Final Chapter: The Proposal

Isaias

Three months later...

I stared at the ring I personally ordered. A design she wanted, an Antique inspired Marquis diamond ring. Enna said, it was almost the same design as Catherine Zeta Jones' engagement ring. I have no idea who she is, but the ring was indeed beautiful, and it has to be. It cost me almost three million for this ten carat diamond stone.

I put the ring back in the black huge square box with gold lining on the edges and a gold ribbon on the center.

It probably cost me a few gran for the box only.

I shook my head and quickly handed the box to Logan. It's impossible to hide it in my coat's inside pocket.

We are heading now to the house I had just bought.

A week after Lucca's death, we buried him next to the body of my grandfather and Celestina's parents.

Batiste had admitted that Lucca was behind the death of Celestina's parents, and my grandfather knew about it. And a few years later, my grandfather found out that Lucca deceived him by playing the role of Luigi, and so Lucca orchestrated his death and hid their bodies in one of the the wine storage rooms.

Three months had passed, all the D'Antonio fortunes had been transfered to my name, even Luigi's inheritance, he had passed it on to me. He just wanted to enjoy his remaining years with my mother, that's all he wished, but I wasn't ready yet to take over any of the D'Antonio's companies. I'm not ready to leave the company Vito and I had established. Luigi agreed to run it for five years, then it's time for me to take over, and I acquiescently agreed.

Now we are back in New York.

Angel is at the flower shop, and Enna was helping her out, more like accompanying her so I can see the development of the house I had bought a month ago. I had it renovated. Made a lot of changes; the masterbedroom was doubled in size, they added three guestrooms too, a sunroom, and a lap pool.

It's almost done, and I can't wait to show it to her.

When we came to see the house, pretending it was Vito's, she got so excited. I almost wanted to tell her it was for her but I reigned myself. I would have ruined the proposal plan.

"Engineer Muhammed is waiting for you, Boss," Logan said as soon as we are inside the car.

"Then lets go." My voice was flat and full of sarcasm. He knew we are heading to the place, he had to remind me.

Logan started the car ignoring my arising temper and soon we are heading out of the city where I found a nice four bedroom house with a huge backyard. The backyard caught my interest.

I pulled my phone out and dialed Vito.

The phone kept on ringing and I was about to give up when I heard Vito's growl.

"What?!"

"Did I catch you at a bad time?" I asked after forgetting I was about to say.

"Fuck you, Sai! I'm so close to kill you!" he frustratedly grumbled. I could feel his roiling anger radiating off the line. I heard a moan of disapproval in the background.

I smirked.

"You mean you're so close when I interrupted you?" I said flatly.

"What do you want? Don't tell me today is the proposal?" his curt tone suddenly morphs into excitement.

"No. I'm heading now to our new house just to check if everything is ready. I got a call from the Townsley, they want to show me something. It's 90 percent done," I explained.

"Alright. If not today, then why did you call? I knew nothing about constructions, but I can give you lots of ideas about cunt-intrusion," he burst into chuckles at the last words.

My eyeballs involuntarily rolled heavenward. A new habit I copied from my Angel when she's annoyed.

"I know you are very trained on that area," I grumbled sarcastically and he just laughed it off.

Then I remember why I called him. "I'll call the cleaning agency again when everything is done, then help me find some few furnitures, like table and chairs to start. Just the basic stuffs, then I'll let Angel pick the rest," I said and unconsciously let out a sigh. I just hope she won't fill the house with pink and purple.

"Sure. Just next time, text me first!"

"Sure! Remind me too to change my phone plan since I don't need the unlimited call!" I hissed.

He just chuckled at my response before ending the call.

The car jolted into a stop then Logan uttering strings of curses.

"What the fuck!"

My eyes darted to the road ahead and grumbled foul words incoherently as I watched the old lady with her cane walking so snail slow while tugging a child's hand about five to six years old.

Logan furiously hit the horn and the old lady stopped momentarily and stared him down, then she continued walking as a snail's pace. As soon as she passed the car, she turned her head then gave Logan her middle finger which caused me to burst into a fit of laughter.

"Are you in a hurry, Logan?" I asked.

He met my eyes through the rear view mirror before shifting it back to the road as he responded. "My sister needs help, Boss. She's moving out of her apartment to her new home," Logan reluctantly answered.

I nodded my head.

"After dropping me off, you can go. Just send anyone available to come pick me up after an hour," I said.

"Thank you, Boss!" came his reply.

We arrived at the house and I got all excited as I stared at the facade of the building. It was newly painted, and it's looks like it was newly built.

I quickly hopped out of the car and without waiting for Logan, I strode towards the front door.

.....

