Chapter 119

Knock. Knock.

"Hey, are you ready to go?" Arthit takes a step inside of Kongpob's office.

"Yeah, let me just finish up this email." Kongpob continues typing without looking up.

"Hey, I forgot to tell Sachi to pick up some more frozen yogurt for Kamron. Let's swing by a grocery store before we head home."

"Sure, but my mom will pick up Kamron tomorrow. So if it can wait, then maybe I can just tell my mom to restock it at her house." Kongpob says while he closes out of his computer. He completely misses the strange gloom he has bestowed upon his boyfriend.

"Oh, Sonya is back?" Arthit didn't even realize it's been a month already since Sonya has been gone. Oh, then that means he probably shouldn't have ordered that cute galaxy night light. Maybe he'll just take it over to Sonya's house when it arrives.

The ride home was pretty quiet with Arthit staring out the window and Kongpob busy on his laptop. He had nothing particular on his mind, just random thoughts about his past and how much has changed in the course of a year. His mind drifts here and there until he suddenly feels Kongpob lay his head on his shoulder with his eyes closed. Kongpob has finally started relaxing a bit after that subcontractor company that caused the SuSus accident officially made a public statement and apologized for breaking their contractual agreement. That company's contract has also been officially terminated.

The media has now changed their tone completely to praising Suth Enterprise for their handling of the unethical practice of abusing illegal immigrant workers. The media has even managed to find out that Kongpob has taken in the child of the victim and now he's praised as a compassionate philanthropist on top of being the number one bachelor. Kongpob didn't care much about what the media said or wrote about him but he had to prevent them from exposing little Kamron's privacy. Funny how the paparazzi changes so quickly.

Arthit lays his head on top of Kongpob's, "Hey, are you okay? Hmm?"

"Mmm....you know you can tell me anything, right?"

"Of course I do." Arthit smiles in content. What more can he ask for? His boyfriend juggles a million things daily but he never fails to make sure Arthit knows he's important to him and he's there for him.

"Dinner is ready! Wash your hands and come eat!" Arthit announces loud enough so Kongpob and Kamron can hear him over the loud piano challenge that's going on between the two. Kongpob would usually play three or four notes from one end of the piano and Kamron would have to find and play the same notes on the other end of the piano. Kamron on the other hand would play random notes all over the piano and Kongpob would have to repeat the exact same notes. The two can play on and on without stopping while Popeye howls like a backup singer the whole time.

Arthit brings the last dish over to the dining table just to discover a dish completely emptied. Where did all his fried prawns go? Did Popeye eat them? Oh no, what if he gets sick? "Kongpob, I think Popeye ate all the fried prawns? Should we take him to the doc...."

Arthit's words die off when Kongpob and Kamron both turn around sheepishly grinning with prawns sticking out of their mouths. Arthit didn't know if he should laugh at how comical the two looked or scold them for the bad behavior, especially Mr. Kongpob Suthilak who's setting bad examples.

"Sorry, but we were hungry and the prawns looked so good," Kongpob said while Kamron nods in agreement.

Arthit sighs and shakes his head. What is he supposed to do with these two? "Okay, go wash your hands and come eat."

"Uncle Kong, I'll race you."

"You'll lose for sure. You can't even reach the sink to wash your hands."

"No fair!"

"Okay, now you're nice and clean. Kam, where are your pajamas?" Arthit looks around the walk-in closet in Kamron's room and he notices Kamron's few outfits and pajamas are gone.

Little Kamron who's butt naked comes running into the closet and points to the duffle bag in the corner of his room. "Maybe they're inside that bag. Auntie Sachi was putting my clothes in there today. She says Auntie Sonya will pick me up tomorrow."

"Oh." Arthit feels a squeeze to his heart. That's right. Kamron is leaving tomorrow. He proceeds to open the duffle bag that's barely even half-full with only about five little outfits and two pairs of shoes. Popeye's chew toys alone can probably take up a whole closet if Sachi didn't keep throwing out the old ones. "Okay, let's put something on before you catch a cold."

"Uncle Kong, says you don't get a cold from being cold. You get a cold when a cold virus catches you. I remember he said that to you last time when you asked him to put on a shirt."

"So do you intend to stay naked?" Arthit raises an eyebrow at little Kamron. See, Kongpob keeps setting bad examples.

