"Mark...." A familiar voice calls my name. It was very faint though, so I was unable to make out who's voice it belonged to.

I swim around in the dark pool, letting its gently waves wash over my skin, making me feel like everything was okay. Nothing was going to hurt me here on these gentle tidal waves.

"Mark....wake up.." The voice calls again. A thin trail of light reaches through the satisfying darkness.

No! I scream, thrashing around, trying to get further away from the light. I don't want to go back!

"Mark...." The thin light starts to expand, engulfing me in its rays. I let out a silent shriek as the pain overcomes me.

~~~
I bolt upright, hitting my head against the top of the dog crate. The world spins a little and I lay back down, regretting bolting upright.
Stupid dog crate... I mutter in my head. Suddenly my eyes widen as realization slapped me in my face.
"Oh... You're awake now!" An eerily familiar demon's voice growled. It belonged to one of the most powerful demons on the planet, Dzere. The look on my face must've amused him because hr smiles wider. "So you know who I am." I swallow hard and slowly nodded.
Was all of it a dream? No, it was real considering the pain in my chest. But the blue eyes! And..Phil!
"Where's Phil?" I ask, voice wavering a tiny bit. Dzere laughs.
"Honestly, I thought maybe you knew the answer." His lips were drawn back in a snarl, revealing razor sharp teeth. I flinch as he unlocks the crate. "This can go one of two ways. You can either tell me the truth and not face punishment or lie and I'll throw you off of the edge of this cliff, where there's no guarantee that you'll survive." I stare at him with anger. Only now did I see that we were by a cliff that had a small forest over behind Dzere.
"I don't know where Phil is," I state, still glaring at him. Dzere growls, flinging open the crate. I let out a yelp when he grabbed my wrist and yanked me out of the crate forcefully.
"I believe that's the wrong answer!" He hisses, squeezing my wrist. There was a sickening snap of the bone breaking followed by my screams. Pain floods through me instantly, causing me to accidentally kick Dzere in the chest while he had me suspended in mid-air. "I'm going to ask you again, where is the other human?"
"I don't know!" I scream, kicking his chest repeatedly over and over, but it doesn't bother him. "All I remember is blue eyes!" Dzere lowers me to eyes level, frowning.
"Blue eyes? What sort of blue eyes?"
"Does it matter?!" I spat.
"Do you wish to keep your other arm in tact?" He responds coldly.
"They were just regular blue eyes! They had a hint of gold around the edges, not much, but a little bit."
"Shit," he mutters, shoving me in the cave. I cradle my broken arm. "It's him. He's back, I can sense him." He bends down, shutting and locking my crate.
"Who's back?!" I growl, gritting my teeth as another wave of pain floods through my body.
"None of your business!" He growls, picking my crate up and hurried into the woods. Dzere suddenly tosses me up towards a tree. I let out a little cry as my crate gets stuck between two tree branches.
"Utter a single word, and I will kill you when I get back. Understood?" I nod, bringing my knees up against my chest.
Dzere walks slowly back out to where the clearing was. "Listen, angel, I know you're here, you can stop hiding now." I watch in awe as dark figure emerges from the shadows. All I could really make out in the dark was brown hair.
"Listen, dude," The figure says, walking towards Dzere, who took a step back. "I know you have him here and so let's save the drama."
"Um.. Who are you talking about exactly?" Dzere asks, playing stupid.
"The human that you're so willing to keep as your play thing after Xacier died."
"Shut up!" Dzere growls. The figure doesn't listen.
"You couldn't even save your own brother! How pathetic are you? One of the most powerful demons of all time my ass!"
"I said, shut up! Don't you fucking fallen ones know how to shut your traps!"
"First off, the name is Dan. Not 'fallen one', not 'angel,' just Dan. Second of all, I'm here under orders to collect this human, and I'm not leaving until I find him."
"What makes you think that I have the human?" Dzere says. The figure, Dan, crosses his arms.
"A certain someone told me."
"Well, that certain 'someone' can go shove it!" Dzere probably smiled. "But if you don't believe me, be my guest and search the area. There's nobody here but you and I."
"I think I will." Dan says walking towards the edge of the forest. I held my breath. I could either scream to let this person named Dan know I'm here, risking the possibility of death or pray silently, hoping that he would somehow find me. Either way, it could result in my death.
As Dan enters the forest, searching around, while Dzere stands, smirking in the clearing, I made up my mind on what I was going to do. I wasn't going to do anything, because Dzere would kill me if I let this person know I'm here. I watch as he stops under the tree, where I was.
Please look up, I thought to myself. Please.
