Declaration and Debut

(Only true fans will understand the meme. And I know they will laugh. You're welcome.

I have so little motivation but here we go!)

--------------------------------------------------------

~~~Previously~~~
A Nomu had escaped being beaten by a hero and was speeding towards the group. "GET DOWN!" Hawks yelled, snapping Izuku out of his thoughts. But it was too late, the winged Nomu latched its claws into Izuku's shoulders, and blasted off into the sky.
"IZUKU!"
~~~Present~~~

(Izuku POV)

The clawed feet of the Nomu was digging deep into my flesh. 'I can't move my arms, but my legs are still fine, which leaves me with options. I can burn it with my fire, but this thing doesn't seem to have a soul so magic attacks might not work on this... but didn't my knife work on the USJ Nomu? So that means pure SOUL magic is the way to go. I can summon my shoes to attack it, or I can summon a shield to stop it. But with the current situation, I have a chance of missing both of those and I don't have much energy right now after that fight with Stain. So that leaves... Capture!'

"ASRIEL! PLATFORMS ON MY COMMAND!" I screamed out. I summoned PERSEVERANCE once more and wrapped it in purple strings. Willing it to tighten, the strings followed my command and wrapped the winged creature in a suffocating cacoon of magic. The loss of its ability to fly caused us to freefall. With a strong, unboosted, kick to the shin, it let me go. "NOW!" I yelled, bending my knees to brace for impact. A bright white star materialized beneath me and I landed with a roll, jumping off and onto the next platform. With one final jump, I safely made it to the ground, Nomu still bound tightly beneath me.

"Thanks, Azzy. Great work," I praised. "Mind giving me a quick patch job? I'm a bit winded," I asked, doing my best to give a smile. He obliged, crying as he scolded me for not paying attention and getting hurt. I couldn't help but laugh at him. "It's not funny, Izu! You got hurt! You can't even move your arms!" he cried. "Sorry, sorry. I know it's not funny, I just... couldn't help laughing at how nice it feels when you worry about me," I told him. He pouted for a moment before looking away. "Of course, I'd worry, dummy. I always worry about you. You need to take better care of yourself, ya know?" I nodded. "Thanks, Azzy. Love you too," I said, gently smiling at the warmth wrapping around my shoulders. He had already finished healing me, so he was just hugging me now as we sat on the ground. His fur was always so warm.

While Asriel was comforting me, he got the extra pleasure of getting compliments for being able to make the life-saving spur-of-the-moment decision and a few more comments about his healing magic. I looked over to check on Stain and he was glaring down at the Nomu. I smiled at his protective aura, but that soon faded into fear when I felt a tug on my soul. The Nomu broke free of the strings. I figured that magic wouldn't be as effective on a soulless creature, but I had at least expected it to last a long enough to be properly contained!

Nobody had any time to react as the Nomu came barreling towards me once more. And adding to that fear was the sudden movement of Stain as he pulled out a hidden knife and cut his restraints. "This society full of fake heroes..." he began, shedding the ropes that wrapped around him as he dashed straight for it. The wind broke with ease as his footsteps softly tapped the ground, barely loud enough to hear. "...and the criminals who wave their power around idly..." He threw the small blade at the Nomu's eye and caught a bit of the gushing blood in his mouth, paralyzing the Nomu. He ripped the knife out of its eye and stabbed the brain, slaying the grey creature. "... should all be purged," he claimed. Ripping his knife out of the brain and splattering blood everywhere, he then tried to stand but seemed to be having difficulty and resorted to leaning on my shoulder. Despite the chill that ran down my spine as he leaned on me for support, I didn't dare move. And luckily, neither did Asriel. "This is all to create a more just society!"

(Author POV)

Everyone had taken a step back, shaken to their core by the corpse of the Nomu that lay still at Stain's feet. "He killed someone without hesitation," one of the heroes muttered in fear. Hawks quickly held out two feathers in a battle stance. "Get ready to fight," he ordered, causing the other heroes to be on guard.

"Hey, why are you all standing in a group?" a familiar voice asked. Shoto and Endeavor had appeared at that moment, as Endeavor was the one who was chasing the escaped Nomu. "The villain should've escaped this way," he continued. "Endeavor! How are things on your end?" one of the heroes asked. Endeavor was on site when the Nomus attacked Hosu and was tasked with being one of the heroes to take them down. "Things got a little rough. But don't tell me that man is...?" he replied.