"No. I want to have clothes on if the cold virus tries to catch me."

Arthit can only chuckle and help Kamron get dressed.

Kongpob walks inside their bedroom that has the lights dimmed to the lowest and the glass ceiling showing a few stars above them. His boyfriend is just laying in bed staring at the sky blankly. Arthit rarely does that since he practically falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow. The novelty of Kongpob's transreflective glass ceiling has long worn off ages ago. The only mode that gets Arthit excited these days is the mirror mode and that's for an entirely different reason.

Kongpob takes his pants and boxers off and climbs in bed. He wraps an arm around Arthit's waist and places a kiss on his shoulder. "Hey, aren't you tired?"

"Just a little. I can switch the glass if you want."

"No. It's okay. Just let it switch on its own. Is something bothering you?"

"No. Let's go to sleep. Goodnight." Arthit gives Kongpob a kiss and then turns to sleep on his side.

"Goodnight." Kongpob half-heartedly smiled. He knows what's bothering Arthit more or less but he doesn't want to force Arthit to choose or do anything he's not ready for.

"Kam, please finish your eggs." Kongpob taps the side of Kamron's plate with his fork. Kamron is too busy giggling and playing with Popeye who's trying to pull his socks off under the table to focus on his breakfast.

"Kongpob, do you want any more sausages?" Arthit brings over a small plate of sausages with some fried garlic on top. "Kam, just finish the eggs and you can go play."

Kamron nods and quickly shoves a big spoonful of scrambled eggs into his mouth. He quickly swallows and shoves the last spoonful into his mouth before jumping out of his seat to go play.

Kongpob forks a piece of sausage with a smile and feeds Arthit who's still shaking his head.

"Hello! Good Morning everyone." Sachi greets everyone as she steps inside the house.

"Good morning, Sachi," Arthit says while he's slightly confused why Sachi is here on a Saturday.

"Good morning, now what are you doing here?" Kongpob cuts to the chase with a smirk.

"I see I'm not welcomed here." Sachi turns her nose up and steals a piece of sausage off Kongpob's plate. "Well, don't worry. I'll be out of your way in a minute. Madam asked me to come to pick Kamron up so you two can have some privacy. So you should really be thanking me."

"So early?" Arthit knew Kamron was leaving today but he didn't expect it to be this early. He thought they could at least spend today together and then maybe they can drop off Kamron later or even tomorrow since it'll be Sunday.

"Oh, Madam wants to take Kamron shopping, so she wants me to pick him up earlier. Now, you guys can go back to being bunnies." Sachi steals another piece of sausage from Kongpob's plate.

"Hey! Why do you have to steal from my plate? Make yourself a plate if you're hungry." Kongpob protests.

"I don't want another plate. Food from your plate tastes better." Sachi sticks her tongue out at Kongpob. They've been doing this all their lives. "Come on, Kam. Let's go." Sachi heads to Kamron's room to get the duffle bag.

Kongpob looks at Arthit who has his head down pushing his eggs and sausages around with his fork and spoon.

"So it seems like we have the whole day together just the two of us. Why don't we take Red out for a spin? We haven't done that in a while."

"Sure. That would be nice."

Arthit switches the ceiling back to transparent glass once Kongpob has fallen asleep. The moon is still beaming up high in the sky. Today was a nice day. They had a nice time as always. Kongpob was perfect in every way.

They had strolled around the same small town on the outskirts of Bangkok and ate from the food carts like the last time they visited. Arthit suggested that maybe next time they can bring Kamron here to see the street performers. He thinks Kamron would like that. While Kongpob suggests bringing Kamron to one of the floating markets in Bangkok next time. He's actually never been to one despite floating markets being a popular tourist attraction. As a child, he wasn't allowed to go to crowded places like those, and as an adult, he just never made it a priority to see it since he's usually too busy.

Later in the day, Kongpob took Arthit to the other side of Wat Arun to see the sunset from a rooftop bar. There they enjoyed a nice romantic dinner together and then they stopped by the fresh market to get mango pudding. It's been a while since they've had time for their favorite dessert. Mae Yui teased and reprimanded them for not visiting her for so long. Another funny thing was Mae Yui had kept a copy of the OK! Magazine featuring them at her stall. Apparently, she had been telling all her friends and other vendors in the market that she knew the celebrities on the cover. Arthit was so embarrassed that he was pretty much as red as the tomatoes Mae Yui was selling and he tried to hide behind Kongpob the whole time.

