Chapter 19
This chapter contains smut (never thought I would write this tbh). It's after ***** near the end of the chapter. Its lasts till the end. So yeah. Just a warning.
《Selena Arabella Calos》
I throw my hair behind my shoulders and smile in the mirror. For the first time in my life, I don't hate my reflection. I don't hate the extra weight I've gained in the last few weeks, in fact I love it. It makes me look healthier, more radiant- it makes me feel pretty.
I have never been so confident in my appearance before. Distancing myself from my parents was a good idea. I still see them at work and at parties, like the charity gala they are hosting tonight, but I don't interact with them outside of these places and that has helped me immensely.
"Are you ready, cara?" Daniel asks, coming into my room. We look at each other in the mirror and smile. "Hey, gorgeous," he says as he comes to stand right behind me.
"Hi," I breathe. I don't think I'll ever get over just how handsome he is.
He leans down and kisses my neck, making me sigh and rest my head against his shoulder. In the past few weeks, every time we accidently went further than just making out, he pulled away and made a snide remark about marriage. Not only that, but he continuously teased me, made me want more and then didn't give it to me. I know what he's doing. He's trying to convince me to marry him and he thinks teasing me is going to work. What he doesn't know if that I know a thing or two about teasing someone too, and he's going to learn about that before the night ends.
"I have something for you," he murmurs against my neck. I open my eyes as he pulls away from me and takes out a small box from his coat pocket.
I look up at him, suddenly giddy with excitement. "What is it?"
He smiles at my reaction, opens the box and hold out a necklace for me to see. The sliver pendant of his middle name- Nico.
"It's beautiful," I sigh.
"It is nothing compared to you, baby," he whispers against my skin and I almost melt into him. "Do you want to wear it now?"
I nod. "You don't have to get me anything when we're going to events like these."
He presses a quick kiss against my neck. "This gift is for an entirely selfish reason."
I raise my eyebrow. "And what might that be?"
"It will let everyone know that you are mine."
I roll my eyes, smiling. "You're psychotic."
An enigmatic look crosses his face as he says, "Only for you, baby."
-
"Expensive taste," the man sitting next to me at the bar says when I order a glass of Dom Pérignon Rosé.
"I think you mean superior taste," I counter and his lips twitch into a smile.
"Can't argue with that." He turns to me and bows his head slightly. "Nice to meet you..."He trails off and raises his eyebrow.
"Selena Calos," I reply. He reaches for my hand as a reflex I place my hand in his. He brings it up to his lips and kisses it. Despite his gentlemanly behaviour, I feel like walking away from him. There's a cold, dark look in his eyes that screams danger- and not the kind of danger I am drawn to.
"Antonio Alessi."
I give him a smile, which hopefully doesn't look fake.
"It's nice to meet you too, Antonio," I say, out of courtesy than anything, as I move to take out my card to pay for my drink.
"Please let me," Antonio says, giving his card to the bartender before I can take mine out.
"No, please d-"
He waves his hand. "What kind of man would I be if I let a beautiful woman pay for her drink?"
I almost blurt out 'a progressive one' but I stop myself before I can. I can't be the one to talk- not when most men in my life, including the one I love, are much like the man sitting in front of me. Not only that but I have always been taught to not be rude to people and now it's so ingrained in me that if I ever am, I feel terrible.
"Thank you," I reply, taking my drink from the bartender.
"Hopefully your boyfriend won't mind me buying you a drink," Antonio comments and I raise my eyebrow.
"And why would you assume I have a boyfriend?" He points to my necklace. "Oh."
"Don't you think I would have hit on you already if I thought you were single?"
"No," I reply then glance at wedding band on his hand. "As a general rule, I don't think married men would hit on me even if they knew I was single."
"The-" He starts but something behind me catches his eye and he smirks. "As lovely as this has been, I will take my leave now."
I turn around to see what has brought about his sudden attitude change when I see Daniel walk in our direction, looking beyond furious- not at me but at the man standing beside me.
I turn around to ask Antonio if he knows Daniel but he isn't there anymore. Where did he go all of a sudden? He literally disappeared like a ghost.
An arm wraps around my waist and a hard chest presses against my back. "What were you doing talking to him?" Daniel asks me, sounding more annoyed than angry.
"We barely talked at all, I just met him," I reply, intertwining our fingers. "Do you know him?"
Daniel does not answer instead he hold my hand tighter and starts leading me to the door.
-
"Next time you see him, you either run away from him or kill him," Daniel says as we step onto the balcony.
I blink at his words. "Why?"
Daniel doesn't answer, instead he closes his eyes and leans against the railing. He takes out a cigarette, slides it between his lips and lights it.
