1. Wolf Girl

•New Orleans•

EDITED somewhat

•• While Niklaus Mikaelson was supposedly 'dead' •• 2009

She could just barely breathe due to the feeling of water clogging up her lungs and pouring out her mouth. She coughed an spluttered eventually falling into Elijah's arms.

"Aphrena! What's happening!?" She grabbed at her throat trying to breathe but she couldn't. Elijah bit his wrist shoving it into her mouth but it didn't help. The water kept flowing and she kept squirming.

"E-Elijah." She choked out as tears stung her eyes. Black spots crossed her vision and she looked down at her stomach clutching it tightly. Then the water finally got too much and everything went dark.

Elijah got his phone to talk to his sister, meanwhile, Elena drowned in the river killing both her and her cousin. No one knew she was linked to Alaric as well but now that the two doppelgängers are dead they sure do now.

"Aphrena..." Elijah begged after he got done talking to his sister. "Please come back to me." He lifted her head and laid it on his lap stroking her hair. "I can't lose another." He hugged her limp body and moved her to his bed. He laid her cold body under the sheets and left the room pacing around not knowing what to do.

Aphrena woke up with a gasp looking around and her throat stung with water and the need to feed.

The loss of nature hit her as well as the loss of being able to turn into a wolf. It was like her wolf side was being suppressed. The Witches. She was still carrying her dead baby so if she did turn it would kill the child indefinitely so they're suppressing that side of her.

She choked up whatever water was left and sat up. Tears stung her eyes when she thought of her baby and she had too many thoughts going on in her head to let tears fall.

Hearing the noise Elijah appeared in the doorway causing her to gasp and jump. "You're alive." He moved towards her slowly with a slight smile.

"What-what happened to me, Elijah?" She asked as more tears filled her eyes. She had a clue but she hoped she was wrong. "Elena died, you were linked to her and Alaric, thus killing you. Meaning you are in transition."

"Oh, my god. No, no, no. I can't." She choked out holding in sobs. Elijah sat next to her and held her close to him. He calmed her down easily just by touching her. "What am I going to do?" She asked quietly.

Elijah took in a deep breathe thinking about it. If he wants her safe from his family and this town there is only one way. "I can take it away. I can get you somewhere safe." He told her looking down at her as she looked straight ahead.

"Are you going to come with me?" She asked in a small voice. Elijah felt his heart break a little and he slowly shook his head.

"It's safer if I don't." She shot her eyes up to him tears blurring in them.

"I love you, Elijah, please don't do this to me. To us." She begged, the tears finally falling out her eyes causing blurry vision.

"I have to Aphrena. It isn't safe for you anymore and I know I will see you again. I love you and always will." Aphrena looked into his eyes, the loving now tear-filled chocolate brown eyes she had adored for a long time.

"Elijah, p-please don't leave me." She begged. He cupped her face and kissed her nose then started despite her protests.

"You will go and be with your kind," He said as he looked straight into her teary doe brown eyes. "You will forget me and my family. Move on with your new life. You never loved Elijah you never knew him or his family." She shook her head at his words but he kept his grip on her face.

"No please don't." She whispered.

"When I leave this room you will never remember us. I'm sorry love I'll see you again Always and Forever." He snapped her neck sending her into darkness. He never knew she was pregnant with his child all he knew was that she would wake again never remembering him and that he would find her again. But the compulsion also took the mate bond away so next time they see each other it would start from the beginning.

She has been with Marcel - as a friend - for 2 years. Made update... 09-2011

The moment she came to after her neck being snapped all she could do was cry. She knew she was in transition and that she had lost her baby. She didn't know who the father was or why she didn't remember, she was just left to fend for herself.

She had decided to move not wanting to live in that suffocating town. Now, here she was, part witch, vampire, and werewolf. She knew she had it, but her witch side had limited abilities and her wolf was suppressed.

She still don't know who turned her, she just got flashes and they were all blurry never a clear face. All she had left was the power to cast very few spells mainly protection.

She was told the doppelgänger blood in her helped her survive the transition. Which she was very happy about because she didn't plan on dying soon.

Aphrena currently lives with Marcel in the compound in New Orleans, although he isn't nice to many people or the witches he is nice to her and lets her go places as long as she stays out of the way. He's also the only one who knows she has some wolf but she didn't tell him about the witch parts, not trusting him enough. No one could tell she was a wolf since she could mask her scent.