Angel

"Caleb, we have two deliveries today!" I heard Cynthia called out one of Isaias' men. A few of them were here today to help out. Two were sent off to do deliveries, Caleb and Santi.

Enna stood next to me behind the counter. "Why the long face?" she said as she nudged me with her elbow. I'm so happy that she came to accompany me everytime Isaias leave. It's really frustrating that now everything seems have gone back to normal, there were no people chasing us which I'm hoping so, and here he is, busy, more than ever.

"What do you think is Isaias doing?" I asked unconsciously as I turned to look at her.

Enna's right eyebrow high up in the air as she stared at me intently. Her lips broke into a teasing smile.

"Forget it!" I hissed as I turned my attention to the cash register and obliviously staring at the machine.

"Are you jealous?" she teased causing me to shook my head and ignored her teasing voice.

"You know, among the three, Sai is the safest. Though he's the coldest, well... except to you," she stressed which caused me to look back at her and sigh.

Enna was grinning from ear to ear." Trust me when I say he won't ever cheat on you," she reassured and all that worries roiling within me like a coil for the past months slowly dissolved.

"Even if he was busy before, he still has time for me..." I sighed and propped my elbows on the counter as I leaned in, palms cupping my cheeks as I stared obliviously at the two other staffs busy attending customers.

I felt Enna's arm around my shoulder. I peeked at her and she was staring at me with a satisfied smile. "I'm so happy that Sai pick you. I could tell how much he adores you. He actually had change a lot since you came into his life... you know?" Enna gave me a half smile. Drifting her gaze away, she stared blankly at the flowers inside the room and spoke softly. "If you're worried why is he busy, you'll know soon, but not now. Just trust him," dragging her gaze back to me, she smiled reassuredly "soon, you'll know why he's busy."

"Why can't you tell me?" I asked, frowning deeply at her. She looked like she knows something.

Enna chuckled, patting my shoulder softly, she dropped her hand on the counter and shook her head.

"I wish I know, Angel," she smiled.

I let out a sighed. I nodded my head.

He promised to take me somewhere later this afternoon. Its' been five days after that driving lesson he gave me, and he was so frustrated when I bumped into a post, causing his brand new MacClaren to visit the body shop.

Maybe one of the boys here can give me a lesson after work.

Since I started learning driving, all my pent-up frustrations vanishes whenever I'm behind the wheel. It's like my healing pill.

"Why are you smiling?" I heard Enna asked.

My head whipped to her and instantly shook my head. "Nothing," I said and she eyed me inquisitively.

"Are you up on something? Tell me?" she suddenly become interested, turning to face me straight.

I stood upright "Nothing, Enna," I said as I shook my head, then turned on my heel to find Cynthia.

"Don't do something stupid, Angel," Enna reprimanded.

"Of course!" I yelled back without turning my head to look back at her.

The flower shop seemed to slow down now that it's almost lunch time. Cynthia managed the flower shop while we were gone. And because of that, Isaias and I decided to give her a share, and together, we ran the shop. Actually, we are thinking to branch out since in the last months, we had gained lots of customers, and we had several customers from outside the city as well.

My phone rang and saw it was my Zio Dante. I smiled as I took his call.

.

.

Two days passed, I was in my bedroom, at Zia Estella's house, waiting for Isaias call. He promised me to take me to Vito's house. I was so excited because I love that house, and I picked it. Vito didn't mind and thought it was nice, he bought it without thinking twice.

I smiled.

Actually, the money Stefan Viggorino left me is now in my account, but it was not enough to cover the worth of the house and repares.

I'm saving for it. Once I had the money, I'll convince Vito to sell it to me.

My eyes darted to the clock. It's already five in the afternoon.

Arghh...

Where is he?

I dialled Logan.

He answered it after a few rings. "Logan," he said briefly.

"Hello, Logan! It's me, Angel," I answered as I walked towards the window and peeked through. A black car just pulled into our driveway.

"Yes, Ms. Torrini?" Logan asked in his stoic tone.

I rolled my eyes. He became very aloof after Isaias warned him to keep his hands to himself.

"Where is your boss?" I asked tartly.

"I apologize, Ms. Torrini," he responded stiffly. That last name he called me made me smile. Two months ago, Zio Danter helped me changed my name. "Boss is busy right now. Actually, he asked me to come and pick you up," he explained causing my brows to press tightly.

"Is that so?" I hissed, backing up from the window and pace towards my door.

"Yes. He said, he'll make it up to you tonight," Logan added.

My teeth gnashed in exasperation. "That rascal!" I grumbled as I trudge down the stairsteps. My eyes swept the hallway, but Zia Estella wasn't anywhere.

"And where is he?" I asked.

"At Vito's house," Logan replied shortly.

"Fine!" I gritted out, then ended the call.

I locked the door behind me and saw Logan standing stiffly next to the passenger side door.

