Chapter 9: Elesia

Elesia:

When it was time to leave, I thought we would be leaving in what the humans call a car. Instead, we stepped outside and moved towards a machine with whirring blades moving on top.

"What is this?"

He noticed that I was in awe, because he chuckled. "This is a flying machine called a Helicopter. It can take us places faster than a car."

He took my hand.

"Now, let's get in the helicopter and leave."

I nodded, following him up the helipad. I noticed a man exiting the helicopter and opened the rear doors. He must be the pilot. Afterwards, he grabbed our bags and placed them in compartments aboard the helicopter. He looked at me with a puzzled expression, but he kept his mouth shut and waited on us as we entered the helicopter. I also noticed that he had a smile on his face. Anthony stepped aside and ushered me into the helicopter.

I stepped inside the helicopter and took a seat, waiting for Anthony to enter the helicopter. He got in after me and sat right beside me. As he stepped inside, the pilot stepped up and grabbed the door and closed it. Soon after he got in the pilot seat and closed the door behind. Finally he spoke.

"Well met, Mr. Thompson. How was your very brief vacation?"

He spoke with a voice filled with multiple expressions and sounds: sarcasm, annoyance, and a little bit of curiosity. Anthony replied with a sense of humor.

"Heh, it was interesting. With everything that happened yesterday, it's a miracle we didn't get hit."

The pilot, Mr. Jenkins, chuckled. "Indeed it was. It's a good thing it didn't hit us."

His voice gotten deeper, expression more serious. "I know what you was gonna do last night, Mr. Thompson. It made me almost lose all respect for you if you would have done it, but I'm grateful for that orb of light that cratered near us."

Anthony looked down, a solemn expression on his face. "I know. I know Mr. Jenkins. I had a feeling you knew what I was gonna do when I came here."

He took my hand and squeezed it gently.

"It's a good thing that I didn't go through with it. Let's just say, I have a reason to stay now."

Mr. Jenkins turned around and looked at me, with a smile on his face that puzzled me. Earlier he looked at me confused but now he's smiling.

"I know. I know the reason you have now to stay. I must say that it's beautiful."

Anthony looked astonished as he looked at Mr. Jenkins.

"You know? How?"

"I followed you to the crater. I watched as she appeared from that orb. I never thought I get to see one. A real angel."

I gasped, fear enveloping me. Was he gonna tell people now? What if people found out about me? Mr. Jenkins must've noticed my anxiety, because he took my other hand.

"Don't worry, Elesia. I will never tell anyone your secret. I'm just glad I get to meet an angel. Especially an archangel."

"H-how d-do know of me?" I asked, my voice shaky.

"I'm a religious man. I believe in The Lord and the angels. I knew about the Archangels Michael and Gabriel. And you. Especially you."

Anthony then spoke up, a stern expression on his face.

"How did you know that angels were real? Even if you are a religious man, you still must have doubt."

Mr. Jenkins looked down. I saw a hint of sadness in the eyes behind his shades.

"Let's just say I know more about angels then most. For now, I don't want to talk about it, but maybe one day we will."

I turn towards Anthony and he saw it too. The sadness. He nodded at me.

"Alright, Mr. Jenkins. Because you know of her now, you'll no longer be a pilot when we land in Los Angeles. You be assigned a new job at Celestial Corp. In short, you have another job of helping me with her."

I saw a wide smile appear on Mr. Jenkins's face.

"All right. I'll gladly accept the new job."

He looked at me and nodded. "For now, lady Elesia, you may call me Mike."

"Alright, Mike."

He turned around and took the handle.

"Now, onward towards Los Angeles."

The helicopter flew up, which startled me. Then it flew higher and higher. Once it was high enough, it leaned forward and we flew off on our way to Los Angeles, city of Angels.

~.~.~.~

The trip wasn't long. It actually took us abruptly twenty-three minutes. I looked all around down below us, my eyes alight with wonder and amazement. The forest turned into plains of grass and then turned to buildings. We passed over a group of houses what Anthony called Beverly Hills.

I looked up and saw multiple helicopters flying passed us in the direction we were coming from. I looked towards Anthony.

"They're heading towards the crater to help put out the fires that are still blazing."

I looked down, remembering what happened. I felt a hand grip mine in a gentle embrace.

"Don't worry about it. They'll take care of it."

I nodded, looking out the window. The scenery changed again. Now there was a lot of buildings. Tall buildings, short buildings, buildings of different sizes spread out across the city of Los Angeles. We came across a giant building that had much smaller but still big buildings connected to it. The tall building the center of the group of buildings is the tallest building in Los Angeles. On the side of the tower-size building said Celestial Corp.

