Back to School and Announcement

(Memes for the soul)

----------------------------------------------------------

~~~3 weeks later~~~
School was officially back in session, and the two Dreemurs had woken up an hour earlier knowing very well that Gaster would charge them for being late. They could not wait to see one of their other classmates fall victim to the puzzle trap, or at the very least Aizawa because that man is never on time to class. Their excitement was comparable to that of their very first day at UA. With their clothes on, supplies ready, and bellies filled, they ran out the door and off to school.
Getting to class early was always an exciting thing when it came to Gaster because the new professor was always his favorite, regardless of his strict teaching. He loved it, even more, when someone else was caught in his trap. It was always a treat to watch for the Izuku and Gaster. Asriel was calmly unpacking his thing while Izuku had already gotten ready and was seated patiently.
It was 30 minutes before class started when the students began trickling in. They were chatting and buzzing about the news still making a fuss about the USJ. By the time Ilda had finally made it to class, everyone was already seated. Izuku found it surprising that Ilda of all people was last. Luckily for him, he was just barely on time, so no punishments for him. However, the same couldn't be said for Aizawa as the newly upgraded, automatic door closed in his face. He watched as the already bone-tired man let out a deep sigh and pull out his ID to unlock the door only for it to be denied and have to solve the puzzle.
It took all of Izuku's strength not to laugh at the poor man as he managed to get in after the seventh try. He loved his Uncle Gaster so much right now, and he was cherishing each and every moment of this as he hid his phone once the teacher finally got in.
He was sending that to Gaster for sure.
. . .
(Aizawa POV)
'Curse you, Gaster! Nezu is never going to let me live this down! I know you made these to teach the children how to be on time, but why torture the teachers as well?!' I thought, finally opening the door after the seventh try. I stood at the podium and look over the pool of students, trying to see anyone who had their phones out or if any of them were laughing at me. Only two students had seen my struggle, however only one of them felt sorry for me. The youngest Dreemur, Asriel, was signing an apology, a good thing I learned sign language. I should add that to the lesson plans. The oldest Dreemur, Izuku, was looking towards me with a face of expectancy like he was waiting for me to speak, but the look in his eyes told me he was laughing on the inside. Bastard.
"Alright, listen up. The UA sports festival is drawing near."
Kirishima was cheering about it being a normal school event when Kaminari cut him off. "Wait-" he started, but Jirou finished his statement before he got the chance. "Is it okay to have a sports festival so soon after the villains snuck inside?" she asked. "What if they attack us again?" The class was slowly beginning to murmur worries and concerns. "UA is trying to show the public that our student's safety is secured by holding the event. Security will be strengthened to five times what it was before so the parents can rest easy knowing that it's safe. Above all, the sports festival is the perfect chance to get Pro Heroes to notice you. It's not an event that can be canceled by a few villains," I said, easing their worries.
"Our sports festival is one of Japan's biggest events. In the past, the Olympics were called a festival of sports, and the whole country was crazy about them. As you know, with reductions in scale population, they're now a shell of their former glory. And now, for Japan, what has taken the place of those Olympics is the UA sports festival!" I explained. A few students talked about how you could get noticed by heroes and join their agency as a temporary sidekick, so I went on to explain that topic further.
"Of course, joining a famous hero agency will get you experience and popularity. But if you want to go pro, the first step to doing that starts with this event. Once a year, which gives you a total of three chances. No aspiring hero can afford to miss this chance. If you understand, then you better be prepared to work even harder, and no slacking off!" I said. "Yes, sir!" they shouted in response. "Homeroom dismissed."
Now to go and complain to that skeleton...
(Izuku POV)
It was lunchtime, so when I didn't see Gaster in any of my classes, I pulled out his class schedule for the week and... Science is only on Wednesdays and Thursdays. 2nd period on Wednesdays and 6th period on Thursdays.
'Dammit. Guess we woke up early for nothing,' I thought. "Wait, did you know something important was going to happen today?" one of the female students asked. I looked over to see Uraraka and Ilda standing at my desk. "Do not be ashamed! It's a good thing to be early for any occasion!" Ilda said with his hand-chopping in full swing. "Oh- uh, y-you'll see on Wednesday. I think you'll like it," 'as long as you're on time' was left unsaid. At least Gaster would have plenty of time to run the school in Newer Home. Being the principal of a school full of annoying kids must be hard, especially when there are so many troublemakers. And now a teacher at UA? Man, is Gaster trying to top my stress levels?
Originally the school was for monster children, but when humans started building residences near the area, the school had changed into a human-monster public school. Allowing both races to attend would hopefully encourage peace between future generations. Many human children with so-called "villainous" or "weak" quirks heard about the school and were curious. The school itself taught all grades and accepted all kinds of people. The teachers mostly consisted of the previous royal scientists, but the Queen had joined the group of teachers that taught the preschool and elementary students, while the rest of the teachers taught the middle school and high school students.
Because of this, any human children that were still being bullied because of their quirk, or lack thereof, in their old schools quickly transferred to Newer Home in hopes of a more friendly environment. The humans were easily accepted and loved the same as any other monster, quirkless even more so due to their prince being quirkless himself. The progress being made to reach peace was going so much faster with the school method and I began to think that society would accept monsterkind much faster than expected, even if the government officials still disagreed. It was only a matter of time before peace became a guarantee and my ultimate goal is accomplished.
True freedom for monsterkind.
. . .
(Asriel POV)
I was chatting with Uraraka and Ilda while Izuku pulled out a stack of papers and started writing... Is he really working on a report in the middle of school?! STOP WORKING!! You're at SCHOOL not at WORK! I was not about to watch him waste a perfectly good chance to make friends because he has a job. Mom already had to fill in for him for 3 weeks, and he still managed to sneak past her defenses and do work when he wasn't supposed to. He was working during his break.