"You smoke?" I ask him, surprised because I have never seen him do so before.
He blows out a breath of smoke then opens his eyes to look at me. "Sometimes."
He hold out an arm and I step into his hold, resting my head against his shoulder.
"Smoking kills," I mumble.
He lets out an amused sound. "That is what it say on the pack."
"And you don't care?" I ask him, raising an eyebrow.
"We all have to die one day."
I look at the cigarette in his hand as he takes another breath of smoke. "I want to try."
I expect him to immediately say no or to scold me. Instead he just gives me a curious look. "Why?"
"It seems to have relaxed you. I want to know why."
He bites his lips then turns me so that my back is pressed against his front. He tips my head back but keeps his hand around my neck. "Don't inhale too much at once," he tells me and I nod.
He slides the cigarette between my lips, lets me inhale then takes it out. I sigh as I breathe out the smoke, coughing softly. As the chemicals enter my bloodstream, I instantly feel light-headed and calm at the same time.
"Are you okay?" He asks me and I nod, watching as he puts the cigarette between his lips. My cheeks burn when I realise just how intimate us sharing a cigarette was. It felt oddly right like it was a normal thing to do. He raises his eyebrow when he sees my blush. "Anything to share?"
I shake my head. "Nope."
"Hmm." He puts out the cigarette and presses his lips against my forehead. "Let's get out of here."
-
"No," Daniel says firmly.
"Why not?" I whine and he stares at me blankly. "You're no fun."
He rolls his eyes. "When you said you wanted to come to the park, I did not expect this."
I sit down on one of the swings and look up at him. "Come on, lets see who can go higher."
He shakes his head and smiles at me. "You are like a child."
"Swings are for grown ups too."
He mutters something under his breath and I raise my eyebrow. "I haven't been on a swing since I was 9."
"Why? Were you a really mature child?" I ask him and he smiles sadly.
"I was forced to grow up after that," he replies and I frown, cursing at myself for asking him in the first place. Of course he was forced to grow up after everything that happened to him. How could I be so inconsiderate?
"I-"
"Don't you dare apologise," Daniel cuts in then sighs. "How about I push you? I don't think you can swing properly by yourself in heels."
I grin at him and nod enthusiastically.
"The things I do for you," he mutters as he stands behind me and starts pushing me.
"That's because you love me," I reply, giggling.
He laughs. "That I do."
I close my eyes, enjoying the feeling of the cool air brushing my face. "I'm going to jump."
"Don't you fucking dare!" Daniel shouts but by then its too late- I've already pushed myself of the swing. Daniel runs to me when I land on the ground.
"Look, I have perfect balance."
Daniel narrows his eyes at me. "How can you jump of a swing and land perfectly, while wearing heels, but tripping while walking in sneakers?"
"Talent," I reply, taking a bow and he shakes his eyes.
"You really are something else."
I grin at him. "I'm going to take that as a compliment."
Daniel rolls his eyes, about to reply to me but then he tenses and looks behind me. I turn to see Stefan running in our direction.
"Get down, Ace!" Stefan shouts at Daniel.
Before I even have a chance to process his words, I am on the floor, Daniel's body covering mine, just as the sound of gunfire fills the air.
"Motherfucker," Daniel mutters harshly, as he takes out his own gun and turns off the safety. Still covering my body with his, he fires bullet after bullet in the direction where the first gunshot originated from.
I close my eyes and try to drown out the noise, hoping to calm my racing heart. I don't know how long it goes on for but by the time it stops, I'm shivering.
Daniel's hand run over my body, checking for injuries. "Are you okay?" He asks me, even though he knows I'm not injured. I look around us. Leonardo and Gabriele are holding an injured Stefan between them. Daniel follows my gaze and curses.
-
Gabriele took Stefan to the hospital while Daniel told me to sit in the car so he could talk to Leonardo. I have been sitting here since, staring at the ceiling. I have so many questions about what happened but I am too shocked to speak.
"Selena," Daniel says opening the car door and I shiver at the rush of cold air. He stares at me for a second before sliding of his coat and wrapping it around my shoulders. "Are you okay?"
I nod numbly. "Who was that?"
"I don't know," he replies but I can tell he's lying. I want to ask him to tell me the truth but I can't. A few weeks ago I told him I didn't want to know anything about the mafia and this is probably related to that. He kisses my forehead, closes the door, walks around the car and sits in himself.
"Where are we going?" I ask him as he takes of his waistcoat, throwing it in the back seat.
"Cayto."
