Chapter Ten
I'm running out of ideas about flashbacks for Cash and Tessa, but they are a must. Tell me what sweet things/problems/fights you want me to write about!

"You ready to go clubbing with me?" Cash asked, appearing behind me and putting his hands on my hips from behind me. I put in my stud earrings and grinned at him through the mirror as I began to seductively sway side to side, rubbing my behind against his member. I could feel him going hard and I laughed as his fingers dug into my hips. "Stop it or we'll never leave," he growled in my ear.
I reached back and wrapped my arms around his neck, my back pressed against his chest. "I'm sorry, baby, you're just so tempting." I tilted my head back and gazed at him under hooded eyes.
Cash groaned and his head swooped down to press kisses across my bare shoulders. My red dress was short, barely to the middle of my thighs and backless. It was daring, but I was confident about my body, so I thought why not? Cash seemed to like it a lot.
"I'm going to kill any guy who even looks at you," he growled as his fingers feathed over the skin of my back. I shivered and my eyes closed on its own accord.
"Someone's a little possessive," I breathed.
Turning me around, he looked down at me with smoldering blue eyes. I felt myself getting lost in them. Cash's hand pressed against my lower back and he pushed me against him. "I can't afford not to be. You're so sexy," he purred, then gave me a kiss that left me breathless.
-
"I'm surprised he's letting you hold him without crying," I told Pierce, grinning as he bounced Tanner in his muscular arms.
"Does he usually cry when people try to carry him?" Pierce asked.
I nodded. "Yeah. It took a few days for Tanner to get used to my parents. The first day, he began crying within a minute," I explained.
There was warmth in his eyes. Pierce kissed Tanner on the forehead and my heart instantly clenched. Why couldn't Cash have been like this to Tanner? Cash had never been so sweet and affectionate. Pierce wasn't even the father of my son and he has treated him much better.
Seeing them together made tears appear in my eyes. I tried to blink them away before Pierce saw it, but he was able to read my like a book, so of course he noticed. Pierce frowned and that made Tanner uneasy, so he began to whine uncomfortably.
"Tessa, what's wrong?" he asked worriedly.
I quickly wiped my cheeks. "Nothing."
He gave me a flat look. "Don't give me that, Tess."
"It's just that," I started, rubbing furiously at my eyes. "I just wish...I just wish Cash cared about Tanner as much as you seem to."
"Seem to?" he echoed incredously. "Tessa, I do care about him. And Cash is a," he paused, glanced at the baby, then said, "jerk." I gave a wobbly smile because he had stopped himself from cursing in front of Tanner.
"Pierce, I'm so glad you're back in my life." I hugged him, squishing Tanner in the middle and he gave a bubbly little laugh that made me smother him in kisses all over his face.
"I'm glad I'm back in your life, too," Pierce murmured. I looked up at him, drawn by the tone of his voice and saw that his eyes were alight with longing. "Tessa," he whispered and his face leaned close to mine and I was so sure we were going to kiss again, after a whole six years, but then Tanner interrupted, his hand slapping on both of our cheeks, giggling.
My cheeks reddening in embarrassment, I turned around and walked out of the nursery towards the kitchen. "Would you like to stay for dinner?" I tossed over my shoulder.
"I have some things to do," he said apologetically. "But maybe another time?"
I hid my dissapointment. "Yeah, sure," I chirped, casting my eyes down as I hurried to the kitchen.
His footsteps followed me. "Tessa, I am sorry," he insisted.
Not wanting to seem too pathetic, I face him and smiled. "I know, Pierce. I just missed you a lot and I guess I wanted to spend time with you."
He held Tanner with one arm and then brought me to his chest with the other. I bit my lip when he hesitated, but then he finally said, "I won't be able to come by tomorrow, but what about Thursday?"
"Okay," I agreed, smiling. We, at least, had a date for when we'd meet up. "Give me your number," I ordered.
Pierce raised a brow and I blushed. Amusement flickered through his eyes. "Demanding, aren't you?" He recited his number and I found my phone, so I could copy it under his name. Then he peered at the screen and barely managed to stop himself from cursing out loud in front of my baby. "I have to go now." He quickly kissed me on the cheek, then pressed a more sweet one to Tanner's head. "I'll be back."
I took Tanner in my arms and watched Pierce stride confidently to the main door. He shot me a breathtaking smile from over his shoulder and winked before he disappeared out the door. I was sad to watch him go. I wished he didn't have to.
Sighing, I leaned heavily against the island, my head falling back. "Tanner, what have I gotten myself into?"