Over the years she has learned to love this city. Unfortunately, the witches aren't doing so good with Marcel's rules, and Marcel has a girl Davina locked away for safekeeping, she's the only other person besides Marcel to be allowed near Davina. Davina is also his way to tell who is doing magic.

Jane-Anne one of the witches, was killed caught doing magic just recently, which is where we are headed. Aphrena heavily disagreed to the killings but could do nothing of it. What Marcel said was always done. She was walking with Marcel and started to feel terrible for them because he was taunting them. They ran to the witches huddling over Jane-Anne.

"Well, well. What do we have here? You know this street corner has proven to not be the luckiest spot for your family tonight." Aphrena stood behind Marcel and heard the vamps hiss towards the witches. "Half an hour ago we had to teach your little sister a lesson." Aphrena looked up to see the tears in Sophie's eyes.

"We are putting her to rest Marcel, leave us alone," Sophie said.

"I never said you could move the body. Matter of fact, I left her here for a reason, send a message. If anybody is thinking of joining some kind of rebellion, my rules state that witches cant practice magic in the quarter, and yet a little birdie informed me that Jane-Anne was cooking up something magically delicious." Aphrena could feel someone staring at her so she looked up and saw no one, so she looked back down but that feeling came back. "While I have you, quick Q&A. My old friend the hybrid Klaus, he just happened to show up out of the blue asking for, of all people, Jane-Anne. Any idea why?" Klaus, Aphrena has heard that name in Marcel's stories. She felt like that name is more familiar to her somehow.

"I don't know. Witches don't get involved in vampire business." Bullshit, they aren't very good at being low profile and I have my suspicions but I can't tell Marcel. He'd kill them all and most don't deserve it.

"Mm. That would be pretty stupid, that's for sure," he says walking around her revealing me. Elijah who was watching from above stared down at her with love in his eyes. He missed her so much and she looked even more beautiful then the last time he saw her. And even though he missed her, he was glad she left. She would have been in trouble if she stayed. Never did he think he'd find his mate her in New Orleans though.

"Tell you what. Go back to the restaurant. Cook up some of that famous gumbo and keep those tourists happy," he says to her before looking at Aphrena. "Take the body." Sophie turns around rapidly.

"What?" The doppleganger walks in to pick Jane-Anne's body up. She knew that if she didn't these guys won't be as gentle. Sophie tries to fight them off and get Aphrena to not do it.

"I'm gonna hold on to your sister's body in case maybe you remember why Klaus is here."

"Marcel, please. Her body won't be at peace." She begs. Aphrena then moves to pick up the body delicately.

As the hybrid walks past her she whispers, "I'm sorry, I'll take care of her body." Aphrena wanted to put her mind at ease for her to know she won't let it get worse.

"Not my problem," Marcel says. They walk all the way back to the compound to lay her body.

"Hey, Marcel I have to go do something I'll be back later." He nodded.

"Alright." She ran to him.

"Thanks, Marcel." She smiled at him and he returned it. She gave him a short hug before vamping off.

Aphrena vamp spesds away to find Sophie wanting to know why 'Klaus' is here. She went to the witches burial ground. Luckily she has the ability to walk in. Then, she heard Sophie talking to someone in a tux.

"-Marcel has an army backing him. The witches have been trying to fight back." Terrible job at it. "We haven't had much luck." No shit. "Until my sister met a girl, a werewolf passing through the quarter from a small town in Virginia." Aphrena's ears perked up at this. "She had a special connection to your brother."

"What kind of connection?" The guy asked.

"Apparently, they spent some time together. One thing led to another, and now this special werewolf girl she's pregnant, and the father of the child she's carrying is your brother Klaus." Aphrena gasped making herself known. Shit! I'm so stupid. She walked to their view. "Aphrena what are you doing here?" Sophie asked with a little worry in her voice.

"Don't worry, I won't speak a word of this, I was just curious. Please do continue, I'm intrigued." Aphrena was once an acquaintance of Sophie's but then she was taken in by Marcel and didn't bother with the witches. Sophie trust her the tiniest bit at least, even though, Sophie is kind of annoying. Elijah went from staring at his mate then back to Sophie.

"That's impossible," he said continuing what they were saying.

"Nothing is impossible," Aphrena said, she had enough experience to know this was very well possible.