And then on their way back, Kongpob kept groping and teasing him at every stop while he was driving Red. It was so hard to concentrate and his own heavy breathing kept fogging up his helmet. Arthit couldn't get home fast enough. By the time they pulled into the garage, they were both as hard as a rod, and Kongpob finally fucked him from behind on Red like he promised time and time again. Then Arthit took his turn bending Kongpob over the top of that damn Ferrari's hood. They were so far gone that they didn't even care that there were cameras in the garage. It really was a fun and exciting day.

Yet, Arthit can't sleep. After a long day filled with such vigorous activities, Arthit is still wide awake. Even Popeye is snoring away but sleep is nowhere to be found for him. Despite having a wonderful day with Kongpob, Arthit keeps thinking about little Kamron. Maybe they should go over to Sonya's house earlier tomorrow to make sure Kamron is adjusting well. After all, Kamron hasn't seen Sonya in over a month, he might revert back to being silent. Yeah, they should go right after breakfast. Then he wonders if Sonya had read Kamron a bedtime story tonight. Kamron likes superhero stories and not fairy tales. Arthit doesn't know if Sachi remembered to pack the set of superhero books he had bought for Kamron. The more Arthit thinks about it, the more he can't stay still in bed.

Finally, the question nagged him too much. Arthit quietly gets out of bed and leaves their bedroom. He walks down the hallway, all the way to the other end of the house to the room where Kamron stayed. He flicks on the room light and there it is. The set of books Arthit had bought sat neatly on the shelf. Sachi had in fact forgotten to pack the set of books. So he must bring these books over tomorrow. Arthit takes the books and places them on top of the kitchen counter to make sure he won't forget to bring them tomorrow. Then he quietly gets back into bed, he switches the ceiling back to opaque, and he tries to go to sleep again.

"Arthit, don't you think that looks ready?" Kongpob says as he passes by Arthit to get to the coffee maker. He needs to make the perfect cup of coffee for Arthit today.

"Oh shoot!" Arthit quickly switches the heat off the stove. "I'm sorry, Kongpob. I think I'm going to have to start over. These are too burnt." Arthit puffs at wasting food and internally chides himself for being careless.

"No, they're fine. They're not burnt. Just toasty." Kongpob kisses Arthit's cheek and takes the spatula out of Arthit's hand. He plates the French toast on two plates and dresses them, then he brings them over to the counter. They're not as perfect as usual but they're really not that bad. But before they eat, they should probably have a talk.

"No, Kongpob. It's not good to eat burnt food. I can make a new batch really quick." Arthit takes out the loaf of bread again.

Kongpob turns around and takes the loaf of bread out of Arthit's hand. He places the bread on the counter and pulls Arthit in for a hug. "The toasts are fine. So, are you ready to talk to me?"

Resting his chin on Kongpob's shoulder, Arthit holds onto Kongpob tighter. He doesn't know if Kongpob feels the same as he does about Kamron. The last time they talked about Kamron's adoption, Kongpob also said he wasn't sure he was ready yet. But now after spending time with Kamron and getting to know him, Arthit really likes little Kamron. He missed him all day and night yesterday. He even briefly thought about adopting Kamron on his own if Kongpob isn't ready but wouldn't that be the same if they're together.

What if Kongpob would rather break up with him than to adopt little Kamron? Arthit really tried to give up on the idea but then he can't help but feel like he's abandoning Kamron and what if Kongpob ends up sending Kamron away? What if Kongpob finds Kamron a nice family that's far away and he'll never get to see Kamron again? What if?! All these questions plagued Arthit all night long.

"Kongpob, can we keep Kamron? I promise to take full responsibility for him. I don't know if I'll be a good enough father but I want to try."

Kongpob tries to pull away from their hug but Arthit wouldn't let go so he relents and stays in their hugging position. "Do you really like him that much? It's a big commitment, you know?"

"I know it's a big commitment and I hope you will do it with me."

"What would you do if I don't agree? Would you leave me?" Kongpob asks. He can't believe Arthit would even think he wouldn't support him.

"Of course not. I love you too much. But would you break up with me if I insist on keeping Kamron?"

