Chapter 12: Begin Again
Hi everyone, don't kill me :)
Here's your long awaited chapter. Things are going to take a turn, as you can tell by the title.
This is my very very best, but I thought it would suffice for now. I am working on a few new things for this novel ;) so please bear with me for a bit longer.
Now without any further ado, enjoy ;)

After I got home from that ghastly hospital last night, all I desired to do was to sit on the shower floor with the hot water on full blast. I wanted to sit there, crawled up in a fetal position and give up on trying to hold myself together. I had tried for so long and I didn't want to be "okay" any longer.
I would've done that, if it hadn't been for Connor who wouldn't leave me alone. He demanded I tell him what happened. He dropped his book and ran to me. I collapsed into his arms and let him hold me. Through the tears, I tried my best to explain what happened. He seemed to understand my words. He helped me gather myself and get me in the shower. As I showered, I thought about how I was going to get out of this.
~*~
I woke up to Connor poking me the next morning. I pried my one eye open and saw he had breakfast for me. I smiled up at him.
"You're the best brother ever." I whispered.
I sat up against the headboard of my bed and watched as he laid the breakfast on my lap. He then disappeared to go get his. He came back with his breakfast and sat beside me. We watched a comedy movie together and laughed, nearly choking on our delicious breakfast. I felt a lot better than I did last night. Connor was always that one person who cheered me up when I felt down.
Later that morning, as I washed the dishes, I heard a knock on the door. I quickly dried my hands and went to answer it. I unlocked it and opened it to see a stranger; a handsome stranger.
He looked down at me and smiled. He was tall, and had dark brown hair that was styled naturally. He had beautiful blue eyes and freckled painted pale face. His features were sharp, but he looked like a sweet personality.
"Um, can I help you?" I asked, smiling at the stranger.
"Yes, is Connor Thomas here?" he asked, a thick British accent ringing in his words.
"Um, may I ask why? Or who you are?" I asked.
He chuckled and rubbed his chin.
"Right, pardon me. I'm Froy Winston, and you are?" he asked me, holding out his hand.
I stuck out my hand to shake his.
"I'm Sadie Thomas, Connor's sister." I told him.
He nodded and shook my hand gently. He smiled and looked inside.
"Um, so now that you know who I am. May I come in?" he asked with a light chuckle.
"Uh, sure."
I let him in and offered him tea. He took a seat on the sofa as he waited for Connor. I honestly didn't think Connor had any friends aside from mine, so this was a pleasant surprise.
"Connor should be finished showering soon, here's your tea so long." I handed him his tea.
"Thanks." he said with a smile.
This boy was a serious heart-melter. He must be such a chic-magnet.
Connor came out of the bathroom, all dressed and threw his towel in his room. I rolled my eyes, knowing it was going to be lying there forever if I didn't pick it up.
"Froy!" he greeted his friend.
Froy stood up and they did their weird guy-hug thing with a handshake.
"What brings you around here?" Connor asked.
"I was wondering if you wanted to do something later. They're showing Dressed In Red later today, if you're interested?" he asked.
"You're not serious? I am so going," he said, but then caught sight of me.
"Actually, I can't today..." he said, regrettably.
"Hold up there! You are not going to stay here in this sucky apartment because of me when you could be out there living it up. You are 21. Have some adult fun." I insisted.
"You sure?" Connor asked.
"You're welcome to join us, Sadie? I'm sure you could use some time out here as well?" Froy offered.
I was unsure of this. I knew it would be good for me to get out a little, but I also didn't want to bump into Isaac somewhere. Also, Dressed In Red wasn't exactly my type of movie.
"Um, I think I'd rather just hang here with pillow number one and two, and binge watch Disney movies." I said, chuckling.
Froy gave me a half-hearted smile.
"Are you sure?"
I nodded at him.
"Yes, I'm certain. Besides, my brother deserves some guy time. He hasn't had it in so long." I smiled at Connor.
"All right, I'll go." Connor said, kissing my forehead and jogging to his room to get his jacket and wallet.
Froy looked at me, resting his elbows on his knees.
"Something bothering you?" I asked him.
"I'm just trying to figure you out." he said plainly.
I frowned at him and sat down on the bar stool at the kitchen counter.
"Why?" I asked.
He shrugged and shot me a sweet smile.
"You just seem hesitant to leave, but you're dying to have fun? I'm just wondering why." he told me.
I looked down and nodded. He was either really intelligent or rather observant, maybe both. He looked at me for a while longer before speaking up again.
"I don't know what's going on in your head, but if you'd let me, I'd like to help. You're brother's taking some time anyway..." he laughed.
He laughter at his last comment.
"Yeah, he's a lot like a girl when it comes to going out. He takes absolutely forever." I said.
"So, what's bothering you, if that's no too bold of me to ask?" he said politely.
I smiled and shook my head.
"It isn't too bold, I just don't really want to bring the subject up." I said.
He nodded and looked out the window.
"It can be difficult to explain what our minds don't understand, isn't it?" he turned back to me.
"Well, whatever it is that is troubling your mind, I think you should end it. Pin the problem down by the root and destroy it." he advised.
"It's easier said than done. I hurt someone because I was too scared to hurt them. It's messed up." I admitted.
