CHAPTER TWELVE; STOLEN DANCE

FALLING
xii. STOLEN DANCE
"SOUNDS LIKE A GAY STRIPPER NAME TO ME."

"I want you by my side
So that I never feel alone again," - Milky Chance [Stolen Dance]

BEING EMOTIONAL WAS ONE THING THAT AMELIA HATED THE MOST. However, it gave her an idea for a new story to write, which is clearly what she needed. She needed to clear her head, and writing was her escape. She found herself curled up on the couch again, her writing diary on her lap, while tunes played in the background.

"Why can't you understand half the lyrics?" asked Chris, furrowing his eyebrows in confusion.

Amelia glanced up at him as he made his way over, collapsing on the couch beside her. She let out a small chuckle at his random question, continuing on with her writing as she answered him.

"The singer is German, along with the band. That's why."

"What're they called?" asked Chris, bopping his head along to the beat of the song.

"Milky Chance," replied Amelia, scribbling down in her diary.

"Sounds like a gay stripper name to me," mentioned Chris, picking up her iced coffee to take a sip.

Amelia snorted, shaking her head at him. Chris laughed at his own idea, before Amelia looked up from her book to look up at him. They glanced at one another, and then both burst into laughter.

"I bet he'd go for you, if you went to the strip club," laughed Amelia.

Chris spat out the iced coffee he had just taken another sip of, causing Amelia to jump up to stop herself from getting sprayed on. Amelia burst into loud laughter as Chris started choking, then started coughing. Amelia was laughing so hard that her stomach had started to ache. Tears were falling from her eyes, and Chris was still coughing, until he started laughing again.

He placed the cup of iced coffee onto the coffee table, rising from where he was sitting. Amelia watched from her space beside him, realising he had iced coffee all over himself, causing her to giggle to herself. A glare was sent her way, but it only made her laugh more.

"Shut up, you idiot," muttered Chris, picking up the glass.

"I'm the idiot? You're the one who said it!" exclaimed Amelia, laughing at him again.

Chris rolled his eyes, mimicking her talking with his hands as he walked past to go to the kitchen. Amelia chuckled, curling back up on the couch to continue writing in her diary. She was busy humming to the music and writing in her diary to even notice that Drift jumped onto the couch beside her.

It wasn't until he nuzzled against her, with a sad look on his face, that she noticed he was even there. She noticed his unhappy look, and smiled sadly, leaning over to stroke his head a few times.

"I know buddy. I miss him too," said Amelia, managing to kiss his head.

Amelia went back to her writing, jotting down every sentence that came to her mind. She didn't even notice how long she had been sitting there alone, nor the fact that Chris had never came back. She was in her own world, and she didn't even hear the shower going. Chris stood in the kitchen, dressed in clean clothes after showering, admiring his best friend from a distance.

She was gorgeous. He didn't fully understand how gorgeous she was until in that moment. The way her hair rested on her shoulders, the way her eyes brightened whenever she came up with something to write, or the way her lips twitched when she was concentrating. It made him smile, but it still made him upset, due to the fact that she wasn't even close to being his.

He cared for her, a lot. He loved her, a lot. He didn't know if she felt the same way, and that's what scared him the most. He knew it wasn't a topic to bring up in conversation because everything between them would be awkward, and the thought of rejection scared him even more. He didn't want to scare her away.

He wanted to make her happy, every day. He spoilt her all the time after he'd come back from filming, and although she said she didn't like him spending so much money on her. He knew that she secretly liked it, a lot. He just stood and stared, until an idea popped into his head.

"Hey Lia," said Chris, pushing himself off the wall to walk towards her.

"Mmm?" She hummed in response, not looking up from her book.

"How would you feel about getting another puppy? I know, that we just lost Flash, but, Drift is alone now. He has nobody, and he had Flash from the first time I brought him home. What if we got another puppy. Not just for us, but for Drift too?" suggested Chris, kneeling down in front of her, between the coffee table and where she was sitting on the couch.

Amelia looked up from her book as soon as he said the word "puppy", and stared at him until he finished speaking. She glanced over at Drift, who was sulking on the couch beside her, and smiled sadly at him. She ignored Chris' question for the minute, and placed her book down onto the coffee table.

"Drift," said Amelia, catching the dog's attention.

Drift lifted his head from where it was resting on his paws, and looked over at Amelia with a saddened look. She smiled sadly at him, patting her lap for him to come over. He rose from his spot on the couch, stretching, just as Amelia crossed her legs so he could climb onto her.

The pointer curled up on her lap, letting his head hang off her thigh, right where Chris was sitting on the ground. Chris smiled at his dog, reaching up and giving him a handful of pats on the head. Amelia let her hands run down from his neck to his back, repeatedly enough to comfort the dog.

"Drift, do you want another friend to play with?" Amelia asked, causing Chris' eyes to lock on her.

Drift's eyes flickered up to her, and a small bark escaped his lips. Amelia smiled at him, stroking his head gently. It was enough to make him place his head down, while Amelia's next sentence shocked Chris.

"We'll get you a new friend then, won't we Chris?" asked Amelia, glancing down at Chris.

He just nodded, smiling to himself. It was like killing two birds with one stone, because he knew exactly how to cheer the both of them up, and he planned on doing it as quickly as possible. He couldn't bare seeing either of them being upset, nor could he bare the thought of losing either of them.
