to the front doors of New York General Hospital. We got into his car and drove away. Music blasting through the stereo.

"So," Logan said, turning down the music.

"You wanna come over to my place? Isaac and Faye are coming over, you could get to know them." he asked, keeping his eyes on the road.

I thought about it for a minute and then replied with a smile.

"Sure, I'd love that and besides, I've never been to your place." I said.

He looked at me for s split second and smiled.

"True. How about on the way, we get to know each other a little more?" he asked.

I laughed at him.

"What's more to know? We've been friends for about 2 weeks. I've told you everything I can think of." I said.

Logan shrugged.

"I still have questions," he said, turning into my street.

"Okay, ask away." I said, watching as we flew by my block of flats.

"First, is Connor seriously you're only family? Don't you have any uncles or aunts?" he asked.

"Well, not really. We have an uncle, but he's in jail and our aunt isn't fit to take care of anyone." I said.

"That's messed up, are you okay?" he asked, generally concerned.

I squinted at him.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I laugh about it. We've never met them anyway, so what's the use of crying." I said.

Logan remained silent until he asked another question.

"How many boyfriends have you had?" he asked.

I laughed.

"So we're going onto that topic now!" I exclaimed.

He laughed.

"Yeah, now answer the question." he said.

"Well, one, unless you count George in second grade who kissed my under the basketball hoop." I said.

"Oh, it counts." he said with a smirk.

"What about you, Mr Pearce?" I asked.

He smirked.

"I've had two girlfriends, actual girlfriends." he said, turning into the driveway of a large block of flats.

"Wow, this place is huge." I said, getting out of the car.

"Really? I never noticed." he said.

We rode the elevator to the fourth floor and then stepped out. Logan walked up to door number 315 and unlocked the door. We stepped inside and I immediately recognised the smell of burnt toast.

"Isaac!" Logan called out.

There wasn't a reply, so Logan and I walked down the hallway and turned left into the kitchen. The sight was too good to look away. Isaac was taking throwing the burnt toast into the trash can, earphones in his ears as he danced around to whatever he was listening to – shirtless.

"Isaac!" Logan called out again.

Isaac spun around and nearly fell over. Logan chuckled and dropped his bag on the kitchen table. Isaac had his eyes glued on me. I smiled at him and blushed.

"Hi," I said quietly.

Isaac smiled and chuckled.

"Hi, I'm going to go put a shirt on." he said awkwardly and left the kitchen.

"Does he always dance and cook?" I asked Logan as I placed my bag on the kitchen table.

Logan nodded with a chuckle.

"Yeah, he does. We both try, but we're both really bad cooks. We end up ordering in every night." he laughed.

I laughed and followed him into the living room. It was quite big and it had a modern, cosy feeling about it. I was expecting a mess, but the apartment was spotless. I sat down on the sofa and so did Logan, joined by Isaac.

"Let's play truth or dare," Isaac exclaimed, rubbing his hands together.

"Yeah."

"No."

Logan and I looked at each other and laughed.

"Come on, it's fun." he said to me.

I shook my head, laughing.

"I'm terrible when it comes to giving dares." I said.

The doorbell rang and Logan sprung from the couch and jogged over to the door.

"Hey guys!" Faye greeted us, hugging each one of us then sitting beside me.

"What are we doing?" she asked.

"We're playing truth or dare." Logan said.

"Yes!" Faye smiled.

They all looked at me, expectantly. I huffed and smiled.

"Fine, but you've been warned." I said, pointing at them.

"Okay, Isaac's up first, since he came up with the idea." Logan said, leaning back in the sofa.

"Thank you," he said.

He spun the bottle and it landed on Faye.

"Faye, oh dear Faye." Isaac smirked.

"Truth," she smirked.

"Justin Bieber or One Direction?" he asked.

"One Direction all the way, baby!" she exclaimed, waving her arms in the air.

I laughed, she was really funny.

"Your turn, Faye." Logan said.

Faye spun the bottle and it landed on me.

"Truth or dare?" she asked me.

I smirked.

"Dare." I said.

Faye smirked.

"Lick Logan's hand," she said.

I gaped at her and looked to Logan. He was laughing, just like everyone else.

"Come on, get on with it!" she said, snapping her fingers.

Logan held his hand up and waited for me to lick his hand.

"I hope you're hands are clean," I muttered, leaning in and licking his palm.

Logan chuckled and pulled away, wiping his hand off on his pants. We were all laughing so hard, Faye was rolling around on the floor.

"Okay, my turn." I said and spun the bottle.

It landed on Isaac.

"Truth or dare?" I asked him.

He smirked.

"Dare," he said.

I hummed as I thought about a really funny dare.

"Um, I dare you to..." I thought then smirked.

"I dare you to drink a raw egg mixed with vinegar." I said.

I watched Isaac's face scrunch up in disgust as Logan and Faye doubled over in laughter. He got up and walked to kitchen. He brought back a cup, an egg and the bottle of vinegar.