I took the papers out of his hands just as he finished writing whatever it was and stuffed it in my bag. "No. Absolutely not. I refuse to let you do your job when you are in school!! You should be more focused on socializing and making friends. Sans and Papyrus can't be your only friends ever. Get out of your papers and go say 'hi'!" I ordered, shoving him towards Ilda and Uraraka.
"Wow, Izuku-kun! You're working during school? That's really admirable" Uraraka said, pumping her fists. "But isn't that tiring? I don't think that I could ever do that." she continued. I nodded my head in agreement. "It's okay! I'm used to it. Besides, I worked during my break so I'm sure that there isn't much to catch up on since Mom took care of the rest," Izuku replied sheepishly. "NONSENSE! You should be more concerned about your health! As your friend, I advise you to take better care of yourself. You shouldn't be working on break. Breaks are for resting and you are meant to do just that," Ilda said, chopping his hand in the air like always.
I listened to them talk some more on our way to lunch as the conversation slowly turned into our reasons for being a hero. I was kind of curious as well. "Hey, Uraraka-san. Why did you decide to be a hero?" I asked, tilting my head in curiosity. "Huh? Uh-umm... because..." she trailed off, muttering the last bit. "For money? You want to be a hero for money?" Izuku asked.
I couldn't blame him, it was surprising seeing something so selfish out of such a sweet girl. She had to have a good reason, otherwise, she wouldn't be so nice to people. She'd probably be just like those mean politicians. I don't think I'd be friends with her if she acted anything like them. There is no way I'd be friends with a selfish bully, not a chance. But Uraraka was a good person, and really friendly, so there was no possible way she was just being greedy.
"Simply put, yes. Sorry, it's such a selfish reason. You guys have such admirable reasons for being heroes, it makes me feel bad," she said, covering her face in shame. "Why? How is having a goal to support your livelihood not admirable?" Ilda asked, swinging his arms around to emphasize his point. Izuku hummed in agreement, "Right, but it's still pretty unexpected."
"My family owns a constructive company, but we haven't gotten any work lately so we're flat broke," she explained, rubbing the back of her neck nervously. "Construction..." Ilda said thoughtfully. Then I realized, "But wouldn't a quirk like yours be beneficial to the company?" I asked. "You can make any raw material float. They wouldn't need any special equipment with you around," Ilda pointed out. Uraraka spun around and pointed at us. "Right?! That's what I told Dad when I was little! But he told me to follow my dreams. I'll become a hero and make lots of money so my parents can have it easy." she said.
Ilda swung his arms above his head and loudly applauded. Me and Izuku shared a look of contentment. "It's a lot like our goal really, becoming heroes so we could bring peace and happiness to everyone, not just the monsters. Izuku and I wanted to become heroes so we could save everyone," told her. "When Izuku first fell into the Underground, it was because a human had chased him there," they gasped. I could feel the pity and sadness for Izuku right now, but I wasn't about to let it stay like that.
"We took him in and made him one of our own. Izu always loved heroes and he practically worshipped them back then," I said with a chuckle. Izuku grumbled under his breath about me embarrassing him, but I ignored it and continued. "When he heard the tale about how monsters were trapped in the mountain, he made it his life goal to get us out. Izu wanted to repay our kindness by letting us see the stars. The closest we had ever gotten to stars was the glowing gems on the ceiling of Waterfall. We liked to pretend they were real stars and make a wish on them. We monsters made a tradition of whispering our wishes into an echo flower, and hoping that one day, someone would hear them, and make them come true."
"Izuku heard the wishes of all the monsters, and he trained hard to make all our dreams come true. Then, 10 months ago, the barrier was gone. We didn't know it was possible, considering the amount of times Izuku had attacked the barrier and all the experiments the Royal scientists did to help his endeavor. Artificial souls, magic extractors, magic laser canons, even time travel. But none of it worked, and the time travel thing was shut down due to the butterfly effect theory destroying the current timeline. The only remaining hope was Izuku being able to master all forms of magic and attack the barrier at full force. But even our final attempt didn't work. We had given up hope on the barrier being destroyed, right up until it just disappeared. We never did find out who broke it, but we don't really care at this point. We're just happy to be on the surface," I explained.
"So basically, our reason for being a hero is so that everyone can feel the same happiness that we monsters felt that day. When we stepped outside for the first time and watched the sunset fall and the stars light up the sky like a beautiful display of magic and color. That's what we want people to feel. That's our reason to become heroes!" When I finished my explanation, Uraraka was crying, Ilda had his hand over his chest, and Izuku was smiling. This was more or less the reaction I expected, but it still felt embarrassing.
"That's... that's beautiful..." Uraraka said through tears and sniffles. "Indeed, a truly noble quest. One worthy of a King, as expected of the princes of monsters. Well done!" Ilda praised. It was Ilda's turn now, and he revealed that the pro hero Ingenium was his older brother, and the Ingenium name had been passed down through the family bloodline and that he would be an Ingenium too when he graduated. He admired his older brother as much as I did and I couldn't help but smile at the similarity between the two of us. After all, if it wasn't for Izuku, I wouldn't be nearly as motivated to train as hard as I do. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for him, so I get where Ilda's coming from.
With our conversation at its end, our break was over and we went back to class.
----------------------------------------------------------
(Okay, that's it for this chapter. It's too late in the day to make another chapter, so I'll probably just draw the rest of the day or play video games.
I want to make Gaster's "battle body" (cuz he don't got a hero license so it's not his hero costume) so you'll probably see that in one of the future chapters.
And as always, thanks for reading everyone! see you soon!)
