Chapter 7: Elesia

Elesia:

It's morning when I awoken. Well, I think it's morning when I woke up. In heaven, since it's always bright, we could never tell if it's nighttime or daytime. On Earth, it's easier to figure it out. Night is when it's dark out and daytime is when the sun is out or if there is light in the sky.

Except there was no sunshine or blue skies. You couldn't even see the sky. It was full of smoke. I wondered why there was so much smoke, until I looked towards the direction the large cloud of smoke was coming from. There was a tinge of red over the tree lines in the distance. It didn't take me long to realize what it was.

The woods there were on fire. It took me a few seconds to realize that I was the cause of that fire. The reason that the trees are burning. The reason the animals are suffering. It was always me.

But it's nothing new. Everything that happened was because of me. The destruction, the pain, the death. All of it. It was all my fault.

I closed my eyes as tears began falling. I heard a knock on the door, which startled me. I hastily turned around as the door opened.

"Good Morning, Elesia. How did you sleep?" Anthony asked as he entered the room.

I turned around and he frozed. A new expression appeared on his face. A concerned expression.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing. I slept fine. Thank you." I said while wiping the tears from my eyes. He stepped forward and walked towards me as I turned around and faced the window again.

He stopped a few feet from behind me.

"You're far from fine. What's wrong, Elesia?"

There was no anger in his voice. Only concern. Concern for her. He looked on at what I was looking at and sighed. He step closer and wrapped his arms around me gently, which caught me by surprise.

"Let me guess. You blame yourself for the destruction your fall has caused to the land and the woods, aren't you?"

I looked down, tears falling once again. He knew why I was crying just by looking at the fire in the woods. I nodded shakingly.

"Yes. You're correct. B-but it's more than that. Please don't ask me about it. Please."

He sighed again and his hug got a little tighter before letting go. I turned around and saw him smiling slightly.

"Alright. I won't force you tell me what's wrong or what happened. You can tell me when you're ready."

His eyes tensed up and the concern look came back. "Remember this though, Elesia. Don't let the pain and emotion haunt you or take you over. Trust me when I say this. I almost let my emotions make me do something horrible."

He closed his eyes and I saw tears falling down them.

"Don't let your emotions control you. Don't let it make you do something you'll forever regret."

He wiped away his tears and looked at me with a very gentle smile. I can feel his emotion inside. I sensed sadness, but I could almost sensed a stronger emotion, though I don't know what it is. Next to that emotion I sense care. For me.

I watched as he lift his right hand and took mine. I gasped as he leaned forward and kissed my hand, sending a tingling feeling throughout me. He stood back up tall and straight and smiled.

"I will be here to help you whenever I can and however I can. I will do whatever it takes to make you happy again. I promise you this."

He let go of my hand stepped back. I was stunned for at least a mine before speaking. With my other hand I reached up and touched the hand he kissed. I looked down and closed my eyes.

He cares about me. He wants to help me. He wants to make me happy. I smiled.

"You're a kind man, Anthony. No matter how strict you pretend to be, you'll always be a gentle and kind man. Thank you. For being here for me. Maybe one day I will tell you what happened. For now though, be patient. I will tell you when I'm ready."

He sighed in relief as his smile widened. "I will be patient whenever you're ready, I'll be here for you."

I looked up and smiled. "Thank you."

"You're welcome."

He held out his right hand. "Come. Breakfast is ready."

I placed my hand in his. "Alright."

He gently pulled me along and I followed him downstairs and into the kitchen. When we walked in, my eyes flew widened.

"That's a lot of food."

There was enough food for four people. There was all kinds of food I never tasted or even seen before. My mouth began to water. He looked at me and began laughing.

"I know it's a lot but compared to what you are last night, you looked to be hungry. So I decided to make you enough for you to be full till lunchtime."

He waved his hand over the food. "There's bacon, eggs, grits, hash brown, sausage patties and links, pancakes and syrup, toast and biscuits and gravy. Let's eat."

And so we did. We ate so much, I felt like my stomach was gonna burst. It was all good. I ate a lot more than Anthony. The bacon was crunchy and the pancakes with syrup was great except it was sticky. The sausages were juicy and delicious. I took a napkin and wiped my face.

"This was all delicious. Thank you."

"You're welcome."

He stood up and held out his hand.

"Come join me in the living room."

I took his hand. "Alright."

I stood up and followed him into the living room. The living room was large. There was a huge flat screen HD Tv to the left of the living room, surround by two couches and a chair. In the back of the living room was a fire place with a red chair situated in front of it. To the left was a wall of glass from ceiling to floor, leading outside.

He walked towards the tv and grab a stick with button, which seems to control the tv. He turned it on and began watching the news. What caught caught my attention was the glass cased cabinet to the right of the fireplace. I walked over and looked behind the glass.

Behind the glass was a bunch of pictures. Anthony was in most of them. Some looked like family members. Most of them have him with a woman. A woman I knew. The woman that die in his arms. The woman who's in heaven now, watching over him.

"Sophia." I whispered.

I opened the cased and reached inside and grabbed a picture from one of the shelves and looked at closely. It was a picture of a younger Anthony and Sophia and a teenage boy who has the same hair color as Sophia. Anthony and the boy had no shirt on and surrounded a younger Sophia who wore little clothing. They looked to be at a beach, though I'm not sure which one. They were smiling and having a good time.

A steady voice startled me as Anthony spoke from behind.

"That's me and Sophia and her older brother Tony when we were younger."

"You guys look like you were having fun." I said.

"It was the best day of my life. It was the day I got my first kiss and the girl I always loved became my girlfriend. Tony was all for it. He approved of me dying his sister."

He stepped forward and took the picture out of my hand and placed it back on the shelf and closed the case.

He stepped away from me and stopped.

"Tony has always been a friend. He was there for me through that incident that took Sophia from me. He was there when I needed it. But he has been distant lately. I wouldn't be surprised if he blames me. But he never not showed up if I needed it."

I saw him shaking slightly. I walk up from behind and took his hand.

"Are you okay?" I asked gently.

"I'll be fine. I still miss her. However, I have a new reason to live now."

He looked at me with a smile. "And that's you. I have a promise to keep. I will take care of you and teach you the ways of the world."

He readjusted his grip and pulled me along. "Let's watch the news first. Then I'll teach you how to read and write."

"Alright." I said as we both sat on the couch and watched news.

Awwwww. So emotional. Makes you want to cry. What will happen next time. Find out next time. Don't forget to comment and vote.