"Bad at making dares my butt!" he mumbled, mixing the things together.

I laughed.

"Here goes," he said and downed the mixture.

"Ew..." Logan, Faye and I exclaimed, laughing.

Isaac swallowed and placed the cup down.

"That was disgusting," he said.

He spun the bottle and it landed on Logan.

"Truth or dare?" he asked.

Logan laughed and picked truth.

"Do you like someone?" he asked.

Logan smiled and blushed a little.

"Yes."

He grabbed the bottle and spun it. It landed on Faye.

"Truth or dare?" he asked her.

"I've already picked truth, so dare." she said.

"I dare you to go to the window and tell the first person you see that you love them." he said.

She laughed and got up. It was silent for a while, until she screamed at someone.

"I love you!"

We all laughed as she quickly walked back and sat down.

"My turn," she said and spun the bottle.

It landed on Isaac.

"I dare you to..." she then her eyes landed on Logan.

She smirked.

"I dare you to proclaim your love to Logan." she said.

I laughed out loud when I saw Isaac's eyes widen and Logan's face scrunch up.

"Okay," Isaac said, laughing.

He kneed down in front of Logan and took his hand.

"Logan, I've felt this way for a long time, but I didn't have the guts. Now thanks to Faye, I have to. Logan, I love you lots like jelly tots." he said, his acting skills were unbelievable.

Faye and I were laughing so hard we fell off our chairs. Isaac ended up punching Logan in the arm, resulting in Logan jumped on top of Isaac. Long story short, we all ended up on the floor.

"I'm hungry," Faye mumbled from beside me.

"Me too," the boys said in unison.

"Why don't we go out for once?" I suggested.

"Good idea. I say Burger King!" Faye exclaimed.

"Okay, let's go." Isaac said.

We all got up and grabbed our stuff.

"Who's driving?" Faye asked as we got to the parking lot.

"I'll drive," Isaac said.

"Shot gun!" Logan yelled and ran to the car, trying not to slip on the ice.

Faye and I got into the back of the car and Isaac turned on the radio. Seasons by Olly Murs blasted through the stereo.

"Yes! Gotta love Olly Murs!" Isaac exclaimed and turned it up.

They were a weird bunch...

~&~

"Four whopper burgers with fries and four large Pepsi's, please." Isaac ordered, while Faye, Logan and I walked away to find a free booth.

"I'll be back now," Logan said and turned back to help Isaac with the order.

"So, tell me about yourself." I said to Faye.

She smiled.

"I have two brothers, both older. I live with my second oldest brother, because the other one is married. I'm 20. I don't play any instruments. I love soccer. Um, what else is there?" she laughed.

I laughed and shrugged.

"How's your love life?" I asked.

She blushed and shook her head.

"It's great! My boyfriend's name is Tyler and he's hot." she said and winked at me.

I laughed and shook my head.

"I'm happy for you," I said.

"What about you?" she asked.

"I don't have a boyfriend, or a love life to be honest." I said.

She giggled.

"Well, we have to change that, unless you like being single." she said.

I shrugged.

"I do like being single," I said.

She nodded.

"Yeah, I did too." she smirked.

"Food's here..." the boys exclaimed and sat down with us.

"Okay, we're going to play the coin game." Isaac said.

"What's the coin game?" I asked.

Logan nodded and swallowed.

"That's right, you're new! It's a game we play in the FIL club." he said simply.

What?

"FIL club?" I asked, turning to Faye.

"Faye, Isaac and Logan club." she said.

I nodded.

"But I think the name needs an upgrade, don't you think?" Isaac asked.

Faye nodded and smiled.

"FILS club?" she suggested.

"Hmm, try something else?" Logan shook his head.

"FILaS?" Isaac suggested.

"We don't have an A," Faye said.

"Man, the 'a' stands for 'and'. Logan, Isaac, Faye and Sadie. We spell the 'a' lower-case." Isaac explained.

"Okay, now that we have the name sorted, what's the game?" I asked.

"Okay, so this is how it works. Say, for instance, Faye starts the game. She'll have a penny in her hand. Then we'll start and she'll past in underneath the table and then we'll stop. We all then fist our hands and place them on the table, and one of us will have the coin in their fist. You catching on?" Logan asked me.

I nodded.

"We should have more people, but we'll just have to make do." Faye said.

"Okay, I'll start. We're going anti-clockwise." Logan said and got a penny out of his wallet.

"Go!" Faye exclaimed and the game begun.

I saw everyone moving underneath the table and then Isaac's hand touched mine, placing the coin into my hand. His hand was warm and rough. I couldn't hide the blush. I quickly passed the coin onto Logan. He took the coin and quickly passed it on. His hands were warm, but not so rough.

Really Sadie? You're comparing their hands?

I pushed the thoughts out of my head and heard someone say, "Stop!" We all slammed our fists on the table and stared at each other.

"Sadie, you choose." Logan said.

"Okay, um..." I said, looking around at the three other people.

