Chapter 61-I WAS THEIR WINGWOMAN AND I INTRODUCED THEM TO EACH OTHER!
We watch Alina walk down the aisle in the most beautiful wedding dress I have seen. She has a bright smile plastered across her face, a bouquet in her hands which are interlocked at the elbows with her dad. I can see the tears in Andrew's eyes as he sees his wife walk down the aisle looking like a goddess. He wipes them away as quickly as he can with his tux. I'd myself never get married at 22/23 but they have been dating too long for anyone to gossip anything about them.
The ceremony was beautiful, they wrote their own vows which explained their relationship in the most simple and beautiful way possible. Emily, Amy, Wesley, Jake and I are sitting at the table eating eating dinner, discussing what's going on in the other's life. Not very surprisingly Ian and Emily are still dating. I will say this time and again, I WAS THEIR WINGWOMAN AND I INTRODUCED THEM TO EACH OTHER!
"Ian and I are eloping in about 2 months! Nobody knows yet, might invite y'all though"
"Working to get selected for a club, any day now, I hope"- Wesley
"I am gonna be honest, I have no clue what I'll be doing with my life. I have realised I am great with children and old people so I am temporarily a nanny for a rich family but I am thinking of doing that as a permanent thing."- Amy
"I am probably living the best life, at least that's what I feel for now, travelling from one city to another DJing my way through life."- Jake, he did always seem to love music and remix them.
Me? I am still studying. After the accident, I shifted my major to psychology. So apparently if you wanna practice in USA, you have to study for way too long, till a doctorate degree at least...6 more years to go. I do feel as if I am so behind everyone in the life thing, will start earning properly with a proper job so much later than everyone.
Andrew and Alina come to us as they work their way talking to everyone in the crowd. They sit down with us on our table and start eating from our plates. Soon as we are talking, the music starts playing, Andrew and Alina get up and move over to the centre of the room, under the huge, glass chandelier which distributes light evenly across the room for their first dance. I watch Wesley take out his phone and I hear Liam's voice from the phone.
"I wanted to be there, fuck this football match", he says loudly through the phone and a few heads turn in our direction. I haven't talked to Liam since we graduated and moved our separate ways 4 years ago. Now too I cannot see his face, just his voice. He couldn't come to the wedding because he had an important football match which he could not miss, though I did want to meet him. Guess I'll have to wait 6 more years to see him. I have been in touch with all of them except Liam though my heart aches almost every time to text him or call him whenever something good happens to me, he was a real friend.
Soon we are all dancing to the music playing, and a few of their relatives have prepared actual choreographies to perform. This is the first Christian wedding I am attending and it is a blast. It is almost exactly like shown in those movies. Indian weddings are much longer, approximately 5 days with a different function each day, but Christian weddings last only a day, so its short and sweet. Both the weddings have their significance in their religion but then common thing is having fun and gathering of friends and families. I met all of them for the first time in person in 4 years only because of this wedding and it was like nothing had changed. We started making fun of each other and discussing things just as before.

10 years after high school
I walk from the scorching heat into the blast of air at the hotel entrance. I know they are my friends and we talk very often but meeting them in person after 6 years is giving me the nerves. We are actually following upon our pact of meeting in Miami for a mini reunion. I have never been to Miami in the 11 years I have been living in the US. We planned to meet in the hotel lobby at 1pm but its only 12:50, I am early. The hotel lobby is illuminated with a soft and welcoming light, as if it were a sunshine in gentle pastel hue. The hotel was the perfect array of homey hues. The grand spaces of the hotel invited the lungs to expand, to absorb the floral aromas and enter the moment.
I sit on one of the sofas thoughtfully set up and start reading the magazines kept in the stands. I cannot focus on the magazine and I keep looking up waiting for at least one of them to arrive, when finally Wesley and Jake arrives.
"We are so sorry"
"We went to a different hotel", Jake says.
"How can you go to a wrong hotel with the exact address AND google maps", I ask dumbfounded.
"Wesley here typed in the wrong name on Google maps. I am never leaving it to him to guide me"
"Obviously he did", I say and hug both of them. They rest of them slowly come in one by one.
"Lunch first please, we are starving!"
