Allison POV

To be completely honest, I hate winter. Don't get me wrong, the snow is absolutely beautiful. And I love getting all warm and cozy. But the thing about winter is that it's always cold. Like why should I spend all of that extra time adding those extra layers of clothing when in the summer time, I can just walk outside? Don't get me wrong - I'm a very proud Canadian, but it would save a lot more time. Anyways, my point is that... well, I guess I don't really have a point.

I live in a large house in Toronto, Ontario, with my mom, my dad, and my sister, Madeline (We call her Maddy). Maddy is two years younger than me, I am 16 and she is 14. I know this may sound crazy, but we've never been outside of Canada. Well, to be completely honest, I haven't even been outside of the greater Toronto area. My parents are a little overprotective. Okay, a lot overprotective.

It's Saturday morning, so I decide to start off my day with a walk in the park. So I get all bundled up in my winter coat, mittens, and my favourite earmuffs. While I am walking, I see that they have set up the Christmas decorations and activities, including the ice rink. I immediately pull out my phone and call my most frequently used contact, my best friend Evelyn.

"Hey Evie, they put up the ice rink! Wanna come join me for our first skate of the season?" I ask.

"You don't even have to ask!" She replies.

"So, meet me here in five?"

"For sure."

I know I can always count on Evie when I need her. We have been friends since the first day of kindergarten.

**FLASHBACK**
"Mommy stay with me!" I cry. It was my first day of kindergarten, and I was so nervous and scared.

"No, sweetie I have to go to work!" my mom says, "trust me, I wish I could stay! But, you have some friends waiting for you to go inside the classroom!"

I am still crying, and suddenly, a girl my age comes outside to greet us. "Hi! My name is Evelyn, what's yours?" she asks shyly.

"A-allison." I reply hesitantly.

"Would you like to come play with me, Allison?"

**END OF FLASHBACK**

"Hey Allie!" a very familiar voice calls out.

"Evie!" I run over and hug her.

We walk over to the counter to rent out some skates. We put them on and make some small talk while we do it. When we are finished, we step onto the ice. I am a bit unstable at first, as I haven't skated in almost a year. Once I catch my balance, I start skating around with Evie. I playfully try to do a fancy spin, but just then, my feet fall out from underneath me.

"Allie!" I hear Evie scream.

This is the end, I think, as I am heading towards the solid icy ground. Just before I hit the ground, I feel strong arms catch me.

"Are you okay?" a guy's voice asks.

(a/n oooooh I wonder who it issssss!!!!!! It's such suspense! 😂
