Chapter 107
Chet's head pounds as he tries to peel his heavy eyelids open. Why did he feel this way? He hasn't gone drinking. Why is it so windy and noisy? Something's not right. He successfully manages to open his eyes only to wish he hadn't. Because the moment his eyes open is the moment panic hits him hard. He is facing down, staring at a body of water from some thousands of feet above. Half his body is hanging out of a helicopter. He tries to move, but he realizes that his hands and feet are tied. Holy fucking shit!
"Ahhhhh....Help!!!!" Chet hollers as loud as possible.
All of a sudden someone grabs him from behind, and tosses him to the ground of the aircraft. Chet tries to catch his breath, and make sense of what's going on. God, did he wet his pants? A pair of headphones is immediately placed over his ears. He looks up, and a man dressed in a black suit with sunglasses stands in front of him with his arms crossed.
"Where am I? Who are you?" Chet asks, half hollering.
The man in black steps aside to reveal a handsome man dressed in a polished silver grey suit sitting there with his legs crossed, showcasing his fine Italian leather shoes.
Chet immediately recognizes the man. It's his ex's new boyfriend. What does he want with him?
"Hello Chet. I presume you already know who I am, but I must not be so arrogant and lose my manners. I'm Kongpob Suthilak, and I'm not pleased to meet you at all."
"Why am I here? You can't keep me here. Let me go!"
"Now now, I must correct you. I can keep you here, and for as long as I want. I can make you disappear like you've never existed. I can guarantee no one will miss you." Kongpob smirks, and crooks his index finger, beckoning Chet to come closer.
Chet doesn't know why, but he does as he is told. He hesitantly moves closer even though he's afraid. "What do you want from me? I haven't done anything. Please let me go."
"You see, I'm a very private person, and so is my boyfriend. And I've heard that you're planning to give an interview about my boyfriend, and that doesn't make me very happy."
"Mr. Suthilak, there must be a misunderstanding. I haven't agreed to any of the offers."
"Mmm... that's just because you're waiting for a better offer to come up. Arthit really doesn't like unnecessary attention and unnecessary people in his life. And you happen to be one of those unnecessary people I just mentioned."
"I promise I won't give an interview if you let me go. Please! I promise. I swear." Chet pleads. He will say whatever he needs to say. He just wants to get out of here alive. Fear starts to seep through his pores as Kongpob gives him a cold smile. It looks nothing like the smiles he saw in magazines.
"I'm a firm believer that only dead people can stay silent." Kongpob looks up to Thak, and tips his chin.
Thak nods, and takes the headphones off of Chet. He then grabs Chet from the back, and picks him up like he's a rag doll.
Chet looks around, and turns back to Kongpob. "Please, I beg you. Please."
Kongpob stands up, and walks closer to Chet. He gets a better look at him up close. Chet looks decent he suppose, but too bad. Too too bad. He grabs Chet by his collar, and pulls his right fist back. He throws a solid punch to Chet's left eye. "That's for taking advantage of Arthit all these years, and being an asshole boyfriend." Kongpob snarls, and pulls his fist back. He strikes again, and this time his fist reconnects across Chet's jaw. "This one is for Popeye, and being the shitiest human being."
"Ouuuuu..." Chet groans, trying to touch his burning face to the side of his arm.
"Get rid of him." Kongpob straightens his suit, and sits back down.
As Chet winces and groans in pain, he didn't register what Kongpob had just said, but then he feels his feet leave the ground. "Ahhh...what are you doing? Let me down. Please!" Chet yells and tries to struggle, and tries to touch the ground, but with his tied feet, there's not much he can do. Tears start streaming down his face. He pleads and looks to Kongpob who was looking at his phone instead, not even sparing him another glance. Thak walks Chet back to the helicopter's opened door.
"No!!!! Please!!!! No!!!!" Chet screams at the top of his lungs, but his pleas are futile and falls upon deaf ears. And just like that, with a shove behind his back he is sent flying in the air.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...ooph." Chet's heart is beating so hard that it's about to explode out of his chest. If he didn't pee his pants before, he has definitely peed his pants now. What the fuck! His body is hovering over some hundreds of feet above the water. Where the hell is he? There's no land to be seen. But it doesn't matter. He's alive! Fuck! Yes! He looks at his chest, and apparently he has on a harness. How did he not notice it before?
Shit! The helicopter starts moving, and he is lifted back up higher in the air. He stayed this way for a while, hanging in the air as the aircraft made its way back to land.
