It was a dark and gloomy night, my sister and I were out playing catch in the field by the monastery when I heard a faint crash in the area. I saw a light then a plume of smoke come up from our home was. I dropped the ball and ran to home as fast as my little legs could tripping at least twice. When I arrived at the side I just froze in my spot. My sister Katsumi put her hand on my shoulder. I cried and couldn’t stop.

“MAMA, PAPA!!” my voice quivered as tears rolled down my cheeks. The wind blew from behind sending some of my tears flying into the flames. I just watched as the blood-ruby red flames inhaled my home and parents.

“Shhh... it’s gonna be ok sis… I promise… we’ll be ok…” My sister pulled me into a hug in attempt to hug me and she didn’t let go until the fire was put out. When we looked in the wreckage we found a sword with a note it said: “The sword’s name is Gitai no ken. (Gee-Ty-no-ken) Kari, take care of it and never use it… EVER! ~love mom and dad” I tried not to cry. We also found an old tan sort of burned hat I kept that, A few pictures, two bags that were in useable condition and some money stashed in them. We packed up the bags with our keep sakes, said good bye to our once home and our parents then went to the store to buy some food and supplies. After that we started walking... That was eleven years ago and now we are living in a pretty small apartment. The two of us stick together and look out for each other…. Well, Katsumi looks after me much more than I do her. I guess it’s because I get into fights and she doesn’t. She always scolds and lectures me while she’s patching me up! She’s such a nag!

“Kari Himura gets to the table! Dinner is ready!” I raced to the table and saw Katsumi and two plates of salmon with rice and some curry!

“OH BOY!!!” I took out my chopsticks and started to eat. “THANKS FOR THE FOOD!!” I said with a full mouth.

“Ahem!” Katsumi raised her eyebrow. I swallowed and sighed.

“Thanks for the food!” I smiled a little proud of myself on the inside. “Hehe~ I’m goin for a walk-“ I got up with my arms behind my head. “- want me to stop by the store to get and thing?” Katsumi shook her head.

“No, just please be careful ok sis?” I smiled and nodded then raced outside.

“It’s SOOOOOOO nice out today!” I walked to the park and climbed a tree to get an AWESOME view of the place “AWESOME!!” I sighed. “What a view.” After a while I heard an arrow wiz past my ear.

“HAH OOPS~!!” I heard Reiji call out from the bottom of the tree. I growled.

“STUPID POSER! WHY DON’T YOU STOP COWERIN BEHINDE THAT DANM BOW OF YOURS HUH~?! Or are you too chicken to?!”I mimicked a chicken. “BAWK BABAWK BAWK!!!” I laughed then jumped down with a smirk.

“You’re gonna regret that Himura!”I laughed

“Ooh I’m SO scared!” he threw punches at me and I flew back.

“Are ya scared now?! Huh?!”I shook my head.

“Not even close!” he kept punching and kicking me. When I got home that night I was all beat up and bloody… as usual “danm… Katsu’s gonna kill me for sure this time…” I opened the door. “I’m ho-“Katsumi hugged me

”KARI! Oh I was SO worried about you!” she looked at me “Reiji again?” I nodded. “Ugh… come on… I won’t scold or lecture this time.” she got the first aid kit. I winced when she put on the bandages. “Kari… you know that guy Mephisto right?” I looked at her.

“That Chuckey poser?” she looked at me in the eyes, blinked then looked back down at what she was doing.

“Chuckey’s a possessed puppet not a clown, Kari”

“Oh… sorry, but yes I remember him.”

“Well, he was a good friend to our parents.”

“Yeah, I remember when he came to visit! Boy was he funny lookin!” I laughed.

“Well, we talked the other day and now we are going to the academy he works at! It’s SUPER hard to get into if you’re not rich!” I stared at her SC-SC-SCHOOL?!!! AW GEEZ! AND AN ACADEMY!!! I’m gonna have to wear a UNIFORM, not only that but the girl uniforms ALWAYS had skirts!! I HATE SKIRTS!!! I guess I’ll try to wear a boy uniform…oh man~! “You WILL go! Got it!” I nodded.

“Yes Katsu.” She smiled

“Good. Now go pack your things and set them by the door. Mephisto comes to get us tomorrow ok?!” I nodded and went to pack my things in my sort of burned bag that I salvaged from the fire at the monastery. When I was done I went and set my stuff down by the front door next to Katsumi’s stuff.

“Well-“I yawned “I’m tired so, I’m gonna go hit the sack. Night sis!”

“Night Kari.” I slept pretty soundly that night.
