"Hi, Izzie." I looked up to one of the most frequent visitors at the office. I don't why I still entertained her. "You can go in, he is free," I said. "Oh thanks," she said, going away. I rolled my eyes. "Oh thanks," I mimicked.
"Gee, you don't like her do you?" I looked up to find Kevin relaxed. "Now you just saw your boyfriend is busy, why are you here?" I chuckled. It's been a month since everything was normal. Nothing out of the ordinary has happened. "He is not my boyfriend, but I think you would like him to be yours," he smirked while sitting down. Okay, one thing that has happened is Kevin found out about my little liking towards his best friend. More like he blackmailed me to tell him.
"You are not letting that go anytime soon are you?" I asked. "Isabella- What are you doing here?" Nicholas said coming in. "That is none of your business, don't you have a girlfriend to entertain?" Kevin asked. "This is my business, you are in my office, with my PA," he snapped. Kevin smirked looking at me. "Since when are you so possessive Nick?" he asked, not leaving his eye contact with me. I hit him under the table.
"You wanted something?" I asked Nicholas. "Actually yes, could you book a table for dinner in the restaurant?" he asked. "Date?" I asked not wanting to know the answer. He nodded. "Wow, Nick you like this girl don't you?" Kevin asked as I searched for a good restaurant. "What do you mean?" Nicholas asked. "You guys have been dating for three months now?" Kevin asked. "Yes, I like her company. but if I like her emotionally?" he asked.
My eyes snapped to him. What the hell is this blabbering? Kevin on the other hand looked at him like he had grown two heads. "Nick! You have a girlfriend and did you just say it emotionally? Oh my gosh, you need to break up with her," Kevin said pulling him down to sit.
"What?" Nicholas asked. "Dude. Do you ever feel like your skin is on fire when you touch her?" Nicholas stared at him blankly. "Like you could spend your entire day with her and still miss her when she goes away?" "Like if she came and told you she left you, you feel like you would have no one in your life?" Nicholas' eyes snapped to mine. I stared back at him confused.
"Like she is the one that helps you even if she is not trying?" Nicholas looked back at him. "Like her smile is the best thing you have ever seen?" He looked at me again. "Like you like flirting with her," Kevin continued. Okay, this one was definitely on purpose.
"He gets it," I snapped at him. "Geez, I wasn't talking to you," he smirked. "Are you supposed to feel all that?" he asked. "Yes, Nick! Gosh, what is wrong with you? Are you human or a robot?" Kevin asked. "Shut up Kevin," I said. "Okay tell me what do you do on dates? or when you guys are together?" Kevin asked.
"I don't know, we usually go out to lunch and she tells me about her day and we talk and I come back to the office?" he said. Ew. "And what about at home?" Kevin asked. "Umm we usually have dinner and we talk about business?" he said confused. "Ahh," I shuddered and so did Kevin. "Why are you guys giving me that reaction?" Nicholas asked. "What do you do on dates?" he asked Kevin. "You don't wanna know," I warned. Nicholas just ignored me and urged Kevin.
"I take them out, and we watch a movie, make out and it ends in a bed, us and no clothes," Kevin smirked. Nicholas made a disgusted face. "I told you, You didn't wanna know," I laughed. "What about you? You liked someone didn't you?" he asked. I looked at Kevin for help but he just smirked. "Yes, tell us how it felt Bells," he smiled.
"Umm well, I haven't been on many dates in my life, but I don't know whatever Kevin asked for me. I like his touches, I look forward to seeing him every day. I missed him, not a lot though I saw him all the time," I said, going to the past and trying to be discreet. "And I liked how little gestures warmed my heart. How he could make me blush and uncomfortable at the same time. I like how he was hot and he didn't even have to try."
"But if I was dating someone I don't know I would look forward to seeing them every day, hearing their voice. I would like to have those late-night conversations, go out just strolling in the city, an accidental touch of our hands that would make sparks fly. We would probably watch a movie and cuddle at the end of the day to relax."
"Wow." Kevin's voice snapped me out of my trance. "Sorry," I said sheepishly. "That sounded like a romantic movie," Kevin said. "Book, that sounded like a romantic book," Nicholas replied, looking at me. "But I don't feel any of that with her!" he said. "Nick, I thought you were smart. You. Have. To. Break. Up. With. Her." he said, like explaining to a two-year-old.