I looked at Anthony, an expression of surprise on my face.

"This is Celestial Corp.? It's huge."

He chuckled. "Yes. This is the main corporate office, but we have thousands of offices all over the world."

He points at the giant office. "But this is where we do research and test new technology before we release it. You could say it's the main corporate office and the main research facility all in one."

I continued to stare at the Celestial Corp. main office as we begin our descent.

"This also just happens to be the second largest building in the world. Next the Empire State Building. But ours is much wider."

I nodded, understanding what he said. It's a massive and beautiful building. As beautiful as the man who owns it. I blushed a little just thinking about it. It didn't last long as the sadness in my heart began to overrun my happiness. So I shook my head and stared forward as we began descending lower towards the helipad on top of the western building connected to the tower.

We landed a few minutes later. Mike shut off the engines and exited the helicopter only to open the door for Anthony to exit. Anthony stepped out of the helicopter and offered a hand towards me. I took it and exited the helicopter after him. I look up and kinda shrunk back as I saw the tower. I looked like an ant in front of a human man.

Just then I noticed two people exiting the building, heading towards us. One was a man with blond hair as I recognized as Tony, Anthony's best friend and Sophia's brother. The other one was a woman in a business suit and red hair. Anthony whispered in my ear.

"That's Mrs. Amanda Wilson. She's my assistant."

Tony and Amanda approached us slowly. When Tony saw me, his eyes grew wide. But as quickly as they came, they instantly faded away. I noticed a frown on his face, though he hid it well.

"Welcome back Anthony."

Anthony and Tony hugged each other.

"It's good to be back, though I wish the vacation was longer."

His facial expression grew serious.

"What happened? You said that there were signs of sabotage. How's the investigation?"

"We're looking into it now. We had to clear out that section of the building to get rid of the fire that started. We put out the fire and we're now investigating the damages."

"Do you think it's one of our rivals?"

"It's possible, but we won't know until we do a thorough investagtion."

"Very well."

Anthony looked at me. His serious expression faded softly. He looked calm now. He motioned towards me and spoke.

"This is Elesia. I found her in woods near my vacation home. She looked lost and confused, I decided to take her in for the time being. She'll be staying here for a while."

I noticed he was lying. I knew that he had to. If they found out about me, it wouldn't be good. Tony lend out his hand I took it. He shook it slightly.

"Nice to meet you." His tone was slightly off. As though he's hiding something. " I'm Tony."

Amanda lend out her hand and it shook it too. "I'm Mrs. Wilson, though you can call me Amanda."

Tony caught my attention as he spoke. I can tell instantly that it's not friendly, though he hid it very well.

"Is that true Anthony? I think there's more to the story about Elesia."

'Can't fool him so easily.' I thought.

"You're right. There's more. I'll tell you more some other time. Not now."

I looked at him with a look of concern and worry. He gave me a comforting look. As to say, 'don't worry. I won't tell him about what you are'. I knew he would never tell anyone willing unless I say so.

He motioned towards Mike. "Mike Jenkins will be taken off helicopter duty. For the time being, he'll be a caretaker for Elesia and put on the board."

Tony nods, though had a suspicious look on his face. "Very well."

He turns towards Amanda. "Take her to my office." He turns toward Mike. "You go with them."

Mike nods.

"Follow me, Mrs. Elesia." Amanda said, motioning toward the glass doors.

I looked at Anthony, unsure if I should follow.

"Go with her. I'll see you soon."

I nodded. I followed her as Mike followed me through the glass doors. We head for what they called an elevator and began our ascent to the top of tower. As the elevator stopped on the top floor, I exited the elevator. I followed Amanda to a door that said in broad letters 'Anthony Thompson's office.'. She open the door and I gasped.

It was huge. It had a huge desk in the back. Behind it was a set of doors that leads to a balcony. To the left was a small makeshift library of sorts. To the right was a set couches and a large flat screen tv. Anthony's office takes up half the top floor.

"Mr. Thompson requested that you stay here until he returns."

I nodded as she left the office.

Mike spoke as he sat on one of the couches. "I guess we'll just have to wait."

"I guess so."

I sat on the couch and watched as he grabbed the remote and turned on the tv.

'I guess I have to wait.' I thought. I then nodded to myself. 'And so I will.'

They returned from a brief trip. What is Mike hiding? What's wrong with Tony? Find out next time. Don't forget to vote and comment.
