Chapter 89
Tokyo
"Sir, Aki said they are heading to a Thai Restaurant. Arthit is going to meet that gentleman Sora. Would you like to continue to the hotel?"
"Is he going with Knot?" Kongpob asked.
"Aki said it's just Arthit and him." Thak looked at Kongpob through the rear view mirror, gauging his reaction.
"Hmm. Do you have their meeting location?"
"Yes sir. Would you like to go there? We are actually very close to the location."
"Yes then. Please take me there."
Kongpob looked out the window. All the street lights and people of Tokyo passing by as they zoomed across the city. He placed the box of mango puddings to the side.
Thinking back, he's not sure he should have come in the first place. He has never been one to be this spontaneous. His life is written in a calendar, and planned to a T. He doesn't have the luxury of spontaneity. However, his life has been completely unpredictable lately. This visit and the last was both because of the same man.
This morning after his 9 o'clock meeting, he was passing by the marketplace where Mae Yui sold her amazing mango puddings. Kongpob couldn't help himself from visiting the kind woman, and maybe just a tiny bit of him misses his boyfriend. The mango pudding reminds him of a smiling Arthit.
So, he jumped out of the car to go buy four mango puddings, just in case Arthit wanted more than two, and three was odd. And of course Mae Yui gave him some freebies again, and reprimanded him for not bringing the other handsome man. So he told her that Arthit was not in town, but will be back the next day instead.
She immediately tried to take her mango puddings back. She wanted to refund the puddings. Kongpob had to wrap his arms around the bag tightly from being pried away. Mae Yui said the puddings will not be good by tomorrow. And she can't have Kongpob ruin her reputation. She can't let her 'best mango pudding in town' reputation be tainted due to overnight pudding.
Kongpob had to promise they will all be eaten by tonight. Only then did she allow Kongpob to leave with her mango puddings. Sighing to himself, Kongpob got back into his car. Before he even settled down, a call came from his secretary Alexa. She informed him that the chairman of Sansiri had to cancel their meeting, and she rescheduled it for next Tuesday.
Kongpob looked at the bag of mango puddings in his hand, and then informed Alexa to tell M to take care of the department meeting in the afternoon on his own. He called his mother and Nina to inform them that he was going to Tokyo. He got an earful from his mother about how reckless, and ridiculous he is being since Arthit will be returning tomorrow. However, she made no attempts to stop him.
Nina on the other hand was jumping and squealing in his ears. He had to hang up before he lost his hearing. And just like that, he hopped on a jet. Seven hours later, he is driving down the streets of Tokyo. Well, Thak is actually the one doing the driving. Kongpob wanted to surprise Arthit. So, he didn't tell Arthit that he was coming. They had only exchanged their morning messages like usual. When he turned on his phone after he landed, there was a message from Arthit. He asked him to call him back when he gets the message.
Now, that he has learned that Arthit is meeting with Sora, he can guess that's probably what the call was about. He is glad Arthit is at least going with Aki.
After riding for ten minutes, Kongpob had reached the Thai restaurant. The was no parking available nearby, so Thak dropped him off. Kongpob really doesn't have any idea what he is going to do here. Never in his life has he been jealous of anyone. Because he is a firm believer that he can achieve anything he wanted with dedication and hard work. However, love was like a wrench thrown into his well-oiled machine.
This Sora guy has really surprised him. Besides being a handsome young man with a bright future, he actually had hidden talents. Last night when he saw the clip that Aki had sent of Sora singing at the club, he had to admit the guy is pretty good.
Well, here goes nothing. Kongpob walked into the cozy restaurant. He scanned the place, and spotted Sora at a table alongside the wall staring right back at him. He smiled at the man, and headed towards his table.
Sora was a little bemused. He looked behind himself, and there was nobody there. He turned back to return the smile at the approaching man. This man is very handsome, and looked kind of familiar to him. Where has he seen him before?
Before Sora can ponder any further, Kongpob had reached him. Sora quickly got up from his seat.
(Conversation in Japanese.)
"Hi." Sora said. He was a little nervous. He doesn't know why this man approached him.