"But we kissed," he said. Oh, God. "Do you want me to do it for you?" Kevin asked. "I am going to go," he said, getting up and walking out. "Why do you like him?" Kevin asked. "Because my skin is on fire when he touches me because I miss him even after I have been with him the entire day, Because -" " Okay I get it, stop," he said. "Coffee?" I asked to get up only for Rebeca to barge into my room.
"You bitch I knew you had done some black magic on him. He just broke up with me because of you. You are such a slut-" "Okay Ms Gomez I would like to interrupt. First of all, he didn't break up with you because of me. He broke up with you because you weren't good enough for him. You think I am a slut I don't think I am a mirror image of you. Secondly, next time knock before coming into someone else's room, where are your basic manners, runway model? And lastly, they say beauty is on the inside, clearly not in your case. Show yourself out, the guards won't allow you inside next time, Bex," I replied sweetly. She stormed out of the room.
I heard clapping and Kevin stood up. "I should worship you. Please remind me never to piss you off," he said. "Noted. I need a coffee, you?" I asked. "Please, I am waiting in his room," he said as I walked out.
I made three coffees and walked to his room. I heard laughing from the inside and I walked in smiling. "It's nice to hear you laugh for once," I said, putting their cups down. "I am allowed a coffee today?" Nicholas asked, shocked. After the doctor asked them to cut down his coffee. I had slowly stopped giving him coffee. At the start, it was two cups a day and later one and then none, so he wouldn't roam around like a zombie from day one.
"You look happy," he said taking a sip. "Wouldn't you like to know," Kevin smirked. I grabbed my cup rolling my eyes at him, ready to walk out. "Sit down Bells sometimes you could spend time with us," he said. "Like you don't get enough of my attention," I said sitting down. "What can I say he keeps you busy... a lot," he said. I knew what he meant.
"Kevin, remember when you told me to remind you not to piss me off?" I asked, smiling sweetly at him. "Sorry," he said immediately. Nicholas just looked at me confused and I just shrugged. "So what happened to that guy?" Nicholas asked. "What guy?" I asked to take a sip. "The one you liked," he said and I was about to spit out everything. I choked on it, coughing vigorously.
"Umm... it was a long time ago," I said, trying to cover up. He nodded but looked at me suspiciously. "So did you book the tickets?" Kevin asked. "Yes, 23rd December," I said. It was almost November. Violet and Xavier were on their trip to Europe for the past three days and they were going to be for a few more days.
"London?" Nicholas asked his eyes concerned. "Chill, I am going for the holidays. I'll be back," I replied. He nodded. We talked for a little until Kevin had to leave. "See you, folks," he said, getting up and buttoning his suit. It was around 8 o'clock.
"Byes, Bells," he said, hugging me. "Get your man," he whispered, making my eyes widen. He hugged Nicholas. "See you, buddy," he said walking out. I let out a yawn. "You just had coffee!" Nicholas said. "I know but mine was sugary," I smiled sheepishly getting up.
"You are weird," he said. "Gee, thanks," I said, grabbing all the cups. "In a good way!" he said as I started to walk out. "Get back to work, Mr Knight," I said walking out of the door. I went back to my cabin after putting the cups away. I sat on the chair only to yawn again. I placed my head on the table. Five minutes.
I felt like I was engulfed in warmth and I was floating in the air. I opened my eyes slightly to come face to face with Nicholas. More like my head on his shoulder. I wasn't floating, I was being carried. "Nicholas?" I whispered. "It's okay to go back to sleep," he said. I placed my arm around his neck and closed my eyes again going back to sleep with a small smile.
I opened my eyes to find Nick walking into the lobby of the apartment. Now I opened my eyes fully. "Hi," I said, giving him a small smile. "Hi," he chuckled, putting me down. "Thank you," I said, rubbing my eyes. "Do you want to come in?" I asked. "You should go back to sleep," he said. "I am hungry, I am making some food, you haven't had dinner either, get in," I said, opening the door with the keys in my pocket.
He walked in behind me and I closed the door, turning on the lights. "Make yourself at home," I said, opening my hair and putting them up in a ponytail. I grabbed the apron and washed my hands. "Pasta sounds good?" I asked looking up. He was already staring at me. "Yeah," he said, taking off his suit jacket. Okay. Wow. I grabbed all the ingredients and put the pan on heating with water and put a glass of water in front of Nicholas. He thanked me and walked in standing at the counter behind me.
