Ashley sat at a grey lunch table near the outskirts of the mess hall.
She gave a blank stare at the 'food' that they put on her tray.
"Hey sad sap!" A girl chirped as she slid in the seat besides her.
"I have a name you know, a name I've told you to call me many times" Ashley muttered while poking at her food.
Mia rolled her eyes with a soft huff "well I think the name suits you, especially since I haven't seen you smile once since you got here" she said while crossing her arms with a small pout
"I don't know how to smile"
"That's a lie"
"Well I don't know how to smile here, it sucks in here"
Mia rolled her eyes once again before placing her fingers at the corners of her mouth and lifting them up "see, it's that easy" she said with a grin.
Ashley stared at her with a blank stare "I don't thin you understand what I'm saying" she mumbled while stabbing her fork in the mush they gave them.
Mia held her hands up in surrender "okay okay, I'll call you ash then. Even though sad sap still suits you-"
"it's better than sad sap"
"-anyway I almost forgot what I was gonna tell you! Some newbies are coming!" Mia shouted with a bright smile which caused a few questionable glances to head towards them, though this didn't affect her excitement in the slightest.
Ashley shrugged a bit before pushing her tray away.
"Yeah and? We get new people all the time, not really a good thing to be happy about if you tell me" she said while tapping her fingers against the table.
Mia's smile faltered a bit before getting bigger than it was before, "well still, new people, empty cell across from ours. We'll have some new neighbors!"
"Unless they're ten, or up"
"You wonder why I call you a sad sap"
Before Ashley could snap at her a group of guards walked through the mess hall with a group of kids following behind them with their hands tied in front of them.
"Well there you go Mia, it looks like there's some kids our age" Ashley said while watching them pass by.
"Well we got some new neighbors and I was right!" She said smugly while crossing her arms with a small smirk.
Ashley rolled her eyes a bit before standing up and and dusted herself off
"Where are you going?" Mia asked with a slight frown.
"My room, I don't really like eating the stuff they give out unless I'm really hungry so there's no point in me staying her" she said before walking out of the mess hall and down the hall.
As she was walking she caught a glympse of someone being dragged into a room.
She always wondered what was behind that door, she was close to seeing what was behind there to.
But she got caught and wasn't allowed food for a week, along with this they gave her a large gash on her back.
Ashley gripped onto her shirt gently before continuing down the hall and to her cell.
"Hey!"
Ashley turned towards the voice with a raised eyebrow.
There stood two girls, one older than the other.
The oldest of the two had light brown skin, dark brown hair and a look of mischief written all across her face.
While the other had pale skin and black hair, they looked to have a Chinese background but she'll have to ask about it later.
"Are you just gonna stare at us all day or are you gonna introduce yourself?" The taller of the two asked.
"I don't have to introduce myself if you didn't" Ashley muttered before walking I to her cell and closing the door behind her.
"Rude" the brunette mumbled as she crossed her arms, the ravenette only peaked out from behind her and stared at the cell across from theirs in wonder
"Maybe new friend" she whispered while glancing up at her.
The taller girl glanced down at her "we're gonna have to work on your speaking".