-
I regretted telling Damien, the diner owner, that I'd start working a week later. Fixing up my house had taken less time than I'd originally planned and I was, to be honest, bored. So the next day, I called Luke's mother, Rosie McCormick and she invited me over to her home.
They still lived in the same place and mansion - yes, mansion - was as gorgeous as ever. I remembered coming to this house every other day to take care of Luke. It didn't even look very different.
The man at the gate recognized me and let me in. I waved at him as I drove down the circular driveway. I parked the car and took out Tanner's carseat with him tucked inside since it was a particularly cool day. Hearing footsteps, I turned and saw Luke running down the front steps, only to freeze when he saw the baby.
"Woah! Tessa, you have a kid?" he exclaimed.
I nodded. "This is who I wanted you to meet, Luke." I smiled at him, a little awed, again struck by how grown up he was. "His name is Tanner."
Luke still looked shocked, but he came forward and looked at Tanner who had fallen asleep on the way. He was curled up in his carseat peacefully, his fist under his chin, long lashes casting shadows over his smooth, rounded cheeks. "He's so cute. Izzy is going to love him."
"I can't wait to meet her," I said honestly. "Where's your mom?"
"Inside, making lunch," he explained. "Want me to carry the carseat?" Luke asked.
I pinched his cheek playfully and he scowled. "It's okay, baby, I got it."
"I'm not a baby," he told me.
"That's just what you think," I laughed and carried the carseat up to the mansion, walking besides Luke. To be honest, I was a little nervous about seeing Mrs. McCormick again. I didn't know what her reaction would be to me having a child. Even though she was really sweet, she wasn't a big fan of single mothers and I didn't know who she would disapprove of, Cash, me or both.
When I stepped in, my eyes instantly sought out a little girl, no more than one, waddling towards us. She was beautiful and angelic, wearing a light pink dress and a bow stuck in her white blonde hair. Sticking her thumb in her mouth, the toddler went over to Luke, leaned into his leg and stared up at me with huge, doe-like hazel eyes.
Luke lifted her up and kissed her on the cheek. "This is Isabelle. Isabelle, this is my friend, Tessa," he said to her softly. And I lost my breath again. Was that really the six year old boy I had left behind?
"Hi, Isabelle," I cooed, setting down Tanner's carseat carefully. "How are you, sweetheart?"
She looked at me shyly, then turned away, very much like how Tanner had reacted to Pierce first. Her face buried in Luke's neck and he laughed. "She's really shy. Just wait until she gets used to you. She won't stop talking."
"You were like that, too," I said to him, smiling at the brother and sister until I finally heard Rosie's voice.
"Tessa, dear, wow, look at you! You're so grown up!" I looked over at her and grinned because she looked exactly the same as she did when I was eighteen. Her blonde hair was in a French bun and she was wearing a casual, but classy, yellow dress that hinted at her still beautiful figure.
"Hi, Rosie. You look beautiful," I complimented as I recieved and reciprocated her hug.
"Oh," she blushed, modestly. "You're too sweet, Tessa. You look lovely, as well." She beamed at me until her gaze fell down to Tanner. "Oh! And who's this?"
I got the slightest bit nervous at her inquiring gaze because I had always looked up to Rosie as a teenager, so I wanted her to approve. It was probably silly now because I was a grown woman, but it always felt good to have the people you idolize be proud of you.
"This is my son, Tanner. He's three months old," I explained softly.
Rosie nodded, surprised. "Tessa Ryan, with a child?" She laughed a little. "Wow."
A faint blush covered my cheeks. "Tessa Gallagher now," I mumbled, tucking my loose blonde hair behind my ear. I hadn't bothered to change my last name after the divorce.
"Oh, you're married?" Both Rosie's and Luke's eyes flitted to my ring finger and I knew what they were looking for.
"Were," I corrected. "I just got divorced a month ago." I hid my sadness behind my fake smile, the one I had perfected in the time between when Cash left and I left for Springfield because that was when all of my friends had come to check up on me. Some genuine. Some as fake as Kim Kardashian.
Rosie smiled sympathertically. "I won't ask until you're ready to tell me," she said gently and led me to her kitchen. "I hope you haven't eaten, yet. I made lunch."
My eyes sparked and I ruffled Luke's hair. The McCormick family had their own chef, so Rosie only cooked when she wanted to, but when she did, it was delicious. So naturally, I was excited. "Great, I'm starving," I laughed. And they laughed along with me.