Hearing the voice of the number two hero, Stain forced his body to turn towards the heroes. "Endeavor," he spat out, his voice practically oozing venomous hate that Izuku could feel in his soul. The familiar feeling nearly brought out his own animosity, but Izuku forced it down. "Hero Killer!" Endeavor called out, grinning slyly as he coated his hand with a tremendous yellow flame. "Endeavor wait!" One of the heroes cried out, causing Endeavor to notice Izuku and Asriel's frightened forms right behind the Hero Killer. Not wanting to hurt the children, he canceled his attack and took a fighting form.

"You fake..." Stain said, filling the air with a suffocating bloodlust that only Izuku could withstand. "I must make things right..." he continued, taking a slow step forward. Izuku could feel his hatred react to Stain's bloodlust and was barely able to contain the unwanted rage. His eyes began to turn black as he struggled to fight off the dangerous magic. "Someone must be dyed in blood..." he continued, releasing more bloodlust. Izuku's eyes began leaking a black substance and his irises turned a blood red that matched Stain's. "I must take back what it means to be a hero!" he yelled louder than before, reaching an even greater aura. "Come! Try and get me, you fakes!" Stain shouted to the heroes. Izuku's entire world had turned red. The white of the moon, the grey of the fluffy white could, the air itself, and everything in sight was now a black and red palette. "The only one I'll let kill me is the true hero... ALL MIGHT!" he declared. Half of Izuku's body was black and it took everything he had in him to not kill everything that breathed. He couldn't breathe and he could hear Asriel's distant cries of fear and worry.

If this is what Stain was capable of, what was he going to do against the League of Villains? What would he do if he lost control when it really mattered? How could he hope to be the world's angel if he turned into a demon with a little bloodlust? Looks like he needs more training.

And before he could lose any more control, the weight was gone. Izuku was still struggling to breathe, but it was easier to calm down now. He could tell that Asriel was doing his best, and he was trying to listen. He could see the blurry form of Ilda shaking and the heroes looking at Stain in fear. Then there was confusion and another wave of fear. The fear was only feeding his HATE, but he knew that he needed to keep it down.

Calm down. You are safe. Asriel is here. Everything is okay.

Breath... In... Out... In... Out...

It took a few minutes but when he was finally able to register his surroundings, he could see Ilda on the phone, presumably with Gaster. He remembered his promise. Asriel was surrounding Izuku in circles of green flames, the warmth was comforting. A few more breathes and Izuku shakily stood up. "Asriel... It's... okay... I'm okay now. Just let me pull it in, I'll be okay," he assured. Asriel held the flames for a few more moments before releasing them.

Apparently, Stain had been more damaged from their fight than Izuku originally thought and a broken rib had punctured his lung the moment Izuku lost control. Ilda had let Gaster know that Izuku was okay now and that Asriel had calmed him down. Once Stain and the Nomu had been loaded up into an ambulance, Izuku had gotten a check-up from all the stress and injuries that Asriel had made sure to exaggerate. Ilda and Izuku had been transported to Hosu General Hospital, Asriel riding along with them and promising Hawks to be at the agency by tomorrow morning.

. . .

The next day came much faster than Izuku expected. Toriel had brought Asgore and the skeleton family to visit Izuku because the doctor had demanded he at least stay the night in case of any lingering damage they couldn't see on the surface. Unfortunately, the only lingering damage that was actually there was stress and sore muscles. Izuku decided that the best course of action to deal with those was catching up on any late work and answering emails and calls from his job and a check-in call from Hawks and Asriel, who had gone back to the agency immediately after giving Izuku his documents and laptop when morning came.

"Did you sleep well?" Ilda asked from the opposite bed. Izuku looked up from his work and gave Ilda a look that said 'Did you really just ask that?' and Ilda quickly turned to the hospital window, his face a bright tomato red. Izuku shook his head and got back to work. "I'll sleep when I'm tired," he told him. Ilda looked back at Izuku in concern. Ilda hesitated for a moment before deciding to speak. "Are you alright, Dreemur?" he asked. Izuku paused in his typing for a moment before ignoring the question and returning to his tasks. He typed on his computer for a few more minutes before closing his laptop with a deep sigh. "Okay, reports done, emails sent, and documents finalized. I hope I wasn't too late," he muttered to himself, not realizing Ilda could hear.