"Good evening. I'm Kongpob Suthilak. I believe you are Mr. Sora Fudosan from Mitsubishi Estates." Kongpob said politely smiling while measuring up Sora from head to toe. They were about the same height.
Sora was staring at the handsome man's amazing smile, and got lost for a second in his eyes. Then the name 'Kongpob Suthilak' struck a note. Ah! The lightbulb moment hit. The potential Thai investor that he is supposed to meet next month. Kongpob Suthilak, the CEO of KPS Company in Bangkok.
"Yes, I am Sora Fudosan of Mitsubishi Estates. Good evening Mr. Suthilak. I did not anticipate meeting you here Mr. Suthilak. We have a meeting scheduled in Bangkok next month. Are there any issues that bring you here? I will do my best to address them." Sora said in his utmost professional manner. It doesn't matter that it's not working hours. He must make sure he pleases this investor, and the fact that he came looking for him is a little unnerving at the moment.
Kongpob was about to reply to Sora when he heard the door behind him opened. He saw Sora's eyes look behind him, so he knew who had stepped into the restaurant. He turned around, and his eyes instantly met Arthit's big doe eyes. Arthit's eyes went from surprised, to happy, to about to cry, all in about fifteen seconds it took Arthit to reach him. Seeing his boyfriend ready to cry, Kongpob opened his arms to embrace him.
Kongpob didn't expect Arthit to be this emotional. Arthit was holding on to him really tight, and buried his face into the crook of his neck. There's not that many occasions that Arthit displayed so much affection in public. And even on the rare occasions that he did, he was cautious to make sure they wouldn't draw too much attention. But right now, Arthit didn't seem to care. A lot of people in the restaurant were looking at them. Kongpob moved his hand up and down Arthit's back, soothing him.
Kongpob whispered softly, "hey tiger, missed me?"
Arthit nodded against his neck. He took a deep breath, inhaling Kongpob's scent that he has missed the past three days. Then he slowly loosened his grip around his boyfriend, and pulled away to look his boyfriend in the eyes. He can't believe he is standing in front of him.
"Kongpob, why are you here?" Arthit asked curiously. Blinking a few times to keep any possible tears from falling.
Kongpob tilted his head, and glanced behind Arthit. Aki was nowhere to be found, and then he turned slightly back to look at Sora who seemed shocked at the moment. He looked into Arthit's eyes, and raised an eyebrow at Arthit. His face remained calm, giving nothing away.
Arthit followed Kongpob's line of sight. Then suddenly, he remembered why he came here in the first place. Shit. Kongpob looks mad. Others may not notice it, but there's a storm brewing in there. Shit. Shit. Shit. Why did he tell Aki to wait outside? Oh yeah, to save Sora's face. But who is going to save him now? He needed to do something quick. Arthit took a little step forward trying to grab Kongpob's hand, but the latter quickly shoved his hands in his pants pockets. Shit.
Arthit did the next best thing. He hooked his right arm around Kongpob's arm, and spun him around.
(Converse in Thai.)
"Sora, have you met my boyfriend already? His name is Kongpob Suthilak. He is Thai. You saw him at my hotel last time I was in Tokyo. Kongpob, have you met Sora Fudosan? He is the project manager from Mitsubishi Estates that I am working with."
Sora's eyes go impossibly wider. The man that was at the door when he was shirtless, and had his pants down. That's Kongpob Suthilak! That's why he looked familiar. Holy crap. That's embarrassing. Oh shit! The man he is after is Kongpob Suthilak's boyfriend. What the fuck are the chances? He is so screwed. This explains why Kongpob Suthilak suddenly appeared here tonight. Sora tried to keep calm despite the horror he was feeling inside.
Sora smiled nervously, and replied, "uh, yes. Mr. Suthilak has just introduced himself. He is actually a very important investor I am supposed to meet in Bangkok next month. What a small world."
Kongpob gave a smile that didn't quite meet his eyes. "Yes. We have just met. I look forward to hearing more details about my potential investment in the Tokiwabashi project next month. In the meantime, please do work well with my boyfriend."
Sora heard it loud and clear. One man came to reject him, and another came to stake his claim. Sora nodded with a little bow. He looked at Arthit whose eyes were glued to the side of Kongpob's face.
