Eleanor

In life you tend to learn a thing or two. And once you do, you carry it with you throughout your life. Life is hard, that's a known fact, it's not easy. There will always be an obstacle that you have to overcome. There is always something that will make you, well you.

Eleanor Rackow was a young girl who strived to live. At a young age she understood how cruel the world could be. She understood the hardships one had to go through. All she wanted was to get her grimoire, join the Coral Peacocks and provide for her mother. It was a far fetched dream, but not impossible. She had heard rumors of a commoner who had joined the Purple Orcas, it was surprising, but it gave her hope. Hope that not just nobles and royals can become magic knights, but a commoner as well. She had learned that Yami Sukehiro was a foreigner, and that Julius had begged for him to join the Grey Deers. Him being a noble made her see that not all nobles were bad, which gave her more hope.

To her, Julius was a strange character, he was a strange man who wanted to discover new magic everyday. He was a man child, that is the way she would put it. But he made her laugh, he often visited and tried to help her mother out, but Emelda would deny it and go about her normal routine. She believed that Julius was the answer to social equality. And one day, she hoped that he would become the next wizard king.

Grey Deer Base

Julius Novachrono sat at his desk, trying to do his paperwork, but ultimately failing in the end. His mind wondered to certain stuff, specifically magic. He was always fascinated with the different types of magic that existed, at times he was exploring the kingdom. He never knew how to sit still. His time magic was incredible, but it was strange that he possessed a cover less grimoire. His mind wandered to a pair of females. He wasn't one to pry himself into others lives, but he wanted to be more involved with the two.

The young girl had told him of their situation and about what her mother did for a living. He knew, that because she was still a child, she still didn't understand the situation her mother had gotten into. She simply thought that it would go away someday. But he knew that wouldn't happen, but every time he offered to help, the woman would turn him down. Stating that she needed to prove to her daughter that she was a strong and independent woman. He stopped his train of thought when the door to his office opened.

"You still thinking about the two from Nairn?"

Julius looked up to see none other than Yami Sukehiro.

"Caught me red handed!" He held his hands up in defense.

"Geez, you're so caught up with them, why don't you marry the woman or something?"

"I don't want marriage!" He stood up, "nothing of the sort, I just want to help is all."

"Then help."

"It's not as easy as it seems."

"Oh yeah? How so?"

"Every time I offer help she turns me down. She wants to do everything herself."

"Then why don't you just help her along the way? Stop trying to convince her to do something she won't do. It won't get you anywhere, instead just help her out from behind."

"You're a genius, Yami!"

"I was just stating the obvious." He shrugged his shoulders.

"I'll be back, you're in charge!"

"Hey! Wait!"

But he was too late, the older man was already on his broom, flying to the small town. Once he arrived to Nairn, he walked around looking for a pair of brunettes.

His eyes stopped upon the small light haired brunette. She waited outside of a building, her back against the dirty wall. He made his way over carefully observing her.

"This is a weird place to sit."

She jumped upon hearing his voice, but her brown eyes soon filled with joy when they landed on him.

"Mister Julius!" She shot up, holding her small hands together.

"Hello, Eleanor! Now, mind telling me why you are here of all places." He pointed to the buildings. It was old and ran down, a picture of a naked woman was plastered on the front to lure in more customers. This was were her mother worked, where she would wait everyday because she was to scared to stay home alone.

"I'm waiting for mother."

"She works here?" Worry laced through his voice, 'she's so sweet...why would she work at a place like this?'

"She said it's the only way she can get enough money to feed us."

Julius stayed silent, pondering the recent information, "how about you and I go on a little walk?"

"Alright!" She cheered, eagerly pulling him along. Pointing out very little things, only bringing a smile to the man's face.

"My! Aren't you energetic today!"

"Only because you came to visit!" She smiled, her sharp teeth showing.

"Is that so?"

She nodded her head eagerly, "whenever you come to visit it's always fun!" She smiled softly, "you make me happy, I never knew my dad...in a way...I think of you as a figure to fill that hole."

Julius smiled softly while rubbing her brown locks.

"I'm glad!" He then brought her to his broom, instructing her to sit. With her in front of him he began to fly around the town, giving her a new view.

"This is so cool!" Eleanor threw her arms up while laughing, "I can't wait to get my grimoire!"

"Haha! You'll be a fine mage one day, Eleanor!"

"And I'm gonna join the Coral Peacocks!"

"Yea-wait!!!! Why the Coral Peacocks! You should join the Grey Deers!"

"Why would I?" She bluntly asked, causing his ego to pop.

"You're so mean." He sulked.

He watched as she held an expression on her face, one he has never seen before. He hasn't known the girl for long, but he could tell that she was different. She was more expressive and more genuine. She now was more confident in her future. But this wouldn't last, nothing ever does soon tragedies will always fall.
