[personality]: Rowan is the definition of the strong,  silent type. That is, unless he's got a problem with you, and then he suddenly has a lot to say.  He carries his emotions close to his chest and is kind of a serious, pensive guy who has to be talked into the carousing, the silly games, the drinking, and the stuff the other islanders are there to do. Rowan's friends and family are the most important thing in his life and he lives by a strong moral compass. His job has taught him to remain detached and professional around even the most stunning and interesting of people.  He isn't arrogant but may come across that way because he's so reserved. 

[backstory]: Rowan is an average guy who grew up in a small town, where he excelled at football and received a scholarship on the basis of his ability to shove people who stood in his way. He loves movies and set out for the big city with hopes of becoming a film director or screenplay writer. At the age of 26,  he still works as a production assistant for TV shows and hopes for important people to notice him, even though he mostly doesn't like chit-chat with other people. 

Rowan was a production assistant for Season One of Love Island, where he was responsible for the care of contestants who departed the show for one reason or another. He knows all the mysteries about what happened to your favorite character from last season, but won't tell you. He returned for Season Two, and when a cast member was unable to participate at the last moment, the Powers That Be suggested him as a candidate. No one argues with the Powers That Be. 

Rowan knows all the best hiding places to avoid the cameras. Aside from that, he doesn't really have any special advantage and gets paid as much as everyone else. He didn't help cast anyone  on the show but is aware everyone will be unrealistically hot.