He laughed and stood up to meet my eyes. He stood in front of me and placed his hand on my shoulder and said,
"Her mouth speaks from that which fills her heart." he said clearly.
I looked at him, confused. His words were profound, almost as if quoting a book or Shakespeare.
"Is that from a novel or something?" I asked him.
He chuckled and let go of my shoulder, shoving his hands in his pockets.
"It's from the bible, actually. It's from the book of Luke, Luke 6:45 to be exact. What I'm trying to say is, tell them the truth, if that is what your heart is telling you to do." he told me.
I made an 'O' shape with my mouth as I nodded, showing him I understood. It only made him laugh though.
"You're a Christian?" I asked.
"You're not?" he shot back at me.
I smirked at him. I was about to give him a comeback to remember, but Connor walked back in.
"Okay, Froy, let's get out of here!" he said, kissing my head and pushing him out the door.
"Good evening, Sadie!" Froy yelled as they left.
I huffed and grabbed the TV remote. This would be a long day.

After lying on the couch for most of the morning, I decided to get up and do something. I started cleaning the kitchen, but I couldn't stop thinking about Isaac. I huffed and dropped the dish clothe and grabbed my cell. I dialled Faye.
"Hey!" she answered.
"Hey, could you come pick me up?" I asked.
"Are you okay?" she asked.
"Yeah, I just need to get out a little." I said.
"And talk a little?" she guessed.
"Yeah," I chuckled.
She knew me better than I knew myself sometimes.
"I'll be there in 5, see you." she said and hung up.
After a while, Faye arrived in her mint green combi.
"Remember the last time we were in here?" she asked as I hopped into the passenger seat.
I laughed as I recalled all the silly things did.
"Roberta's?" she suggest.
I nodded, already looking forward to my usual latte.
We got there after a few minutes and found a seat.
"It's about Isaac." I started.
"Thought it would be." she nodded.
"I really hurt him, and I want to make it right. I don't know how though, and you're his closest friend. Surely, you would know what to do?" I asked.
"Just tell him the truth. From what you've told me, you didn't say anything and he assumes you have feelings for someone else." she said.
"I know, that's why I want to talk to him." I said.
"Well, I could always take you to him after this. Sooner the better, I always say." she said.
"Will he let me though?" I asked her as the waiter came with our drinks.
"If you do it right, then he will." she assured me, taking a sip of her cappuccino.
~*~
After coffee with Faye, we went to Isaac's. I felt nervous; the kind of nervous that makes you feel nauseous. I didn't work well with conflict. I swallowed hard as we arrived at his front door.
"Is Logan here too?" I asked Faye before she knocked.
"No, he's running some errands today." she said and knocked.
I frowned...How did she know that?
Soon the door opened and there stood Isaac, with a bowl of fruit loops in his one hand and a TV remote in the other. I swear he nearly dropped his cereal when he saw me.
"What are you doing here?" he asked Faye.
"We're here to talk," she stated and walked straight in.
I looked at Isaac for a moment before he walked in after her, leaving me alone at the door.
Well, this is going to be fun...
I closed the door behind me and joined the two on the sofa.
"What do you want to talk about?" he addressed Faye.
She smiled at me and grabbed my forearm.
"Actually, Sadie here is the one who wants to do the talking." she stated.
"Look before you say anything, I just want to-"
"Don't!" I cut him off.
"I need to get this out and you're not going to stop me. I came here to apologise for hurting you. I felt so bad about what happened. I didn't mean to put it like that, I just didn't know what to say and-"
"Sadie, it's okay!" Isaac cut me off.
"Excuse me?" I gasped, sitting there gaping at him.
"It doesn't really matter. It's over, it happened and I'm okay with it." he said.
I sat there in silence for a while before nodding.
"Okay." I mumbled, rather puzzled at his sudden change of heart.
"Things need to go back to the way they were, Sads. I miss the happy times. With everything that has happened with Finley passing and the accident, I just want to be happy again." he confessed.
I looked up at him and smiled.
"I agree." I said.
"Group hug!" Faye exclaimed and carefully pulled the three of us into a hug, cautious of his injured arm.
Isaac and I laughed as we all held onto one another.
"But Sads," Isaac started.
"Yes?" I asked as we pulled away.
"I know it's Logan." he said.
I sucked in a quick breath, completely astonished. He looked at me and smiled.
"It's obvious by the way you look at him, and the way he looks at you. There's something there."
I looked at Faye. She was watching Isaac closely. I wondered what was going through her mind in the midst of all this.
"Oh wow, um..." I stammered.
Isaac chuckled and grabbed my hand. I sighed and leaned my head on his shoulder. None of what he said to me made sense. He confessed he liked me and now he's telling me to go for his best friend? He's acting like he didn't say anything?
"You baffle me sometimes."
"Whoa! Hi," we heard after the door slammed shut.
"Hi," I said.
"Uh, what's going on?" he asked.
"Oh, just recalling some good memories." I said.
"Come on, man. Sit next to Sadie." Isaac said, making a spot between us.
Logan sat down beside me and my cheeks began to feel warm again.
"Since we're recalling memories, how about we talk about that time that I nearly gave Faye a heart attack at the log cabin?" Logan asked with a smirk on his face.
"No, we're not!" Faye scolded as she blushed red.
And that was how it all began...again.