-
When I pictured a mafia safehouse, it did not look anything like this. It was small, obscured, inconspicuous and bleak. Cayto is the exact opposite of that. It looks like a palace. I find it's beauty surprising because Alessandro has told me about all the terrible things that go on here. It reminds me of something I read in a book about how evil history makes it necessary to build beautiful things, to mask the dark aspects if it. And this place certainly has been a lot of evil.
Daniel opens the passenger side door and hold out a hand for me. I slip my hand in his and get out of the car.
"It's nothing like I expected it to be," I tell him.
He glances from me to the house as he loosens his tie. "Wait till you get inside."
"What's inside?"
He gives me an unreadable look as we walk towards the entrance.
As soon as we step into the house, my first thought is how right he was. The place may look inviting and hospitable from the outside but the inside the house is a completely different story. The interior is as ostentatious as the exterior but something about the atmosphere makes it seem evil and dark- like the place has known death and destruction.
"What took you so long?" A man asks Daniel. I turn my head and watch the man walk towards us.
"I had to talk to Leo," Daniel replies, his tone clipped and annoyed.
The man narrows his dark eyes at Daniel before glancing at me. "You must be Selena," he says and I nod. "It's nice to finally meet you, Selena. I am Leopoldo Marchetti, Ace's grandfather."
Oh. The current Don. The reason Daniel got involved with the Mafia.
"It's nice to meet you too, Mr Marchetti," I say politely and he gives me a small smile.
"Ace, we need-"
"Later," Daniel interrupts, giving his grandfather a look I can't comprehend.
Mr Marchetti look at Daniel with narrowed eyes for a moment but upon seeing the expression on Daniel's face, he nods. "See me in my office as soon as you can," he says as he walks away.
"Your grandfather seems nice," I comment as soon as he is out of earshot.
Daniel snorts at my comment. "You have no idea."
-
"Are you really okay?" Daniel asks me as soon as we enter of one the bedrooms. I nod at him, wrapping my arms around myself, suddenly regretting taking off Daniel's coat. "Talk, Selena."
"I'm fine, just a little shocked, but fine," I reply, but even to me my voice sounds empty, lacking any emotion. Daniel grips my chin and turns my face towards his. He looks confused- as if he can't figure out what I'm feeling. That's a first.
His blue eyes stare into my hazel ones for a while- trying to figure out what's wrong with me, trying to figure out how to help me, but before he can, I rise to my tiptoes and press my lips against his. He responds immediately, wrapping his arm around my waist to pull me closer and deepen the kiss. The kiss is wet and slow and I know he's holding back. I don't want him to. I need him. I need more of him.
I pull away from him. "Don't."
His dark eyes fill with confusion. "Don't what?"
"Don't hold back," I murmur, pressing my lips to his jaw, as I start unbuttoning his shirt.
"Selena," he breathes, his voice deep, restrained, threatening.
I kiss a line down his throat. "Please."
For a second I feel his control waver, but it doesn't last long. He fists my hair and pulls back my head so I look up at him. His eyes are blazing with anger and desire.
Lord help me because I have never seen anything as beautiful as his eyes are right now. I would do almost any obscene things he asks me to right now.
"I am not fucking you until I get what I want," he says roughly.
I almost grit my teeth. It's just like him to want the one thing I am not ready to give to him.
"I know. But I need more than this," I reply and his jaw tightens. "Please... Nico."
I know that I am manipulating him by using that name but that's the only way he'll give me what I want.
The effect is instantaneous though. His body tenses and he lets out a sharp breath. "When you want me to stop, say purple."
As soon as I nod, he spins me around, unzips my dress and wraps a hand around my hair to pull my head back. "This is your last chance to back out, cara," he whispers, pressing his lips to against the side of my neck.
I close my eyes and sigh in contentment. "I don't want to."
****
"Hmm." He unzips my dress and slips its straps off my shoulders, making the dress fall to the ground and pool around my feet. I kick it away and turn around, making Daniel inhale sharply. His eyes darken as they rake over my half-naked body. The only thing I'm wearing is matching lavender panties and bra with silver high heels. The pendant that he gave me earlier is nestled between my breasts, resting against my skin. I flush, suddenly realising that whilst I'm standing in nothing but my underwear, he's almost fully dressed. "Wet fucking dream," Daniel mutters before gripping the my neck and pressing his lips against mine again, this time kissing me slower, rougher and not holding back.
"Did you expect us to end up here tonight?" Daniel rasps, as we pull away to catch our breaths.
"More like wished," I answer between breathes and he stills for a second.
"You should be careful what you wish for, baby," Daniel growls and tosses me on the sofa. He bends down takes my foot in his hand and begins to remove my heels, keeping his eyes locked with mine. "You are going to regret this."
"Why?" I ask, almost breathless because of the intense look in his eye.
