Chapter 9

So this is a kinda terribly written chapter, and I'm glad I got another chapter in soon, so yay me!! Lol, ok, so yeah, I might need to change the description of this whole thing cuz the scroll part is gonna have to wait. I've got some ideas and I'll try to update in the next two weeks. Thanks for reading up till now, like thanks a lot. This is probably the farthest I've gotten with a story, all thanks to you guys. So thanks a lot, I'm still really surprised this story has gotten over 1k views.

Sophie POV

The world turned, as thoughts came up into my mind. But it didn't look like the Neverseen symbol. Maybe they changed their logo?
I looked around the small cave, still huddled in corner, as I saw a small crack of water flowing from the top, across the dark grey cavern. It was coated in mud and dust, making my eyes itch, as I carefully stood up, taking a step on the partially cracked floor. Something must have stampeded here. Right then I heard a light scrape on the floor, as if someone had moved their hand.
"Hello?" I asked, in a hushed voice hoping someone was here, as I moved towards the dark corner cautiously.
"Sophie?" I heard a very familiar voice. I took me a while to get it, but a minute later I placed the voice. It couldn't be...
"K-Kenric?"
"Yes, Sophie. I'm alive."
Tears started to flow, as I made my way over to the voice, Kenric was in a hooded cloak. The Neverseen must've captured him, while the fire was going. I gave him a hug, glad to see he was safe and he wasn't dead.
"How? How are you alive?"
"You can't tell anyone else Sophie, okay? Just sit down."
"Okay."
"Fintan saved me."
The words caught me by surprise, as I let out a stressed laugh. "What?"
"He saved me from the fire, he thought I would be valuable. Turns out he was wrong."
I had a question on my mind and it had been annoying me for so long, so I quickly asked, "are you my dad?"
He quietly shook his head. "No, Sophie."
"Oh. Okay. Do you know where we are? We need to get out of here."
Right then, Kenric stood up and I did too... The next moments a blur. He had grabbed both of my wrists and had pinned my to the cavern wall, his breath hot on my face.
"Now tell me, Sophie. Where's my cache?"
"Kenric, what's wrong with you?"
The figure shook his head, making the hood fall off, revealing a teenage boy with golden blond hair, and bright sky blue eyes. He had a small scar on his cheek, and he was literally the most beautiful boy I had ever seen, and maybe I would've been more taken with him if he didn't have me all pinned up to a wall. "Where is the cache? Who has it?"
"Who... Who are you?" I exclaimed.
"That's irrelevant. Where is the cache?"
"I don't know."
"Liar," he whispered. Then his lips touched my ear sending shivers down my back. "We all know you have it."
"I don't have it," I said, as he pressed harder on my wrists sending a small shriek of pain.
"Then who does?"
"I don't know."
"Yes, you do."
Why haven't I inflicted on him yet? I'm so stupid. I thought of the rage building in me, and I tried to let it out on him, but it didn't work. My abilities aren't working.
"No, I don't," I said persistent to keep everyone safe. He heard quaver in my voice, telling him I had figured out my abilities stopped, and let out a laugh.
"You know what?" He asked loosening his grip on my wrists. "We're staying here until you tell me. You and me, sweetheart."

Dex POV

"What?" I asked, pretty sure I had misheard him.
"The. Black. Swan. Kidnapped-" he slowly said.
"I get it okay? I'm not a toddler."
"You sure about that?"
"Fitz!" Biana exclaimed, as I grumbled. I've always felt like the odd one out in this group.
As if Biana had been reading my mind, she said, "don't pay attention to him. He's just jealous."
Of me? Why would he be jealous of me? I thought I was the jealous one... But I kept my mouth shut.
"How do you know it's the Black Swan?" She asked.
Fitz held up a small bottle marked with a Swan. Then he carefully uncorked it, then spilled the paper onto his hand. Inside it was written in neat calligraphy,

So you want your friend back? Give use the cache. As soon as possible, place the cache in the cave, and we'll return your friend.

"Where did you find that?"
"The cave Sophie was kidnapped in the first time. The one under Havenfield," sending a shiver down my spine. I had been captured just like Sophie had... But I remember most of it. The thought of the hot material on my back... I still have a scar. I closed my eyes for a second pushing away the image of Sophie lying there, as bile rose up my throat, and tears threatened to fall. Not in front of Biana, I told myself, staying strong for her sake. She was a strong girl, but I could tell her breaking point was soon.
"Oh," Biana exclaimed. "It was your footprints. I thought they might've been her kidnapper's."
"But why would the Black Swan do this?"
"I don't know..."
"We need to save Sophie. But we can't give up the cache, can we?"
"No, we can't."
Biana rested her head I my shoulder. "So what are we going to do?"
I almost forgot Tam was there, and made startled eye contact with him, when he said, "We need to come up with a plan, obviously."
"How?" I asked ignoring his tone.
Linh spoke up instead this time. "What about Sandor? Do you think he could smell the note and see if he knows the smell or something?"
"Maybe?"
"How long has it been since you told Keefe?" Linh asked, sending a slightly jealous look in Fitz's eyes.
"About two hours. He'll be here soon."
I could hear the stress in his voice, as his eyes glistened. I looked around the group, the pressure on everyone's face making it seem like we're going to go insane unless we figure something out soon...
"The Black Swan is supposed to be good. There supposed to be on our side," Biana let out in a frustrated scream.
I put a hand on her back, and said, "I think it's time we talk to old Forkle again. But this time we'll get all the answers."
"We need to wait for Keefe though."
We heard a rustle in the bush nearby and then a voice...
"Keefe? Keefe's not coming."

My original plan was to have Sophie and Keefe to meet up and he saves the day and stuff, but then the story would move too quickly so, here we are!! I hope I can update soon, and I really hope you like this story so far.
