29. Chaos To My Thoughts
◄ Pacifica Pines ►
It's been a month now, and I guess I'm better. And it's all thanks to Robbie, Gideon, Grendon and mostly Acid. They've been lovely, avoiding me when I was in a fury of anger that blinded me. Acid had three more little hangouts of which we were sitting and watching movies and crying and shoving ice cream and trying not to get sick.
Dipper got the message when Acid told him to back off and that he needed to let me 'calm down' apparently. Which I did the total opposite to Acid. I blew my head off after that, screaming and shouting at Acid. But Acid being the lovely good friend he is, he put up with it, and that brought a smile to my face.
But sometimes he'd be hanging out with different girls every week, in the mall that is.
"Paz, get out of your day dream and go out with me," said Acid in a joking tone. I glanced at him sideways and saw him in a totally different light. His black hair was in a quiff and shaved at the sides, and his eyes were a dark stormy grey and his high cheekbones accentuated his sharp, angled face.
"Okay, when?" I said out of the blue, deciding I should just wing it and let go of Dipper. Although my heart immediately lurched out of my throat when I said it.
"W-what?" Acid croaked, choking on a piece of popcorn. (A/N: Some of you are legit waiting for him to choke and die, aren't ya? WELL LOL NOPE!) He whipped his head around once he swallowed it and looked at me with worried eyes. "Are you okay?"
"I'm great, thank you, now go out with me before I change my mind," I snapped at him.
"Alright then, uh, tomorrow at 9, yeah?" he said, getting up and brushing his pants. He got up, and rubbed the back of his neck. I averted my eyes to the TV, because my mind was screaming Acid, and my heart was crying Dipper. I felt torn apart because Dipper was something completely out of the world, but he caused me heartache and Acid was a great friend.
And that's when I decided I should give Acid a chance.
"Uh - yeah," I nodded and swallowed. I heard him leave and I slumped against the cough, the room dark with the only light was the glaring television that had the movie playing.
~
I slept the whole day and it was 8 now and Acid would pick me up at 9. I quickly scrambled out of bed and took the quickest shower in the history of showers and lunged onto my bed to get my clothes. I dressed in a pair of skinny jeans and a red shirt with a black jacket over it. I tied my hair into a sloppy, messy bun with my bangs appearing at the front.
I check the time and it was 8:50, and I thought I might as well put some effort. I applied some quick mascara and a tiny bit of winged eyeliner and rushed out of my room, grabbing a bag with my phone and wallet in it. I wrote a small note saying I'd be back at home at 11 at the latest and ran out of the house only to see Acid with a lollipop again, leaning against his bike.
He was wearing a leather jacket, which looked beaten up, and a black shirt underneath it with black jeans and black converse. His hair was up in a quiff and his eyes looked steady and dangerous, with his stormy grey eyes flashing as he looked up at me with a slight smirk.
"No cigarette?" I asked, raising an eyebrow as I straightened my pants and shirt. "And what's this?" I asked, nodding at his bike. It was a shiny black with silver lining.
"Eh, I keep my deals," he said shrugging, his lollipop hanging from his lips. "Are you sure, though, Pacifica? I don't want you and Dipper to break up, I really supported you guys. This could be a friendly hangout, y'know? Doesn't have to be a date," he said, looking at me with cautious eyes.
"It's fine, I'll be alright," I said, nodding at him. I guess I wasn't just convincing him but also myself.
"Okay," he said, sighing and patting onto the bike and beckoning me over. I walked over, and swung my leg around the bike as he sat down. He started the engine and handed me a large helmet which I put onto my head, careful of it not to mess my hair.
"Heads up, yeah?" he said, the engine roaring to life and we zoomed through the small town. The forest whizzed pass us, blurs of green and brown like smudged paint in my vision. I felt exhilarated and breathless. My heart beat faster when arms around Acid's waist tightened. Energy flooded through me and adrenalin made me feel light headed.
I tightened my hold on his waist, feeling the hard muscles underneath the dark brown tattered leather jacket he was wearing. He made me feel excited. Really excited.
"So, where'd you get the bike?" I yelled, as we raced down the empty roads.