"Would you two like to sit down?" Sora asked out of courtesy. They can't continue to speak while standing in the little restaurant. The situation is awkward enough already. They don't need people to keep looking over here, and wondering why three men are just standing there talking.
"No. We will be going. I think we have all said what we needed to say." Arthit said with a gentle tug of Kongpob's arm that he is still hooked on to.
"I guess we will be taking our leave now. Enjoy the rest of your evening Mr. Fudosan. Goodnight." Kongpob said.
"Yes, I will. Thank you for your visit. Please enjoy your evening as well. Goodnight." Sora gave a bow, and watched the two men leave. Arthit was now following behind Kongpob, tugging on his sleeve. If Sora wasn't so heartbroken, he would even say they looked cute. Sigh. Why are the good ones always taken?
Kongpob stepped outside of the restaurant, and spotted the limo at the corner of the street. He pivoted, and headed towards it. He paid no mind to Arthit who was tugging on his sleeve. He just kept walking.
"Kongpob, are you really going to ignore me? You didn't come all the way here just to ignore me, right? I'm sorry. How many times do I have to say it? Talk to me. Please Kong." Arthit kept pleading to his brewing boyfriend.
Thak came around to open the door for the approaching men.
"Hello Sir, Arthit." Thak greeted the two men.
Kongpob nodded to Thak, and stepped inside the vehicle.
"Hi Thak. Good to see you." Arthit said before stepping into the vehicle too.
Once inside the car, Arthit scooted over to sit right next to Kongpob. Kongpob then scooted a little further to the other side. Arthit frowned, and pouted. He scooted over again. They did this a couple of more times until Kongpob had no more room on the other side.
Kongpob made the mistake of side glancing at Arthit. His boyfriend had on a grin now because he was trapped with nowhere to go. Kongpob continued to ignore Arthit, and just stared out the window. When he heard that Arthit was going to meet Sora, he assumed that Aki would be there too. However, that clearly wasn't the case. It's not that he didn't trust Arthit, but it's simply the fact that Arthit didn't keep his promise.
Arthit leaned his head on Kongpob's shoulder, and looked out the window on the other side. He doesn't know where they are going, and he really didn't care. He was going wherever Kongpob was going, and that's all that matters. He knows Kongpob is still mad at him, but he can't help feeling happy that he came all the way to Tokyo again just for him. And Kongpob looks so hot when he is angry. The way his eyes narrowed a little with furrowed brows, and his nostrils flared while clenching his jaw. Arthit turned his head to look at Kongpob's angry face again. Hold on. Is he really here just for him?
"Kongpob, are you here by any chance for work?" Arthit asked hoping the answer was no.
Kongpob sighed loudly. He didn't answer Arthit. Instead, Kongpob picked up the box on the other side of him, and placed it on Arthit's lap. Now there was more room to scoot over, but he didn't move since Arthit's head was still on his shoulder. He wasn't that mean.
"What is this?" Arthit asked. He didn't wait for an answer he knew that wasn't coming. He carefully removed the adhesive on the edge, and lifted the lid of the box. He saw four round cups. It was too dark inside the car, so he couldn't tell what they were without taking them out. He picked one up to his eye level.
Realizing what he had in his hand, a big smile broke across his face. Arthit didn't know you can actually package love, and deliver it in a box until this very moment. Now, he knows how it feels to be one of those people that received cute bento boxes for lunch from their loved ones. He always thought it was so cheesy, and only people who had too much time on their hands did those things. Now, look what he's got. He's got an even cheesier boyfriend. A man that flew six hours across the seas to bring him mango puddings.
Arthit gently put the mango pudding back into the box. He carefully set it aside.
Kongpob didn't fully turn his head to face Arthit. However, he was watching Arthit open the box of mango puddings the whole time. Arthit didn't say a single word. He saw him smile, and just put the mango puddings back. Did he not want to eat them? He should eat them before they go bad. And just as he was about to suggest Arthit eat the mango puddings, Arthit climbed into his lap.
"Arthit, you should eat the mango puddings." Kongpob said with a slight frown on his face staring at his boyfriend.
Arthit had on a mischievous grin. "Later. Right now I want to eat you."
