Prologue
Dana saw Jesse standing in line along with all the other family and friends of the passengers who were waiting for their loved ones to get through Customs. She sighed a load of relief when she reached him, pulling behind her two large suitcases.
Across her back, she had strapped her carry on and a tote bag jammed packed with souvenirs. Familiar arms came around her in a loving hug.
"I missed you," she moaned into his shoulder.
"You're exhausted," he said, feeling her leaning all her weight on him for support.
"Damn right." She picked up her head and brushed her hair out of her face. "Longest flight I have ever been on. I'm happy to finally be home!"
"Let me help you with those," Jesse told her, reaching to take the bags off her shoulders.
"What the hell is that?" Dana yelled, grabbing his left hand to take another look at it.
"What?" Jesse asked puzzled.
"Jess, that's a wedding band!" Dana exclaimed.
"Why are you wearing a wedding band?" She asked, her eyes tearing up.
"Now, don't go doing that." He took her bags and threw his other arm around her.
"What's going on, Jess? You got married? Who the hell did you marry?" she demanded as he tried to get her to walk through the airport.
"Can we talk about this when we get home?" he asked, continuing to walk.
"No," she pulled him to a stop, "I want to know why my best friend got married and I wasn't even invited to the frigging wedding!"
Jesse sighed. "It was spur of the moment." He moved again, heading towards the exit.
"Spur of the moment! Spur of the moment!" Dana chased after him, "Jesse, a wedding is not a spur of the moment event!"
"We went to Las Vegas," he said with a shrug.
"Oh, God! Vegas? You got married in Vegas? Of all things! God! What did your parents say?" she demanded.
"That they are very happy for us," Jesse said with a smile.
Dana shook her head in disbelief following him outside to the parking lot. "Who the hell did you marry?"
"You'll see when we get home."
"She's staying at our apartment?!" Dana shrieked as she avoided colliding into a taxi.
"She's my wife, Dana. What was I going to do? Ask her to sleep outside?" He led her over to his truck, tossing her bags into the back.
"This is unbelievable!" she practically shouted.
"You're telling me," he said, unlocking the passenger door.
Dana shook her head and climbed in. "Where's Summer? She couldn't come pick me up? I could have used the moral support here," Dana said as he closed the door.
He came around the back of the truck to the other side and climbed in the driver's seat.
"She's not feeling well. You'll see her when we get home," Jesse told her.
"Is she okay?"
"Yeah. She's a bit nauseous but she's doing great," Jesse said, holding back a grin.