"Distant cousin lent it over to me, and license, I bet you'll ask! Another distant cousin helped me ace the test on the first try!" he sounded smug when he said this. I closed my eyes tightly and leaned against his back, feeling my traitorous heart beat thunderously and feel happy.
Somehow I felt like I was betraying Dipper. Maybe I was, but I needed a break and Acid made me feel like I was on a roller coaster like break. And I liked it.
~
We had went to the park, talked over there and got some ice cream before Acid took my downtown to an empty place where graffiti tattooed the walls everywhere. It was under a bridge, obviously and it was dark. There were three lamps underneath it, except they were dim and faint. The graffiti was gorgeous, really. The colors were bright and the drawings expressed raw emotion.
Anger of teenagers, probably.
"And - uh - this one I made," said Acid in a nervous tone, rubbing the back of his neck as he gestured to the left wall. I looked, and expected a sloppy swear word written on the wall but I saw a beautiful picture. It was a blonde girl with her hair flowing behind her and she had wide blue eyes that screamed wonder and her grin was contagious and she was absolutely stunning.
And underneath it said 'You Bring Chaos To My Thoughts'.
"That's absolutely great! I thought you had no talents," I said jokingly to Acid who smiled warmly at me.
"It's you," he murmured, looking at me and shoved his hands in his pockets.
"Oh," and that's when realization dawned upon me like a bucket of ice cold water thrown on me.
"What I mean to say - and don't take it the wrong way, okay? - that if it were a different time," he said, pacing across the floor, "A different place, maybe a different world, maybe we'd be together, but..." he stopped and took a step towards me and looked at me with intent.
In this world, you're trying to forget about Dipper, and you're using me, and I'm going to fall for you and it'll hurt. It'll hurt so goddamn much because you're meant for Dipper, in this world. And, just like it says over there, you're chaos to my thoughts. I don't feel like myself, and I'm telling you the truth okay? I'm the number one player, I use a girl like a tissue, okay?
Don't take it offensively okay? And...
And you're poison to my heart whenever you're with Dipper. So I need you to give Dipper another chance! Because even though it feels wrong when you're with him, it also feels wrong when you're with me. Okay?" he said, breathless after his rant. His chest fluttered, his breath ragged and he looked at me with solemn, grey eyes.
"Okay," I nodded, swallowing a lump that formed in my throat. And then my emotional dam broke. Tears flooded my eyes, blurring my vision and I raised my hands up and Acid stepped forward and enveloped me in a hug.
He smelt like men's cologne and a faint trail of cigarette's was in it too. I breathed it in, and hugging him tighter, sobbing.
"I'm such a bad person, I didn't even give Dipper a chance and I came with you and I probably broke Dipper's heart and I didn't even let him explain, oh God, I'm horrible!" I wept on his shoulder. His arms around me tightened.
"Go give your boy a chance, will ya?" he murmured into my hair.
"Yes, sir," I choked out, looking at Acid with thankful eyes.
"Your mascara is running, your hair resembles a badly made nest, your eyes are bloodshot, your cheeks are blotchy, so you look like a hot mess. I think Dipper likes it this way, so go get him, girl!" he said grinning at me. I nodded and wiped my eyes and let out a laugh.
"I'm going to get my boy," I nodded, encouragement flooding through me.
Maybe I still had a chance. I turned around and ran to the opening where the bus stop was. That was when I heard Acid call me out and I looked at him questioningly.
"Don't forget me, okay?" he yelled, cupping his hands over his mouth.
"How could I, after this?" I yelled back, and turned around to run and run and run with a half healed heart.
A/N: When you try to do character development.. and it sucks. Anyways, after this I might do a separate book for Acid, I've got his whole backstory planned out, ayyyyyy! Anyways, do vote and comment and cry and threaten to kill Dipper. And don't say anything to my baby Acid! Dedicated to.. Stuffisrequried88 because she's hilarious! She's like "Grab the pitchforks, we've got a cheater to hunt for!" And I absolutely love it. Anyways, thank you all for supporting this story, because at Chapter 30 - 40 I might end it. I need to finish it before June!!!
Acid: Yeah! I'm a big baby - wait no! I'm a masculine, hot, asian guy who's got grey eyes!
Dipper: And I thought I was full of myself...