"How can you do everything?" he asked as I took out some seasonings. "What do you mean?" I asked. "You are perfect for your job. You can cook, you manage your home, you manage your bills, you manage to look after your sister, and you look in perfect shape," he said. I chuckled. "Was that a compliment?" I asked putting the pasta in boiling water.
"Yes," he said bluntly. "Well, thank you then. But if someone starts running around in those five-inch heels from one floor to another and one end to another they will also be in perfect shape," I chuckled. "Why do you wear them every day?" he asked. "Because I can," I shrugged. I heard some shuffling as he took out a plate and glasses and sat them on the table. I could get used to this. I cook dinner after we get back from work. He helped around a little.
The pasta was done and started with the sauce. I put my bangs behind my ears and continued working. He sat down and I was about to stir the pasta when the electricity went out. "AH!" I screamed. I hated being in the dark. I had a slight case of Nyctophobia. "Nicholas!" I screamed again. Oh my gosh, where is my phone?
A hand grabbed mine pulling me into a hard chest. "Shhh, I am here, I am here," he said, hugging me. He moved a little and I hugged him tighter. "Ela, I need to switch off the stove," he said. I nodded, my face still buried in his chest. I heard him turn off the stove and his hand was on my back soothing me.
"Does the electricity go out often?" he asked. "Never, actually," I closed my eyes tightly. A few moments passed by and I was still holding on to him for my dear life. I have been scared of the dark since I was a child. I don't know why but it stuck when I grew up. "You want to sit down?" he asked. "No! Don't leave me!" I said panic set in. "Okay Okay," he said, rubbing my back soothingly.
And suddenly there was a small noise and all the lights were back on. I opened my eyes when I felt the brightness on my eyelids. I looked up to come face to face with Nicholas. I let go of him immediately. "Sorry," I said, moving back a little. "It's okay, I can't believe you are scared of the dark," he chuckled. "Shut up," I said, turning the stove back on.
He laughed going back to his seat. I then tried to concentrate on the pasta. Although All I could think about was what happened moments ago. A bush made its way to my cheeks and I continued cooking. When I was done I placed the pan on the dining table and I found Nicholas staring at me. "What are you staring at?" I asked removing the apron and sitting down beside him. "I don't understand how you never have had a boyfriend," he asked.
My eyes widened. "I have never liked someone before," I shrugged. "And now you do?" he asked. "Why do you want to know?" I asked. "I don't know, I am thinking if I should flirt with you or not," he smirked. "Nicholas!" I said serving him the food. "I am kidding," he chuckled. I rolled my eyes at his childish behavior. I waited for him to take the first bite when he smiled. I took mine.
"This is good," he said. "Why, thank you," I said in my British accent. "Wow, your British accent is Wow," he said dumbfounded. I just chuckled. "Merci," I said in French. "Bienvenue," he said. I gave him an impressed look and we went back to eating, talking about the deals and contracts that we were supposed to sign in the upcoming week.
Once we were done I put everything in the sink. He looked at the watch and sighed. "You are late aren't you?" I said, grabbing his coat. "Yes, I have to leave," he said. As much as I wanted him to stay I knew he couldn't. I handed him his coat. "I am glad you could stay for dinner," I said as he stood up. "Thank you," he said. I smiled as I walked him to the door. I stood there leaning on the frame.
"Drive safe."
"I will, Good night."
"Night."
He turned around and walked to the elevator. I let out a sigh as the elevator closed. I walked back and cleaned up everything and changed into some comfortable clothes. I got in bed drifting off to sleep immediately.
I was woken up when my phone started ringing. I jolted up looking at the caller Id. Mr Knight? I need to change his name. I answered. It was 1 am. "Hello?" I said groggily. "I am so sorry for waking you up," he said. "What is the matter?" I asked yawning. "Umm... I wanted some fine details," he said. "Nicholas? You can't sleep can you?" I asked. "No, Rebecca used to talk to me on the phone and it used to be so much talking that I used to get bored and I used to sleep," he explained. I chuckled. "I am not going to talk." "I know, You know what sorry just go back to sleep" "Nicholas" "Go to sleep Isabella." "Just hold on," I said, grabbing my IPad and playing some soothing music as I put his phone on speaker.
"Thank you," he said and I heard some shuffling. I put a timer on the music and drifted off to sleep.