Chet didn't dare to move too much, fearing that whatever rope that's holding him would snap if he did. He can't even holler if he wants to anymore as he has lost his voice at this point. After God knows how long, finally he sees land on the horizon. Soon, he is pulled back up into the aircraft. The same man pulls him inside, and tosses him back to the ground he was on before. Chet's whole body trembles, and his heart is pounding loudly again. He wants to kiss the ground of the aircraft if he can, but his hands are still tied, so that's not an option at the moment. Headphones are once again placed over his ears. Chet looks up, and meets Kongpob's eyes.
Kongpob smirks looking back at Chet. "Welcome back. Here's your second chance in life. Now, don't go squandering it. If you say another word about Arthit, I'm going to feed you to the sharks. That's a promise. Don't ever let me see you again."
Chet nods vigorously. He will never say anything again. Ever.
Kongpob takes off his own headphones, and walks towards the exit. He turns back around to look at Chet who quickly backs away further. "By the way, you did great on that bridge jumping scene in Phuket. It's my favorite of all your work. But Arthit likes the one where you jumped off the ninth floor the most. We had them on repeat for many times. But I think that should be the end of your acting career. Get a real job."
~~~~~~
Knock. Knock. Knock.
"Hey, are you ready to go yet, Tiger?"
Arthit quickly stands up upon hearing Kongpob's voice. He panics for a second, and tries to look behind Kongpob to see if anyone is still outside. Kongpob has never come downstairs to his office like this.
"Don't worry. There's no one here. Luke checked before I came down. Besides, it's not a secret anymore." Kongpob steps inside Arthit's office for the first time. The magazine and the Entertainment Tonight special had already aired six hours ago. By now, the news and all social media should have already recirculated clips of the special thousands of times over if not more.
"I'm sorry. It's just my natural reaction." Arthit feels bad for reacting like that, but he still needs a little more time to adjust to everything. Change can't happen in a day, and he hopes Kongpob can understand him.
"It's okay. You don't need to apologize."
Arthit silently watches as Kongpob walks around his office for the first time. He can't tell what Kongpob is thinking, but he notices a slight frown forming on his handsome face. Arthit just realizes how good Kongpob looks in his silver grey suit. He must have been too nervous to notice this morning.
Kongpob scans around Arthit's white office. It's spacious, clean, and mostly empty. There's a total of two very generic photos of high-rises hung on the walls. He presumes BKK Engineering took part in those two high-rises. Beyond that, there's no trace of personality to the space. If you take away Arthit's name plate, no one would be able to tell he was ever even here. Kongpob didn't like that feeling. He walks around Arthit's desk, and stands next to Arthit. Then a little smile finally breaks across his face. Sitting on top of Arthit's desk is a picture of them inside the helicopter at Mount Fuji. Their faces are tiny, and the main focal point is mostly the mountain rather than the people in the picture. But Kongpob knows the reason why this picture is on Arthit's desk, and it's enough to warm his heart. Kongpob reaches for the picture.
Arthit immediately grabs Kongpob by his wrist to get a better look at the bruised knuckles. "Kongpob! What happened to your hand? Did you get into a fight? Are you hurt anywhere else?" Arthit tries to spin Kongpob around, but Kongpob stops him.
"It's nothing. I'm fine. Don't worry about it." Kongpob tries to reassure his boyfriend.
"Truth!"
Sigh. "I punched Chet twice, and dropped him out of a helicopter."
"Kongpob! Tell me the truth." Arthit frowns as he grabs Kongpob by his chin, and pushes his face from side to side to see if there's any injuries on his face.
"I'm telling you the truth. I punched him in the eye for you, and I punched him square in the jaw for Popeye. I can't wait to tell Popeye when we get home."
"Really?!?" He stares in Kongpob's eyes, and he knows it's the truth. Then he suddenly gasps, and covers his mouth with his hands. "Oh my God. So, you really dropped him out of a helicopter too?"
Kongpob grins and nods to Arthit's shocked face.
"Oh my God. So, he's dead? Oh my God. Do we need to run away? Oh my God. Where should we hide? Oh my God. What if someone saw you? Oh my God. Who else knows? Oh my God. Why the hell are you laughing?"
"Hahaha... don't worry. He's not dead, and if he wants to stay that way, he won't be talking to anyone about you ever again. Okay?"
Arthit narrows his eyes, and puckers lips together to look angry. But he can't keep himself from smiling so he softly punches Kongpob's chest for scaring him. Kongpob playfully winces in pain covering his heart with his hand. Arthit sees Kongpob's bruised knuckles again, and he feels like the luckiest man alive. He wraps his arms around Kongpob, and hugs him tightly. He prays with all his heart that they can stay this way forever.
"I love you, Arthit."
AN: Sweets, sorry for the late update. But I was too distracted to write, and I didn't like what I wrote the first three times. If you think this is bad, I'm telling you it was way worse before. Hope you still like it though. 😏
Curtsy,
Lana ❤️