"You've got an awful lot to do, huh? Sounds exhausting." Tenya said solemnly. It only took a head nod to realize just how distant he was with Izuku. All this time he had been idly playing along with Asriel's antics while Izuku followed nearby, always next to his little brother. It was something Ilda envied. Tenya Ilda was younger brother to the the pro hero, Ingenium. Younger brother to someone so amazing, and he couldn't help but look up to him. Looking at how Izuku and Asriel interacted, he could tell it was the same for them. He felt a sort of kinship towards Asriel, in a sense. He felt like they were one in the same, their stories so very similar. Asriel wanting to follow in his big brother's footsteps, and Izuku paving a path of golden bricks for his younger brother to follow.

But now that it was just Izuku and Tenya, he didn't know how to interact with him, and that was crushing for him. Not only that, but Class-B seemed to have a better relationship with Izuku than anyone else in his class, aside from Asriel of course. Tenya wasn't jealous, nowhere close, he just felt so guilty. He felt like he had failed to pay enough attention to Izuku and how stressed he probably was. Thinking back on it, hand't Asriel invited him to hang out with Izuku after the Sports Festival? That's right, Asriel had mentioned a study session with Izuku, and perhaps even conversing about politics and other "law stuff". Asriel's thought process was that inviting to class rep and vice class rep to discuss the things Izuku has to deal with would help Izuku's stress levels, while also serving as a way to bond over common topics. The only reason Momo had denied the offer was because she had her own political affairs to attend to, due to being daughter of the esteemed Yaoyorozu family, who was ranked highest in the political rankings for funding just about every governmental agency to exist. But why had Tenya denied? Not politics, not school, not training, not even anything important. He denied because he wanted to visit his injured brother. Tenya Ilda felt like a failure. A failure of a leader, a failure of a hero, and a failure of a friend.

"Oh? You kids are awake?" Manual asked, walking in alongside Hawks and Asriel. "Azzy, Hawks!" Izuku cheered. "Manual.." Ilda said quietly. "Heya kiddo, I got some chicken soup and tea for ya!" Hawks said cheerfully, also happy to see Izuku. "Hey Izu, we came to see you. Don't worry about sending in the documents. I can have them delivered, you just eat up and I'll take care of everything," Asriel said, collecting all of Izuku's supplies. "Thanks bro, you're the best," Izuku sighed. Hawks asked Izuku about what the documents were about but was shut down due to it being classified information. So Hawks sadly moved on to another subject. "Hey, what was that that black stuff you were 'trying to keep in'? It looked real scary, kiddo," Hawks asked. "It's a SOUL magic called HATE. And yeah, it's pretty scary," Izuku replied. "Did it hurt? You looked like you couldn't breath. You sure you're okay?" Now that caught Tenya's attention. Izuku couldn't breath? He had never mentioned the toxic magic causing him any pain, he had only mentioned it causing destruction.

"Why didn't you say that your HATE would hurt you?! I would've told Professor Gaster to hurry!" Ilda fretted. "Because it only hurts when I'm trying to keep it inside. It's the same way normal hatred works. Keeping all your emotions in a bottle only hurts you in the end, you need to let it out. But if you let your emotions take control of you, then other people get hurt. Stain's bloodlust caused my soul to react in a way that it shouldn't have. It made me want to FIGHT him. It made me want to kill him. That's why it hurt so much. I was holding back more than ever, and that just proves how much more magic control training I need from Undyne," Izuku explained, shivering at the last part. Asriel shivered with him, causing Hawks to wonder who this "Undyne" person was, and why the two were so scared of them. "But yeah, I'm okay you guys. No need to worry," Izuku assured.

"Good, because you two have a visitor," Manual told them. A tall figure walked into the room, having to duck under the doorway. Izuku recognized this man immediately. Hosu's chief of police, Kenji Tsuragame. A man with a dog-face quirk. He was basically Sansa, but a dog. Sansa was Tsukauchi's partner and had a cat-face quirk. His head was was a tabby cat and had cat-like senses. Kenji's head was the head of a beagle and had dog-like senses. Izuku was already moving to get out of bed by the time Ilda bgan to react. "Oh, you can just sit down," Kenji told them. Ilda sat down, but it took some convincing on Asriel's part to get Izuku to sit. Kenji almost wanted to laugh at the pride of this boy, but kept it to himself. "You must be the UA student who took down the Hero Killer, woof," Kenji devised, looking directly at Izuku. "Yes sir," Izuku firmly replied.

