EXCITEMENT WAS ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE HOW AMELIA WAS FEELING IN THAT MOMENT. Maybe it was adrenaline. She really didn't know. All she knew was that she was standing in the JKF airport, holding a sign up with Chris' name on it, trying not to bounce around in excitement.
Amelia recognised Chris in his tight black shirt, black jeans, and glasses before he recognised her in her denim shorts and tank top. Her excitement and adrenaline got the best of her, me she found herself yelling out his name as he made his way over.
"CHRIS!" She shouted, breaking into a sprint towards the brunette.
Before Chris could even recognise the blonde running towards her, she was hugging his body like a koala on a tree. When he did recognise her however, a loud laugh escaped his lips as he swung her around happily, the both of them laughing.
"God, I missed you," mumbled Amelia, burying her face into the crook of his neck.
Chris' laughter caused his throat to vibrate, making Amelia smile against him. He had to hold back the groan that was wanting to escape his lips when he felt her lips curl against the side of his neck.
"I missed you too, shit head," replied Chris, pressing a kiss to her forehead.
Amelia was still clinging to him like a monkey, and it made Chris laugh. He tried to pry her off his body, but no to avail. She wasn't having it. She'd been away from him too long to let him go so easily.
"Chris, what do you think I am? Your personal dog sitter? Come and grab this hound or I'm leaving him behind," snapped Hannah, obviously not happy for whatever reason.
Chris rolled his eyes, turning to face his girlfriend. "Yes, you are. You date me, and you have to take the responsibility to look after my dog whilst I hug my best friend, who I haven't seen in 4 months, might I add. So stop complaining. Not everything is about you, babe," retorted Chris, shutting her up immediately.
"That's what I thought," mumbled Amelia.
She didn't think that Chris could hear what she had said, but when he laughed, she realised that he had in fact heard her comment. She winced, waiting for the harsh comeback that was getting ready to be thrown at her, however, it never came.
"You're such an ass," said Hannah, handing Chris the lead to Drift.
"Baby, you weren't saying that last night," replied Chris, giving Hannah a smirk.
"You're the one to talk," smirked Hannah.
Amelia snorted, choking on her saliva somehow. She burst into laughter, trying to - and failing - block the laughter by burying her face into Chris' shoulder. Chris realised that Amelia was laughing, and he started laughing when he noticed she was trying to hide it.
"Are we gonna leave or?" asked Chris. "And are you gonna get off me or nah?"
Amelia shook her head with a big smile. "Nope. You have to deal with my annoying self until I get called into work."
Amelia pulled away, planting herself onto her feet again. Hannah almost breathed out in relief at the fact that she had finally let go of her boyfriend, and could finally give him a little bit of attention.
"AKA, your office," replied Chris, laughing, as Amelia walked beside him with Drift on the leash.
When the pup recognised Amelia, he bounced around happily, barking at her. It made her smile, and Chris noticed the way her eyes lit up like her smile had. His lips tugged into a small smile that Hannah had noticed, and it hurt. She'll admit that. She knew Chris still loved Amelia, because it was completely obvious to everyone but themselves.
"Yes, my office, because I'm not a famous actor like you are."
"No, but you are famous too. You did major in English and Performing Arts at University, Mel. You could become one if you really wanted."
Amelia shrugged. "I don't know. I was never one for the movie industry.
"You could be. You're gorgeous. Everybody would love you. Chris mentioned that you're good at acting too," mentioned Hannah, causing a smile to tug at Amelia's lips.
"What Hannah said. Hey, I was reading this thing earlier. They've got auditions for the new Super-girl TV show in a few days. You wanna go?" asked Chris.
Amelia smiled. "Sure, I'll give it a shot."
"Good, you owe me McDonald's for a week if you get the part."
Hannah and Amelia looked at one another, both of them rolling their eyes with a smile. Chris opened Amelia's back car door, throwing his luggage in, along with Hannah's, before climbing into the passengers side after shutting the door. Hannah climbed into the back seat on the other side with Drift on her lap, while Amelia climbed into the drivers side.
"So, how's Silver?" Chris asked, whilst they were sitting at the traffic lights.
"He's good. Better behaved than the idiot in the passengers seat," retorted Amelia.
Hannah burst into laughter, along with Amelia when she saw Chris clenching his jaw with an angry smirk. His eyes locked onto Amelia, where her eyes locked with his, and she giggled at him.
"You did not just say that," said Chris.
"Oh, I think she did," chuckled Hannah.
Amelia let out another laugh, pulling into the street that her apartment was located in. Drift barked at Chris from the back seat, causing him to look over at the puppy.
He chuckled. "Amelia's being mean. You're gonna help me get her, aren't ya?"
Drift barked, causing Chris to chuckle. He reached over and gave Drift a pat on the head, just as the car pulled to a stop. The three of them got out of the car, and the two best friends had a race up to Amelia's apartment. Chris in the elevator, and Amelia up the stairs.
Amelia won, much to Chris' surprise. She gave him a large smile, to which he rolled his eyes at. Every time they'd do this, Chris'd win, due to Amelia not being the exercising type. However, whilst he was away, she did do a lot of exercising to build up her body strength.
AFTER UNPACKING HIS ROOM AGAIN FOR THE SECOND TIME THAT YEAR, CHRIS SAT ON THE COUCH WITH HANNAH CUDDLED UP NEXT TO HIM. Amelia was in the kitchen, preparing dinner for the three of them, when she heard Hannah let out a laugh after a few minutes of silence.
Amelia's eyes immediately locked on the couple sitting on the couch, and she watched just as Chris leans over to press his lips against Hannah's. Her heart clenched in pain, and her stomach dropped when Chris gave the smile she finally recognised as the one he used to give her.
She shook the thoughts away, knowing that nothing between her and Chris would work out. It never would. It took her months to realise that if you ever let anything go, it's too late. Just like her and Chris. She was too late, and he was happier without her.
