Not all life is simple, it is an obvious fact. Commoner's all around have to struggle. But it's not all bad, in fact, they live life to their fullest intent.
But, life is still hard in the forsaken realm. A small girl sat in the ally, her head dropped to her knees hugging them close to her malnourished form. She was waiting outside of the building where her mother worked. Her mother did the best she could to raise money. She did it so her daughter could have a better life.

She moved with grace, she never wanted to do this. But it was for her daughter, her little Eleanor. It was all so she could survive in this cruel world.
Eleanor peaked up to see her mother exiting the building. The woman held her hand out. Emelda Rackow was a woman who had just gotten herself into a bad situation. Eleanor was born when she found out she was pregnant with her regular clients child. His name was Jackson, and he was far from nice person. But once he found out she was pregnant he had forced her to marry him. When she gave birth to her daughter he later died after being jumped. He was killed for not paying his debt. When they had found out that Emelda was his wife they told her she needed to make the money up or they would hurt her and Eleanor. So she worked everyday of the week and did anything she could if it meant she got money.
Eleanor grasped her mother's hand, "it will get better mom."
Emelda looked down at her eleven year old daughter. She seemed to be the one taking care of her rather than the other way around.
"I know, darling."
They walked into their old run down house. It was small, but it was all they needed to stay away from the harsh winters. Emelda sat across from her daughter at their small table, in front of the two laid a small piece of meat
"Eat, dear." She pushed the meat over, Eleanor took it and began to cut it in half, sliding the other half to her mother.
"This way, we both get at least a little bit to eat."
Tears ran down Emelda's tan cheeks, she smiled before eating alongside her daughter who in return smiled back.

Life was never easy, everyone knew that, sometimes you had to do bad things so you could live.
"Get back here!"
Eleanor ran, two pieces of bread in her arms.
"You little brat!"
She closed her eyes, running faster, away from the man who was chasing her. He caught up to her, throwing her to the ground.
"I'll teach you for stealing." He began to kick her, but she Heald onto the bread, letting the older man beat her, "little runt." He spit on her before giving her one last kick.
Eleanor laid there, breathing heavily, still holding the mangled bread.
"Man, what the hell happened to you?"
She peaked under her light brown hair, meeting the hard gaze of brown eyes. He was rubbing the back of his neck while looking down at her. He was a tall tan boy with spiky brown hair. He held a bored expression. A sword was strapped to his side as well. Eleanor looked up at him, a dead look in her brown eyes.
"Not a talker?" He crouched down to her level, seeing the mangled bread, when he reached his hand out she scooted away quickly. Holding the bread to her chest, "you don't plan on eating that crap do you? You'll get sick for sure, kid."
"Food...I need it...mother needs it..."
Sighing he stood up, rubbing his hand.
"Eleanor!"
A woman with dirty brown hair and pale, sunken in skin, ran towards the, you could see that her brown eyes sunk into her face, showing her baggy eyes off. The woman brought the young girl into her arms.
"I got food..." She showed off the bread.
"Dear..." She held her beat up face in her delicate shaking hands, "you shouldn't have." She cried into her daughters hair, "I'm so sorry...I'm so sorry that this happened."
The young boy cleared his throat, catching her attention.
"I'm sorry if my daughter did-"
"She didn't do anything, in fact, you two look like you need help."
"Sir-"
"Yami. Yami Sukehiro. Don't call me sir, I'm only fifteen..."
"Are you the foreigner they speak of?"
"I guess so." He sighed, "listen, I'm a magic knight, and I guess it's my job to help you and your daughter...so let's go get some food."
"You don't have to!"
"Shut up before I change my mind." He began to walk off, causing them to follow after him.

Yami chuckled to himself, watching as the young girl scarfed her food down while the mother carefully ate her's, "kid's got an appetite!"
"I suppose...I suppose I should introduce myself...I'm Emelda, this here is my daughter Eleanor."
"Say mister Yami, you got a grimiore right?" Eleanor asked.
"I got it right here, kid." He pulled it out, showing it off to the young girl.
"What squad are you a part of?"
"He's a part of the Grey Deer."
They turned to see a tall male with shirt blonde hair and purple eyes. He had a gentle smile, "so this is where you have been, Yami. I've been looking all over for you."
"Doing what magic knights should do." He gestured to the two.
"Say mister, are you a magic knight too?"
"I sure am, I'm the captain! I'm Julius Novachrono, what's your name?"
"Eleanor Rackow!" She smiled, "I wanna be a magic knight too!"
"Is that so?"
She nodded her head, "so I can get a enough money so that my mom can have a happy life!"
"Eleanor..." Emelda gasped, "I should be the one to do that."
"But you try your best every day to make sure I eat, when I become a magic knight I'll take care of you!"
"That's very noble of you, Eleanor, the magic knights would be happy to have someone like you on our team. What is your magic."
"Binding magic." She smiled, "I can bind anything together, once my bindings are attached you are no longer able to use magic!"
"How incredible!"
"Tell me more!"
"I really don't know much..." She rubbed the back of her neck.

After their talk, Yami had agreed to let them stay the night. He peaked in and watched as Eleanor tucked her mother in.
"Nakitaku naru youna yasashii oto

She kissed her mother's temple and laid on the floor.
Life was never easy for those who struggled.