What? How can Arthit even ask such a question? This time, Kongpob successfully pulls away from Arthit to look him in the eyes. Arthit gives him a sad face with a little pout. Kongpob has no choice but to pull Arthit back in to continue their hug. "Arthit, I want to adopt Kamron too. I was actually planning to ask you today. I have given it a lot of thought lately and I think we can manage it. And I mean 'we.' I think we can be good parents together."

"Really?" Arthit excitedly pulls away first from their hug this time. "You're really planning to adopt Kamron?"

"No, not me. I said 'we' can be good parents together. Let's adopt him together," Kongpob says sincerely looking at Arthit.

Arthit immediately kisses Kongpob on the lips and hugs him tightly again. "Kongpob, I love you so much."

"I love you too. Here, have some coffee." Kongpob reaches for the cup of coffee on the counter behind Arthit.

"Oh, thank you. I really do need coffee today. I barely slept last night thinking about all of this." Arthit takes the cup of coffee in his hand for a sip. Ahh....Kongpob's coffee is the best. So good. So well balanced. So perfect. Just like his boyfriend. Arthit smiles into his cup as he takes another sip. Eh....what's this?

On the side of Arthit's coffee cup says, "Good Morning Beautiful." Arthit blushes and looks up at Kongpob who's beaming his megawatt smile at him while sipping on his own cup of coffee. "Where did you get this cup, Kongpob? I've never seen it." Arthit mumbles shyly.

"Oh, I had it specially made. Alexa helped me with it," Kongpob says proudly.

"You're so silly. So much trouble just to tease me." Arthit smiles and takes another big sip. He's secretly so happy he's about to burst. All of yesterday's worrying was for nothing but he's not complaining. He has the best boyfriend in the world and they're about to adopt Kamron. Eh....what's this?

There's something at the bottom of his coffee cup. Arthit curiously drinks the last sip and then quickly pulls the cup away from his face to see what's at the bottom. Arthit gasps. Oh my God! Is this for real? He can't believe what he's looking at. Because at the bottom of his cup says, "will you marry me?"

Arthit looks back at his boyfriend and Kongpob is on a bended knee with Popeye in his arms, and on top of Popeye's head is a red Cartier box with two matching silver rings.

Woof.

"Kongpob!" Arthit places a hand over his mouth in shock.

Kongpob takes the ring box off of Popeye and lets him down with a kiss to his head.

"Arthit, I love you. My world is no longer just black and white, but it's now full of color because of you. You bring out a different kind of me. You gave me a taste of love and now I can't live without it. You gave me a wonderful year and now I want the rest. Be mine and I'll be yours forever. Will you marry me?"

Arthit can't believe this is really happening. His eyes are misty looking at Kongpob's eyes that are full of love staring back at him. This man who came into his life like a knight in shining armor wants to be his forever.

Kongpob smiles and grabs Arthit's hand. He doesn't say another word or tries to rush him in any way. He knows Arthit is just overwhelmed at the moment.

Arthit kneels down to the ground to meet Kongpob eye to eye. He hesitantly asks, "Kongpob, are you sure? Is this because of Kamron?"

"Of course not, Tiger. I actually wanted to do this on our one year anniversary. I wanted it to be perfect with music, flowers, and fireworks. But things kept getting in the way of my planning. And then the accident at SuSus happened. I'm sorry this isn't the most romantic proposal but I can't wait for the perfect moment any longer."

"No, this is perfect. You're perfect. I don't want any of that stuff. I just want you." Arthit smiles, wiping the tears that are threatening to fall from his eyes with his hand, before he wraps his arms around Kongpob's neck for a tight hug. Arthit's body trembles with excitement and his heart beats loudly against Kongpob's chest. Oh dear God, Kongpob is proposing. This is really happening.

"So, what do you say? Or should I start eating the French toast on the ground and give you some more time? I'm fine with that too, you know?" Kongpob kisses and nuzzles against the side of Arthit's neck.

Arthit chuckles, "Yes, Kongpob! I say yes! I love you so much."

"I love you too."

~~~~~~
AN: Sweets, I finally did it. I've got them engaged. 🥳
I'm happy for them and I hope you are too. I know the proposal wasn't some cinematic grand gesture but it's how I envisioned it. Sweet and simple, the way Arthit likes it. 🥰
Curtsy,
Lana ❤️