I glowered at him. I'm so pissed off right now, and to hell with Isaias.

"I'll drive," I commanded sharply, and Logan gave me a disapproval look.

My hand shoot out, palm facing up as I waited for him to hand me the key. Logan shook his head. "I apologize, Ms. Torrini, but boss said to take you to him safely," Logan explained in a polite but stiff manner. I can tell, he was trying to control his temper the way I acted to him, but I don't care. I'm so mad right now, and driving would surely cure my exasperation.

"Don't worry. I can take us there safely," I said in a haughty tone which caused Logan to raise his eyebrow. Well, he didn't know how good Am I now since he wasn't there when I took the lessons. Besides, I'm comfortable now. After that accident — which wasn't my fault. If not of Isaias suddenly barking at me like a mad dog, I wouldn't have hit that pole — I'm very careful now.

"But, Ms. Torri—"

"Just give me that fucking key, Logan or I'll swear to God... " — Hands flew into the air as I huffed — "Fuck you and your boss!" I almost screamed at him and he stared at me a little wide-eyed.

He suddenly looked a little apprehensive after throwing a little temper.

I turned on my heel and about to stormed off when I heard him spoke. "I apologize, Ms. Torrini. Of course, you can drive," Logan sounded hesitant but there was a hint of determination in his tone.

I smiled as I stopped mid-stride, then masked a straight face as I turned slowly and walked back to the car. Logan was already holding the driver's side door open for me.

With a straight face, I took the key from him, then slid into the driver's seat and adjusted the seat, the stearing wheel and the mirrors.

As soon as I buckled my seatbelt and Logan settled on the passenger side, I started the engine.

Logan was giving instructions where to turn which was very helpful. He was very quiet as I drove away to Vito's house.

I heard a honk behind me and I instincetively looked through the rearview mirror and grumbled under my breath.

"If you're in a hurry, then drive to the other lane!" I huffed.

"You're driving too slow, Ms. Torrini," Logan said when he couldn't keep his mouth shut.

I gave him a half-hearted smile. "You're not in a hurry. Are you, Logan?" I asked as I kept my eyes on the road ahead. It wasn't busy which was comforting. My hands was gripping the steering wheel, a little too scared to let go. To be honest, now that I'm on the road, driving the other pro drivers, my nerves skyrocketed, but I won't let Logan know about it.

"No, not at all, Ms. Torrini." Logan wasn't letting go of the handle bar above his head. I just smirked and concentrated driving.

.....

Isaias

"How do I look?" I asked Vito anxiously as I tried to fix the tie he brought it to me. I'm not used to neckties.

Vito chuckled as he swatted my hands away and helped me fix the tie. "You look nice, I'm sure she'll drool when she sees you," Vito grinned maliciously and I scowled at him.

"It's all ready," Leone grumbled as he walked into the room that smelled of flowers, petals around the table that was set for two. He was still holding the basket that were filled with flower petals half hour ago.

A few of my securities were holding baskets too, and they all wearing the same look that mirrored Leone's.

"Thank you," I gave Leone a grateful smile and he smiled back, tossing the basket to one of my security, then gave me a brief hug.

"Congratulations! Finally, you're no longer a bitter bitch!" Leone declared with a soft pat on the shoulder, causing Vito to burst into a fit of laughter.

"Wait for your turn," I glared at Vito and he shook his head furiously.

"Then, keep waiting," he said between dying laughter.

I just shook my head as I joined them chuckling, trying to fight the growing anxiety roiling within me.

My eyes darted to my wrist watch and it's almost seven. The drive to here is only an hour, and with Logan's driving expertise, it would only take him 40 minutes.

Fuck!

What took them so long?

I dialled Logan's number.

It didn't ring, just a dial tone. I tried it again, but I get the same dial tone over and over.

"He should be here anytime soon. We better leave," Vito said and Leone agreed, followed by my securities. Before they left the room, I heard a very loud smashing sound, more like a collision.

"What the fuck is that?" Leone said as they all walked out the hall, following where the crash came from. I followed them too hoping it wasn't my property, but hearing it was so close, I knew it's probably my garage.

And my eyes almost popped out when I saw the black Mercedes Benz rammed into my garage door. My gaze hardened as I stalked towards the car, hands balled into a tight fist, itching to ram Logan's face with my fist.

I was so close when the door opened and Angel came out, looking distraught and disoriented.

"FUCK!" I hissed as I approached her quickly and catch her before she falls on the ground.

She was trembling. "I'm sorry," she mumbled before she passed out.

"Angel!" I called out her name, panicking. My heart was already on overdrive.

"Call an ambulance," distant voices passing through my hearing line. My whole attention was glued to her unconscious state, her limp body. I carried him inside the house then lay her on the couch in the living room.