He tosses my heels aside and pulls me to the edge on the couch, pressing his lips on the tattoo of his name on my ribs. "Because you will soon beg me to fuck you and I won't."
"Isn't it going to be just as bad for you, then?" I ask, running a hand through his hair when he starts trailing kissing upward.
"Who said I'm going to let you touch me?" He whispers against my skin.
"What's stopping me from touching you?"
"Try it and I'll leave you high and dry."
I pout. "That's not fair."
"Life's not fair, baby. You know what you have to do if you want to touch me." He stops kissing me and looks into my eyes.
I almost give in. I want to give him what he wants. But I can't. Not yet.
"I don't-" He doesn't let me finish. He unclips my bra and drops it to the floor, making me feel even more exposed than before but I don't try to cover myself up. I would never. Not from him.
Daniel smirks at me. "You will be begging me to marry you by the end of this."
"You want to bet on that?" I ask, my competitive self taking over. I instantly regret it when I see the dangerous glint in his eyes.
"You're on, baby." Keeping his eyes on mine, he latches his mouth onto my breast, sucking it slowly before dragging his teeth across the nipple, making me gasp. "You will keep your hands off of me, or else I will keep you on edge for the rest of the night. Is that clear?"
I should have known better than to bet against him.
I feel him smile against my skin before sucking a nipple into his mouth.
"Yes," I breathe and his gaze flickers to me for a moment before switching breasts and licking and sucking it to. I close my eyes, sigh in pleasure and rest my head on the back of the couch. I don't know how long this goes on for, or how many embarrassing sounds I make in the process, but suddenly he pulls away from me making my eyes snap open. We're both breathless.
"I haven't even started with you yet," he rasps before parting my thighs and places gentle kisses on the inside of them. I gasp when he rubs me over my soaking panties. "Do you remember what have to say when you want to stop?"
"Purple."
"Good girl," he says as he pulls down my panties and drops them on the floor with my bra. I try to close my legs but his strong grip on my thighs make it impossible. God, I have never felt so exposed or powerless before. "Keep them open," he commands, his voice low and harsh.
His thumb presses on my clit, rubbing ever so slightly. My eyes close as a moan escapes my lips. My head falls back against the sofa as a wave of pleasure rolls through me.
"So fucking wet for me," Daniel growls, lowering his head between my thighs and swirling his tongue over my clit.
"Oh, God," I moan, running my hand through Daniel's hair. He continues sucking my clit until a "Please" escapes my mouth.
"Please, what?" He asks me and I look at him through hooded eyes. When I don't reply, his tongue pushes into my entrance and I gasp.
"Daniel," I groan and he narrows his eyes at me.
"Please, what, Selena?"
"I need you."
"You know what you have to say then."
We watch each other a tense second.
From the day that we met, I knew he was the one for me. When he first kissed me, he ruined me for anyone else. I always knew we'd end up together- forever. But I also don't want to be married at such a young age.
He sees the indecision in my eyes and lowers his head between my legs again. God-bloody-dammit.
"I'll marry you." The words escape my lips before I can comprehend them. His eyes meet mine again and a look of victory and satisfaction crosses his face.
"Say it again," he demands in his domineering tone of his.
"I'll marry you," I say, despite knowing better.
He smiles and starts to get up making me protest. I'm so close.
He rolls his eyes as he sits next to me on the couch, pulls me into his lap, and presses his lips against mine again.
"You're mine," he says, his voice husky, as he rubs my clit with his thumb. I close my eyes, wrap my arms around him, and press my lips against him again, kissing him slow and soft.
"I need you to relax, baby," he whispers against my lips when we part.
"What-" Before I can finish, he slips a finger in me. Oh my God. I dig my nails into his back and groan at the mixture of pleasure and pain. He rests his forehead against mine as he slides his finger in and out, letting me adjust to his pace before speeding up. "Daniel, plea-"
He eases another finger in me and my words are drowned by a moan. I feel so full and on edge. I'm not far from my release and he knows it because he starts going faster. I beg him for my release over and over again. His fingers curl inside me while another rubs my clit simultaneously, sending me over the edge. I shudder as the waves of pleasure roll through me and rest my head on his shoulder, my breathing labored and my vision dark.
He runs a hand through my hair, kissing the top of my head. "I've got you, cara. I've got you."

A/N
First off, don't smoke kids, it is bad for you. And it only looks/seems hot in books (at least in my experience).
Omg, I forgot what this chapter was about again before I saw the last paragraph. This was my first attempt at writing smut and I blushed all the way through it. I'm sorry if it's terrible.
Yeah so hopefully this chapter was not terrible.
Bye x
