Chapter 2: Storm Warning
Chapter 2: Storm Warning
"Hope is a waking dream."
She decided that she would visit that girl again and warn her.
Hazel.
That was her name. Hazel Levesque, daughter of Pluto. Roman, like her. One of the Seven of the Second Great Prophecy.
Which they thought was over.
But it was far from it.
She waited until Midnight to do it. By then she would surly be asleep.
She concentrated on the powers she was granted long ago for being an Archangel and on an image of Hazel.
The forest slowly faded away to a building she didn't recognize. It looked like an old school building, complete with white painted walls and a blackboard.
Hazel slowly faded in, her back to her.
"Hello again." She called softly to the young demigod.
Hazel spun around and reached for her spatha, which was nonexistent at the moment.
"Who are you?" She asked warily. "Where am I?"
"You don't recognize this place? It is from your memory, not mine."
Hazel looked around, "It's my old school." She realized. She looked at her again, closer. Her eyes widened with realization. "And your the girl from the coffee shop. The girl from the photo. Your her, and you've been following us."
"I have been. You don't understand what happened so long ago. The gods didn't tell you the whole truth. I can't help you, for it would mean helping the Olympians."
"But you are a demigod, what did the gods do that was so horrible?"
She sighed, "This is a topic better left unknown, I came to warn you, your quest is futile. Even if you do find me, I will probably fade soon after. Kerberos has lived in the memories of his allies, while no one has remembered me. The only reason I haven't faded yet..." She trailed off, and cursed herself for bringing that up.
"Is because of what? Who remembered you, and why doesn't he or she now?" The young demigod asked curiously.
"Hazel. These are dangerous questions you ask. He doesn't remember, and he can't remember. You already know him, he's on this quest with you. Just, know that I can't help you. Your quest is futile."
She closed her eyes and pictured the forest again. Hazel's vision swirled around before she was forced out of the dream.
She sighed. She hoped that the young girl would take heed of her warning, but she knew that she probably wouldn't.
They didn't understand, they couldn't understand. They couldn't believe that the gods would do that. They couldn't see what she had seen, they hadn't lived with it for almost all of their lives.
They couldn't ever fully understand.
~~~
Hazel bolted upright in her bed. It took her a moment to remember where she was. Then the memories came flooding back: She was in the Hades' cabin at Camp Half-Blood.
Frank and her had agreed to stay here with the others since most of them already stayed here and due to the fact it was close to Olympus. They wanted to stay close until the quest was over.
Her thoughts drifted to the dream.
Their quest was impossible. That realization had hit her like a giant. It was hopeless, they were doomed.
'No.' She started to curse herself for thinking like that, but then remembered Percy's and Annabeth's stories.
Although she didn't plan on falling into Tartarus any time soon, it was better to be safe than sorry.
"Nico!" She hissed as she shook her half-brother awake.
"What? What's going on?" Nico groaned tiredly, his eyes only half open.
"I had a dream. She visited me." She told him.
"What? What happened?" Nico asked, suddenly wide awake.
"Just get up and get dressed! I'll get the others and bring them here." Hazel was already in a purple shirt with jeans, because she had been too exhausted to look through her luggage for her pajamas.
"Are you-"
"Plu- Hades will be fine with it." Hazel answered his unfinished question as she fixed her hair. She brushed her teeth then rushed out of the cabin. It was around 7:00 AM, so some campers were out and about.
She knew she would probably get lost easily in this unfamiliar place, so she went to the one cabin she remembered how to get to: Cabin 6.
Annabeth's cabin.
She knocked, unsure of what to do.
"Come in!" She heard a voice softly call.
She stepped inside. At first she thought about how it was possible for Min- Athena to have so many kids, yet still remain a maiden. Annabeth had to explain it to her and Frank when they arrived.
She spotted Annabeth on one bunk typing away on a laptop. Her Daedalus laptop was still long gone, but she said she had either written down or memorized some of the things in there, so she got a new laptop and inputted the saved ideas.
"Annabeth." She said, getting the attention of her friend. Annabeth's head snapped up, looking curiously at her.
"Hazel, what's going on?"
"I had a dream last night." She explained "She visited me." That gained a few curious looks from the awake children of Athena.
Annabeth typed something, then snapped her laptop shut. "I'll get Percy, you get Frank." Annabeth told Hazel as the two left the cabin.
"Well...I got you first because..." Hazel trailed off, unsure and embarrassed.
Annabeth realized that her friend didn't know her way around camp.
"Never mind. We'll get Percy first because it will take him longer than anyone to get up." She smiled at the thought of her boyfriend.
After everyone was awake and gathered in the Hades Cabin, Hazel told them her dream.
"So he's one of us." Annabeth's face showed that she was in deep thought. "What were her words exactly?"
"He doesn't remember, and he can't remember. You already know him, he's on this quest with you.' were her exact words."
"So it's either Percy, Jason, Nico, Frank, or Leo." Thalia deducted.
"How was she dressed?" Annabeth asked, her friends felt like they could literally see the gears turning in her head.
"Umm..." Hazel searched her memories. "A black shirt and black jeans with two daggers in sheathes on her belt. But how does this help?"
Annabeth didn't seem to hear her. She started muttering to herself.
"Wise Girl?" Percy asked. "Can you come back to Earth?"
Annabeth shook her head to clear away her thoughts. "Sorry, what?"
"How does this help?"
"I was trying to think if we've seen her before, anywhere at anytime. And Hazel, diamonds are surrounding your feet."
Hazel looked down to see that some diamonds had popped through the floor of the cabin.
"Sorry." She apologized as she sent them back into the earth. They were not cursed anymore, because that was her wish after the war, but if she was anxious or nervous like she was now, they would still pop up.
"Soooo.....What do we do now?" Frank asked.
Nobody knew how to answer that.