"Angel," I cooed as I felt her pulses. It was beating fast which relieved me.

"Wake up, baby. I have a surprise for you," I uttered softly as I ran the back of my hand along her cheek, but there was no response. "I'm not mad, please just wake up. I don't care if you will destroy the whole house, just wake up, mio angelo pericoloso," I whispered against her cheeks.

Her lashes fluttered and I sat upright and waited for her to open her eyes.

"Really?" she said as soon as her eyes open.

If I didn't witness the damaged that had been done, I would have thought she was faking it.

All I could do was nod my head. I need this proposal plan to get done tonight so even if I wanted to go outside and look out for Logan and shoot him to death, I restrained myself.

"The ambulance is here. Should they need to see—" Leone stopped mid-stride when he saw us, then he smiled. "I guess, Angel doesn't need them," Leone said before leaving us alone.

"I'm sorry, Logan doesn't want me to drive, but I threatened him," she apologized as she got up from the couch.

"Should you need to get check?" I asked, still worried about her.

"I'm fine," hands cutting through the air.

Her eyes swept the room, and her eyes gleaming with awe. The anger bubbling up in my system suddenly vanished and an ouce of pleasures, a different kind of pleasure filled me. I felt so proud of myself seeing the look of longing in her eyes, the need to have the house.

"Did you like the house? I can give you a tour after our dinner," I said and she looked up at me with a huge question marring her face.

"Shouldn't be Vito who's giving me a tour?" she asked.

I chuckled. "This is for you, I bought it for you," I said, sighing as it wasn't how I wanted to surprise her. "This is not how I suppose to surprise you, but you surprised me tonight," I said, sighing.

"R-Really?" This... this is for us?" she blurted out as she got up from the couch and looked around the room, then she hugged me. "This is really a surprise, Sai. I love it," she said in a broken voice. I hugged her back and held her firmly. I missed her so much.

"Is this the reason why you were always busy?" she asked after, pulling away.

"Yes," I answered briefly.

"Can I embrace you for a moment?" I asked, missing her already as she stepped back and happily walked around the room.

She turned to face me with that huge grin on her face that I missed. "I missed you. Of course!" she ran back to me and I held her like she's going to fade from my arms. I filled my lungs with her scent, filling her soft body against mine. My heart swelled with happiness, over joy. Finally, the rain is over.

"Can we have dinner now?" she asked after a while.

That's when I remember the proposal. "Sure. I should cover your eyes," I said. I know it's too late, but atleast the table we had prepared will be a surprise.

She gave me a questioning look, but she lifted her shoulders in a half shrug after. "Alright," she said.

I took the white handkerchief out of my pocket and folded it before covering her eyes. Then I carefully led her to the hall where the table was set.

"The room smells really good," she commented as she allowed me to lead her.

I smiled.

"Do you like the smell?" I asked as we get closer to the table.

"Yes. It's bursting of fresh flower scent here," she replied.

"Okay, stop..." I said then took the cover off her eyes. She slowly opened her eyes, squinting a few times before her eyes landed on the table and then her hand instantly covered her mouth to stifle her squeal.

She turned to look at me with glistening eyes. The room was dimly lit, so it looks so cozy and romantic, according to Vito. "Oh, it's so romantic!" she exclaimed.

"Shall we eat now?" I asked.

She nodded her head then I pulled the chair and she sat. Clapping my hands, the two man came out with the food. It was also Vito's idea.

They were wearing black and white uniform with a vest.

Angel was beaming at me. "This is so nice," she cheerfully said as we waited for the waiter to serve our food.

Angel was enjoying her food but I couldn't concentrate eating. I don't know how to start the conversation, how to break the silence, to propose.

I should have agreed when Vito told me to put the ring in her food, but knowing her, she would gobbled it and would not even realized she swallowed a ring.

"Angel," I started, and she looked up, eyes intently staring at me.

"I-" I swallowed hard, meeting her gaze as I tried to summon all the courage left in me. "I-I... I know it's too soon, but I felt like it's the right time," I begun. She dropped her fork and knife then grabbed her water and drank a bit. Her eyes never left me. "I couldn't live a day without you by my side..." I swallowed again. "I want to see you when I wake up in the morning and when I go to sleep, I want to share the same room with you every single of the day..." I paused as I met her gaze. My heart was beating loudly against my ears. "Would you grant me that wish by marrying me?" I choked out. My hand under the table, gripping the box where the ring was had now broken into cold sweats while I waited for her response.

Vito taped the box under the table.

"Oh my God! You are proposing to me?" she leaped out of her seat and rounded the table, then hugged me. "Yes! Yes! Yes!" she squealed.

A lone tear escaped my eyes. A tear of happiness.
