Chapter 18
Arthit's POV
"Haha... you kind of look out of place with your whole biker outfit and your motorbike."
"Well, that's not always a bad thing. I like sticking out."
He smiled and winked at me.
Deep breaths Arthit, take deep breaths. Stay calm.
I almost hyperventilated earlier already when he was putting the helmet on me. His gentle touch, and the way he tucked my hair made me hitch my breath. I'm glad the helmet was put on quick enough that he didn't see my flushed face. Speeding across the city on his bike was amazing in itself, but getting to hold him the way I've been wanting to was beyond exciting. My heart beat was faster than his bike, and as loud as the engine. I really need to stop all these feelings I'm starting to have. And he needs to start wearing all those damn shirts he has.
We parked in front a little white cafe with bamboo trims. The whole back wall of the cafe is a living wall garden. It's very modern, yet cozy. The place was pretty packed.

Okay, now I know what Kongpob means when he said he likes to stick out. The whole restaurant turned to look at us, mainly him as we walked in. Women were batting their eyes, and trying to make eye contact with him from left and right. Okay, that one on the right is undressing me with her eyes. I can feel it. I need to hide.
I followed Kongpob to a corner booth that has a reserved sign on the table.
"This table is reserved."
"Yes, it's reserved for me." He said cockily.
We sat down, and Kongpob handed me a menu that was already sitting on the table.
"What's good here?"
"I usually get their french toast, but you kind of ruined it for me."
He smiles, and my heart starts to pound again.
"What do you mean?"
"Their french toast here is pretty good, but I like yours better."
"Why didn't we eat at home then. I could have made you some."
"No, you've been cooking all week for me already. So, just relax."
I nodded to that statement. It's true. I've been cooking all week, but I've enjoyed our meals together. In matter of fact, I spend quite a bit of time just planning what I want to make for him each night. It's very satisfying to see him enjoy my food.
A beautiful woman in a simple fitted white cropped t-shirts, and super short shorts came and sat next to Kongpob.
Nina: Hey sweetie, who's this?
She wraps her arms around Kongpob's and leans against him. As he smiles and continues looking at the menu.
Kongpob: This is Arthit. He has been my roommate for the past two weeks. Arthit, this is Nina, the owner of this cafe.
Arthit: Nice to meet you.
Nina: The pleasure is all mine cutie. You must be special. Kongpob has never brought anyone here with him.
I chuckled at her statement.
Kongpob: Yes he is. He is the one that made the amazing french toast.
Nina: So you're the one trying to steal my business. Haha.
I laughed at that.
Arthit: I'm sure he is just exaggerating. It can't be that good.
Nina: Well, why don't you try mine here, and you can decide for yourself.
Arthit: Sure. French toast for me then.
Kongpob: Mmm... french toast. I think I'll have the eggs Benedict.
Arthit: Kongpob, I know what you're thinking. You're going to steal french toast from my plate.
Kongpob: Haha...you know me so well. You can't finish it anyway. I'm just helping you.
Nina: Hmm... you two get along so well. Hey, let me get a better look at you Kong.
Nina grabs Kongpob's face with both her hands, looking from cheek to cheek, and smiles.
Kongpob just smiles brightly at her.
Nina: Kongpob, your face is a little rounder. I like it.
She let's go of him, and goes back to wrapping her arms around his. I kind of feel like I shouldn't be here.
Kongpob: Arthit has been cooking at home, so I've been eating well.
Nina: That's great. I told you to stop eating instant noodles at night. You look so much healthier.
Nina waves at one of the waitresses passing by.
Waitress: Yes boss?
Nina: French toast. Eggs Benedict, eggs on the side not on the muffins. The poached eggs not too runny. Bring extra hollandaise sauce. A pot of coffee.
The waitress nods and walks away.
Kongpob: You know just how I like it.
Nina: Yes, I do.
The same waitress brings a pot of coffee with cups to us.
Nina: Thank you.
The waitress nods and walks away.
Nina gives us each a cup, pours us coffee from the pot.
Kongpob: Why don't you get a cup too?
Nina: Nah, I have to get back to work in a minute.
I was about to get the cream and sugar, but Kongpob gets to it first. He pulls my cup closer to him, and puts in the sugar and cream like he has everyday for the past two weeks. He gives it a good stir with the little spoon, and then pushes it back to me.
Nina just watches quietly as Kongpob does the same for his own.
I was all smiles until I saw Nina take Kongpob's cup, and start sipping.
Kongpob: Sighs, I told you to get your own cup.
Nina: Why would I miss the chance to annoy you? Besides, you should be used to sharing your cup with me by now.
Nina has a satisfied smirk on her face, and places the cup back in front of Kongpob.
Kongpob shakes his head a little, and just picks the cup up for a sip. Not minding the lipstick stain that is now on the cup.
Nina looks to me with a smile.
Nina: Isn't Kongpob's coffee the best?
Arthit: It is very good.
Nina: Alright boys, enjoy breakfast. I need to get back to work. I'll check on you guys later.
Nina gives Kongpob a peck on his cheek, and got up to leave us.
Arthit: She's very friendly.
Who is she? Who is she?
Kongpob: Yes, she is. She is one of the nicest people I know.
Kongpob picks up his phone to check on something without further elaborating. I looked at Nina at the other corner of the restaurant, and I can't help but think they looked good together.
The food came, and it was pretty good overall. Kongpob says my french toast is better, but I think it's pretty good here too. And of course Kongpob ate like a third of my french toast. I sampled his eggs Benedict, and that was really good too. It's really all about the hollandaise sauce though. Theirs was perfectly balanced between the buttery and lemony taste. The sauce is so good, I want to mop the rest of it with some plain toast, but I must restrain myself. I'm already full.
"Arthit, I'm so full. I don't know if I will be able to fit into my clothes later."
Kongpob rubs his imaginary belly that I know is harder than a washboard from just holding it earlier.
"You will be fine. Besides, you're just going to change back to a pair of sweatpants later anyway. If I've learned anything about you in the past two weeks at all, it's the fact that you don't like shirts."
"Haha... I really don't. I have to wear all these layers everyday at work already, so I like to be free when I'm at home. Nobody usually gets to see this side of me. You are the exception."
"Am I?" Seriously, am I?
"Well, I still have to go somewhere after this, and it requires me to be fit."
"Oh, what are you doing?"
"I need to go for a fitting, and a photoshoot for this season."
"Huh? You're a model?"
Kongpob chuckles.
"Somewhat I guess. Remember, I told you I own a partnership of a fashion house? My partner makes me model for the catalog every season, and makes a complete season's wardrobe for me to wear. She says it's good advertisement, and it shows that I support my own brand."
"Ah, that makes sense. When are you going?"
"It's at 3pm. What are you doing today? If you don't have anything to do, you should come with me."
"It sounds interesting. Are you sure it's okay for me to tag along?"
"I am the boss. So, it's more than okay."
I picked up the tab even though Kongpob insisted he pay. I told him since I didn't get to cook, then I should get to pay for the meal. He reluctantly agreed.
Right before we left, Nina met us by the door. She gave Kongpob a tight hug, and a peck on the cheek. And what surprised me was that she came over, and gave me a tight hug too.
"It was nice to meet you Arthit. Thank you for keeping my sweetie fed."
She pulls away, and gives me a warm smile.
I acknowledge that I'm slightly jealous of her closeness with Kongpob, but I can't help but like her too.
