34. I will make things right

Just discovered there are 5 more parts left after this, duh!

Rakshit's POV:

I just stood there till she disappeared behind the building. I had come to her with a hope that everything will be alright, everything will be just fine but the hope was shattered into pieces after she told me It Was Too Late.

She told me she loved me, again. The same gurl who had been trying to make me agree for marrying her, wanted to hear me saying 'I Love You' was now trying to ignore every single confession of mine but what made her change all of a sudden.

She wanted me but I wasn't willing.
And now when I wanted her, she wasn't agreeing. She had been waiting for me all time long and I kept her waiting and now that she's gone I want her back.

"Aw, someone broke your heart friend snatcher?" I could never fail at recognizing that voice. My head turned back to glance at Amay who was coming from behind holding an ice cream in his hand.

"What do you want Amay?" Frustration filling my head was continously trying to push me into doing something both of us would regret later.

"Nothing, just enjoying seeing Karma hit you back" smirking at me he licked his ice cream resting his hand in his pocket.

"What's wrong with you? Your girlfriend was a fraud and you still blame me for what happened? You left us for her, still we didn't complain buy when it went too far with you ditching us like we never existed for you everyone was beyond mad at you. I tried explaining them but you know what, they were right. You're a self centered person who only cares about yourself. She was always looking for revenge on me but your eyes were closed to that fact, then why did you open them to the lies? I cared for you till the end, even after all the fights but you were so busy in plotting against me"

That's my boy speaking!

"I really don't care. You took everyone away from me and just left. If you cared you would've stayed not left the college all of a sudden" He passed me a disgusted look before turning away from me. "And about Drishti, I'm marrying her soon. You can't take her away from me Rakshit. She's mine now" he turned a little with a smirk stretched across his lips.

"She's not your property Amay! She came be with whoever she wants to be with. And that's me, not you" At the end of the sentence I could see his grip on the ice cream cone tighten causing the cone to break into two halves. Returning his smirk I told him "Oh that hurt, she doesn't like you. There's a reason behind it, otherwise she doesn't even look at you"

"You're so wrong" he murmured

"Prove it" I demanded.

Amay turned around in a swift motion with anger written all over his face, in a hostile motion he walked upto me anf grabbed my collar. As soon as an eye contact was made he yelled in a low whisper taking care nobody heard that "Listen to me you bastard, whatever it might be. She would be marrying me and not you. You have lost her which is the ultimate truth. Don't flatter yourself anymore by giving yourself false hopes that she'll come back to you" pushing me slightly he walked off with his nostrils flaring in anger.

I sat by the fountain for sometime, reminiscing the moments we spent together, reliving them in my own mind when my eyes took notice of Romi sir coming in my direction. Watching him come I rose up from the place and stood in attention.

He looked a bit confused and another bit sad as he was walking towards me. "Rakshit?"

"Yes sir" he stood in front of me and put his hand on my shoulder holding a demanding look.

"Do you know what's wrong with Drishti?" He asked and I replied in negative. When I asked him the reason he explained "She came running to me looking all pale and broken and told me she wanted to get married as soon as possible. When I asked when she answered tomorrow, as I was about to ask her why she started yelling at me to do what she told me to or she would break all ties with me. Something's wrong with her, she never acts this way"

This couldn't be happening.

It wasn't supposed to, that too this soon.

She couldn't marry him.

"Rakshit?" Romi sir's voice brought me back from my thoughts and aksed me once again "You spend a lot of time with her, are you aware of anything?"

"Um, no sir. I don't" I stammer and stood silent for some time. "I'm sorry but I need to go"

Without wasting further time, I ran to her room considering it the best to confront her before our loves would take an unwanted turn due to my ignorance. My immediate running away on the topic would've only made him feel something wrong was definitely going on and that I was involved in it. But all I know.

I didn't want to lose.
Not now.
Not ever.

Reaching in front her room I knocked at the door making sure nobody saw me doing so. The door was answered shortly but as soon as she saw the person knocking was me she tried closing it and telling me I needed to leave. "Drishti listen, please"

"No Rakshit. Leave!" She yelled and continued her attempts to close the door while I was pushing it open simultaneously. At last her attempts were over powered by mine as I entered the room locking the door behind us. "What's this Rakshit? I told you that you need to-"

"Listen to me Drishti. Please!" Within a minute I put my arms around her and held her close to me for all my fears pushed me to do so.

The fear of losing her.
Fear of not having anyone to love me like she did.
Fear of the pain her marriage would cause.
Fear of being alone the rest of life as if it's not she, it won't be anyone else either.

"Don't leave me now Drishti. I'm so addicted to you, your attention, your ratters, your attempts to never leave me, your everything. Can't you just stay? Tell your brother the truth" she stood in my embrace like a statue before lifting her face to look at me.

"Even I asked you to, but did you? Did you stay? No, you didn't. Besides I'll be happier with him, with a person who did not take me for granted" she smiled a fake smile with a lump in her throat, trying her best to hold her tears.

"You wouldn't be happy I know that. And I know something's wrong, I'll find it out soon" she turned her face away from me looking at the blank wall. "Look here Drishti" Using my right hand I cupped her face as she looked at me in complete innocence "I did a mistake and I promise that I will make it all right. You won't have to marry Amay, whatever it would take. You never left me and this time, I won't leave you. Trust me, everything will be alright" I kissed her forehead and bid her a final goodbye before leaving her room.

What are you planning to do now?

I'm going to talk to her brother now.

Even if it was not the most appropriate thing to, I lacked the patience everytime I saw them together. It needed to stop and was coming to an end now.

There was once a girl who never gave up on the person she loved but now that it's his turn, he was simply backing off. What will win, his love or her helplessness?
Join this amazing journey of two souls-

I would say shut up guardian!

He tiptoed out of her room watching here and there unaware that two pairs of keen eyes were watching him, Amay and Romi.
