Ashley Wren gets trapped in awkward conversations.
Ashley stepped out of Ethan's bedroom, wrapped up in a fluffy white bathrobe several sizes too big. He peeked back into the bedroom, taking in the state of the room. Just like he expected there were precious metals everywhere; apparently his powers were triggered by more than just fear. Parts of the bed sheet was bright solid gold, and the hand-shaped patches of the headboard were a luminous silver. There was even a giant golden patch on the wall where Ethan had him pressed up against last night.
They hadn't done anything too serious; the pair knew now probably wasn't the best time for sex.
It's way too early, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun though.
He blushed from the onslaught of memories and shut the door behind him, leaving Ethan sprawled out on the bed, fast asleep. He stepped out of the apartment, tumbling down the stairs clumsily. He stepped into the kitchen, sidestepping Agatha as she stirred liquid chocolate by the oven.
He opened the kitchen's giant fridge and poured over its contents, looking for something he could warm up and eat quickly. There was no kitchen upstairs, and he needed to be quick, so he'd stay out of the chefs and waiters' way.
"Looking for something?"
Ashley spun around, startled at the sound of a vaguely familiar voice. He relaxed when he realized it was just Kaili.
She was wearing a dark blue tank top which showed of the dark tattoo that ran up her arm from the tips of her fingers to her shoulder and over her chest. "Um yes." He shook his head, realizing he'd been staring. "Something to eat."
"Come. I'll get you something." She made her way towards the oven, not bothering to check if he was following her. Kaili seemed to be a woman of few words.
"Are you sure it won't be to much trouble?" Ashley asked as he followed her to one of the kitchen stoves.
"Nope, I made too much for myself anyway."
Kaili dished out two plates of something called tilapia Milanese, which sounds vaguely Italian to Ashley, and set his plate in front of him. "Thank you."
"You're welcome."
And with that, the dreadful awkwardness descends.
To stave it off Ashley said the first thing he can think of: "I like your tattoo."
It was made up of geometric patterns and swirls with flowers scattered throughout the pattern of dark black ink against her light brown skin.
"Thanks. I got it a few years ago when I still lived in a Hawaii."
"What is it?"
"It's a pawehe pattern with orchids. The pawehe symbolizes an ability to bring things together, and the orchids symbolize sophistication and beauty."
"How long have you had it?"
"About five years. It really, really hurt because I had it tapped in not inked."
"Tapped in?"
And with that, Ashley ended up engrossed in a surprisingly interesting conversation about Hawaiian tattoo art before quickly moving on to other things.

Candice stepped into the Glen, sidestepping another Fairies giant silvery wings. The store was closed to most humans since it's past 12 pm. Candice's own glassy purple wings were folded behind her back delicately, out of peoples way.
She walked up to the checkout counter, noting the unfamiliar new boy at the checkout. He smiled widely at her, golden brown eyes wide open. The first thing she noticed about him was his height; he was about an inch or two shorter than her.
"Hello, welcome to the Glen. My name's Ashley, how can I-"
"You're Ashley? Oh my god, you're so cute!" Ashley stepped back, slightly shocked at her sudden outburst.
"Hi?"
"Oh right. I haven't even introduced myself." She rolled her large purple eyes and shook her head as if she did that all the time. "My name's Candice, Kaili's mate, she mentioned you."
"Oh. Hello..." Ashley doesn't really know how to respond; he wasn't expecting to end up trapped in a conversation all of a sudden.
"Candice calm down. You're probably scaring him." A man with golden blond hair and equally golden eyes walked up to them, slinging his arm around Candice's shoulder. "She'll take two raspberry starburst cupcakes, one small box of shortbread and one slice of double chocolate cake. Oh and two hot chocolates, one jasmine tea, and a black coffee."
"Right, anything else?"
"Your number?"
This day keeps getting odder and odder.
Ashley doesn't know how to respond. Thankfully, he doesn't have to since Candice does it for him.
"Lukas!" She grabbed her taller friend by the ear, tugging his face down to meet hers. "I thought you were still screwing around with Micah."
"He's going back to Russia two days from now, besides we're not exclusive." Lucas doesn't look that hurt by the vice grip she has on his ear, his typical smirk was still plastered across his face. "Might as well start looking now."
"Well, this one's taken." She finally turned back to Ashley, who's thankful there's no one behind them. "Sorry about my idiotic friend, he thinks being hot is enough to get him into anyone's pants."
"It usually is."