"Especially not when it comes to your brother. Think about it. They call him the hybrid, right? Bring her out," she says the last part looking back. Elijah and Aphrena look over her shoulder. A girl was being walked out by three people. That's Hayley, Aphrena remembered her from good ol' Mystic Falls.

"Who the hell are you?" She asks she knows Aphrena but can't tell it's her from where she's standing. They were friends too until Klaus chased her off at least that's what she said. Aphrena wanted to run to her and hug her. They walked closer to her. She could see aphrena's face better now her eyes light up at the sight of her old friend.

"Aphrena?" She asks in a low whisper only vamps could hear.

"Give us a moment, please," Aphrena said more then asked. They let us in a mausoleum and the doppleganger hugged her.

"I'm so sorry Hayley," she whispered to her and she hugged back.

"It's so good to see a familiar face, I missed you." Aphrena pulled out of their embrace, she was quite beautiful Aphrena always admired her beauty and she knows it.

The man then speaks up and asks her, "So you have been held here against your own free will?"

She replied, "They lured me out to the bayou and grabbed me then they did all these weird, witchy tests, no offense Aphrena. Not that I understand how this could happen. I mean, vampires are dead. They can't have children." Well, you see you can't unless you're a hybrid.

"Perhaps if you knew my brother's story, it might explain how this is possible. Here. if I may..." He walks closer to her as Aphrena watches over her. "What are you doing?" She asks as she recoils while Aphrena move closer to her just in case.

"Relax," He says sitting down, "If you open your mind to me, I can show you." He puts his hand on her head.

"In the beginning our family was human. 1,000 years ago now. Although our mother dabbled in the dark arts," I have heard this story before. But where? "We were largely just a family trying to survive at a time when it was quite difficult to do so...and, for better or worse, we were happy." He lets go of her head and she has her eyes still closed for a while as he speaks. "That is, however, until one night. Our youngest brother was killed by our village's greatest threat. Men who can transform themselves into wolves during a full moon. Our family was devastated, none more than Nikalus. Desperate to protect the rest of us, our father forced our mother to call upon her black magic in order to make us stronger. Thus, the first vampires were born, but with this speed, this strength, this immortality came a terrible hunger. No one felt this hunger more than Niklaus. When he killed for the first time, he knew what he truly was. He wasn't just a vampire." Hayley opened her eyes finally. while Aphrena brought back her tears for this man he must have been lonely. She shudder slightly, that's exactly what she was. Lonely.

"He was also a werewolf." Hayley finished for him. "That's how our werewolf curse works. It isn't activated until you take a life," She says.

"Niklaus was the result of an indiscretion our mother had hidden from us all, an affair with a werewolf like yourself. Infuriated by this betrayal, my father forced our mother to cast a spell that would suppress Klaus' werewolf side, denying him any connection with his true self." Aphrena scoffed, it must have sucked because she knows she hates it and she doesn't even know how to get her wolf back.

"What a wonderful family don't ya think," Aphrena said.

"Your father was a dick," Hayley said.

"That too," The vampire doppleganger added. He slightly smirked.

"I'm Hayley, by the way." She held out her hand for him to shake.

"And I'm Aphrena," she said while holding out her hand as well. Aphrena smiled softly at them. When ELijah took her hand she felt slight sparks and instantly pulled her hand back. She quickly turned to Hayley. "And you my dear, need help and I'm willing to stay with you until you don't need me." Aphrena told her with softened doe brown eyes.

"Alright then." She turned back to Elijah. "And you should probably know our names if you're going to tell us your whole life story. I mean, I know yours. Your family is legendary. Your brother is a notorious psycho, who I slept with, classic me." Aphrena shook her head. She does do some dumb things, got to admit.

"I cannot excuse his behavior, but you must understand that our father hunted him," he says getting up. "Hunted us for centuries. Every time we found a moment of happiness," He looks at Aphrena while saying that, "We were forced to flee, even here in New Orleans, where we were happiest of all." He then looks away. "Not long after Niklaus broke the spell which prevented him from becoming a hybrid, he defeated our father. I thought this would make him happy." He shook his head. "He was angrier than ever. I wonder if, perhaps, this baby might be a way for my brother to find happiness, a way to save him from himself."

All three of them hear footsteps and Elijah looks behind him away from us.

"I'm glad you feel that way because we need your help."