I noticed Faye smiling and Isaac with a blank stare. Logan was Logan, there's nothing much to explain there; he was always smiling.

"Uh, Faye?" I guessed.

She laughed and shook her head. Isaac opened his hand and there lay the penny. We all laughed and played a few more rounds before we paid for our food and left. Just like before, Isaac drove and Logan sat shotgun. We soon arrived back at Logan's place.

"Guys, I'm sorry to cut our little outing short, but Tyler and I have plans this evening." Faye said, a blush covering her cheeks.

"Oh, that's fine." Logan said, giving her a hug.

"Thanks," Faye said, giving Isaac and I a hug.

"No funny business!" Isaac yelled after her.

She laughed and got into her car.

"Are you in a rush to get home, Sadie?" Logan asked me.

"Uh, no not really. I mean, what would I do?" I asked.

Logan chuckled.

"Probably sit in front of the TV for hours on end." he said.

"You guessed correct." I said as we made our way up to Logan and Isaac's room.

"Do you have a boyfriend, Sadie?" Isaac asked.

I blushed and chuckled.

"No, I don't." I said.

"Why not?" he asked.

I shrugged.

"I don't know. I broke up with my last boyfriend last year, and I guess we've both been a little raw." I said.

"I'm sorry to hear about that," he said as we entered their apartment.

"Hey, Sadie, listen. Isaac, Faye and I are going on a road trip this weekend. Do you want to come?" Logan asked me.

"Um," I said, not sure about what to say.

"I know we've only known each other for like 2 weeks, but we've spent everyday together. Surely, you trust me, right?" he asked.

I nodded.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"We're heading out to a cabin outside of the city. It belongs to Faye's family, but it's basically hers. We go there every year." Isaac said.

I nodded and pursed my lips.

"Rooms?" I asked.

Logan smiled, his dimples sticking out again.

"There are two rooms, with two beds. Girls in one and guys in the other. Perfectly safe." he said.

I blushed and laughed.

"Okay, I'll think about it and let you know." I said.

Isaac and Logan smiled and high-fived each other.

"Faye will be so happy. She always complained about being the only girl." Isaac said.

I smiled, but then frowned.

"What about her boyfriend? Doesn't she ever bring him?" I asked.

Logan shrugged.

"Well, the last time we were there, she wasn't dating him. So she'll either not come, come without him or come with him. But he'd get the extra room." he said.

I nodded.

"Okay, good." I said.

I felt my cellphone ding in my pocket. I pulled it out and saw a message. Thinking it was Connor, I opened it. I was shocked to find it wasn't Connor, but instead Hank.

There was a burglary in the apartment next to yours. Don't worry, your place is safe. Just thought I'd let you know.

- Hank

I frowned and put my phone away.

"Who was that?" Logan asked.

"Hank, someone was robbed in the apartment next to mine. He just wanted to let me know." I said.

He nodded.

"I'm going to bathroom, be right back." he said and excused himself .

I was left with Isaac. I smiled at him and he scooted up, so he was sitting beside me on the sofa.

"So, do you like him?" he asked.

"What?" I said, not expecting him to ask me that straight up like that.

"Do you have feelings for Logan?" he asked me.

"I only met him 2 weeks ago," I said.

He smirked.

"That's not a no, Sads." he said.

"Sads?" I questioned.

"Don't change the subject, do you like him?" he asked.

This guy had a motive alright!

"No, not really. Why do you want to know so badly?" I asked.

I only had a small crush on him, I wouldn't even define it as a crush. Isaac smirked at me.

"I just want to know what you're type is." he said with a shrug.

I chuckled and turned to face the TV.

"I'm glad that it wasn't you who was robbed." he said quietly, making me turn my attention to him.

"Yeah, me too." I smiled at him.

He smiled back.

"I think the group is a little brighter with you in it. We needed someone like you." he said.

"Someone like me?" I asked, cocking an eyebrow at him.

He chuckled and nodded.

"Yeah, funny, sarcastic, shy, sweet..." he said.

I blushed at his words and looked down.

"And beautiful."

I looked up and saw Isaac looking directly into my eyes. He was smiling. I couldn't explain what I felt in that moment. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know whether to look away or to keep getting lost in his brown eyes.

The toilet flushed and we both looked away from each other, knowing Logan was coming back. When he did, he smiled at me and walked over to us. Isaac moved up to give Logan back his seat.

"What did you guys talk about?" Logan asked me.

"The new group," I said, not wanting to lie.

"Yeah, the new name is cool too." he agreed.

I looked over Logan's shoulder to see Isaac smiling at me. I looked back to Logan.

"Yeah, it is." I said and looked at the time on my phone.

"Uh, it's getting late. I should go." I said and stood up.

"Yeah, I'll drive you." Logan said and stood up too.

"Thanks." I said.

I walked over to Isaac and hugged him goodbye.

"Bye, Sads." he said.

I smiled at him.

"Bye, Isaac." I said and walked into the kitchen to get my bag.

Logan grabbed his keys and we made our way out of the apartment.

What just happened?