Kenji nodded and continued. "Regarding the Hero Killer, he had some fairly serious injuries, with burns and broken bones, and is receiving treatment under strict guard, woof. Since you are UA students, I'm sure you already know that when superpowers were still becoming the norm, the police attached high standards to make sure quirks were not used as weapons. And then the profession "hero" emerged to fill that gap, woof. For an individual's use of force and power that can easily kill others actions that would normally be appropriated to denounce-- to be accepted officially is thanks to early heroes who followed the ethics and rules of the profession, woof. Even up against the Hero Killer, for uncertified individuals to cause injury with their quirks without specific instruction from their guardians or supervisors is a clear violation of the rules. Ilda Tenya and Manual must receive strict punishment," Kenji explained.

"That was the official opinion of the police. And the punishment and such would only happen if this were all made public, woof. If this were made public, you would probably be applauded by the public, but you would not be able to escape punishment. On the other hand, this is a bit under-handed, but if it is made public, the burn scars would support Izuku Dreemur being the hero who saved the day, and it would end there, woof. Thankfully, there were very few witnesses. This violation could be crushed here. But this would mean that "Angel" would make his debut before graduating or even getting a license. Which do you prefer?" Kenji finished.

Everyone was silent for a moment, wondering what to say. "I will-" Ilda began, but was cut off by Izuku. "-take the credit" Everyone looked towards Izuku. "This serves as profit in more ways than one, only one of which actually involves my debut as "Symbol of Hope: Angel". This can serve as a call to the public that I am able to protect them. This can serve as a warning towards those who go against my goal to stay out of the way. This can serve as a starting point to my hero career. And most importantly, this can give me a major leverage towards other politicians should they try to abuse their authority. Power always comes at a price, but I promise not to misuse it. Peace will exist in this world, and like Stain said, I will be the hope of this world's future. My debut as a hero will benefit the people-- both monsters and humans-- far more than it will me, so I'll take the credit," Izuku declared. Everyone was staring at him in pure awe. How could they not with a speech like that?

Kenji nodded, giving him a thumbs up. Manual sighed, "Either way, we will need to take responsibility for being negligent in our supervisory duties," he said sadly. Ilda got up and walked over to Manual and bowed in apology. "I am truly sorry," Ilda said. Manual gave him a soft chop on the head, like a stern parent. "All right. You'll cause trouble for others! If you understand, then don't do it again!" he scolded. "I won't!" Ilda replied. Kenji turned to Izuku once more and bowed, shocking everyone in the room. "As someone who protects the peace, I can say thank you," he said.

. . .

News got around about "Angel", the rising "Symbol of Hope" being the one who defeated Stain. More and more titles were being given to the green-haired boy. The ambassador of human-monster relations, was officially a hero to the public. "Symbol of Hope" and "Angel" were everywhere and a few others had some codenames of their own, but nobody knew of the names given by the underworld.

Asriel had contacted the class chat to let them know what went down and let them know everything was okay. Unfortunately for Hawks, Izuku's stressful workload, paired with the fight against Stain, and his lack of sleep caused him to be bedridden for another two days while nurses basically forced him to take care of himself and gave him a schedule to follow that would allow him some healthy time management. Izuku agreed, due to the begs and pleads of his friends and family worrying about him. Ilda had promised to keep a closer on Izuku's health as "he was the class rep and it is his duty to care for and guide his classmates with honor and respect," though Izuku didn't quite understand what he meant when he called himself a failure for "not doing a good enough job beforehand". Izuku thought he was overachieving enough as it is. What was the new Ilda going to be like if the last one was a failure? He didn't want to know, but he knew he would unfortunately find out very soon. After all, internships were going to be over soon weren't they? That's right... they only had about a week left.

A week of paperwork and patrol... Izuku decided that, perhaps it is in his best interest to get some rest. He's going to need it.

(Ya know, for someone with so little motivation, a record-breaking chapter like this is honestly a bit much. I mean, 3.5k words? Yeah that takes some motivation. I was just very determined to get my imagination out there. I feel better now, lol. But yeah, new record!

So anyway, the chapter "Interships: Part 3" has an Author's note at the end of the chapter where you can vote via comment on what you want to happen later on in the story. And here is how it works, so we don't make the mistake of saying "yes" or "no" with absolutely no context...

Example: this sentence can be commented on. There is a little grey speech bubble to the right of this sentence that you can click/tap on. This will allow you to enter a comment section specifically related to that sentence.

Please use the comment section of the sentence to vote, and not the comment section itself. That's very confusing because I don't know what you're saying "yes" to.

Thank you for your time. And, as always, thank you all for reading!)
