<9> Annabeth.

It was two days later and Annabeth was just starting to get the hang of this... School... The first day was terrible though. she remembered being called up in from of the class to introduce herself. She felt so weird standing up in front of everybody. She began to sweat lightly and her face became flushed. Annabeth had no idea what to call that but she didn't like the feel of it.

Annabeth sighed and did what was called her homework. It was really strange. But Will helped her sometimes. Will had to come in and explain everything sometimes. It often reminded Annabeth of being cast down from her place. Fallen.

Annabeth laid her head down on the desk in her room the heavy rock music playing from Will's room making her be able to feel her pulse in her head. It caused... pain... It was a strange feeling for Annabeth. She hadn't felt it much before. This... school, had explained pain as warnings. Telling you that your body needed help. Otherwise there was no pain. Your body didn't need anything if it wasn't in pain.

Annabeth wondered what her body needed, probably peace and quiet. Maybe a little sleep.

She groaned and walked outside of her room and grabbed what they called a phone, she typed in the memorized number that Percy had taught her in case she ever needed him. So she typed it in. She pressed the green phone and put the object up to her ear hearing a light ringing tone that was dull and not harmonic at all.

After about three rings she heard a small beep before Percy's voice. "Hello?" She let out a sigh of relief. She saw him every day now but for some reason she had grown an attachment to him. Something about him... his presence just eased her nerves. It made her feel safe. His hoodie was nice and all but it didn't do Percy's presence justice. It couldn't protect her. Not that she needed protecting.

"Percy." She breathed out Percy chuckling through the phone the quiet noise sweet to Annabeth's ears. "Hey Annabeth, ya miss me?"

Annabeth felt her ears go red but she answered in all honesty. "Yeah, I miss you a lot. All the time actually."

There was a long silence after what she said.

"Percy?" She asked shyly wondering if she said something incorrect or stupid. "Uh-" There was light coughing, "-oh, y-you do? T-that's g-good. Yeah, um-"

"Do you miss me?" Annabeth had no idea where the question came from but she assumed it needed asked if it was coming off of her lips.

"M-miss you? Of course I-I do...... Miss you...." Percy coughed a little more and Annabeth nodded. "Will you come over I'd like you to help me if you could. I-I'm having a little trouble with something."

Percy was almost instantly responding with yes.  "I'll be over in a few minutes, okay Annabeth?" "Ok, Percy. I-I'll be waiting." Annabeth said before hearing Percy breath shakily. Annabeth hung up and sat in the kitchen with the phone for a few minutes in silence thinking about Percy.

As dark as his hair was she still loved it, it fit him and made him a part of who he was. The black that repulsed her so, somehow felt so right on him. She thought about his green eyes. They reminded her of when she used to look down from the clouds and stare at the open sea. The water looking green and sparkling from the sun's light.

Annabeth smiled lightly before standing up her back aching a little bit from the movement. Oh, she almost forgot about that. It was almost like it was getting worse. Annabeth wondered if it was actually bad for her or if it was just the thought of everything she loved being ripped from her grasp.

Annabeth slowly started to make her way back to her room walking slowly every step delicate and taken with thought. Maybe if she stepped the wrong way something would go bad and she'd be sent lower-

No, nothing was worse than being thrown to Earth like yesterday's trash.

Annabeth suddenly heard Will's music go down making her ears not buzz as much.  Then she heard talking between two souls. One male and one Will. Annabeth was curious who she was talking to. The voice wasn't familiar to her ears at all.

The door to Will's room creaked open and Annabeth looked up from the floor watching Will walk out before another person followed her closely behind. He stepped out of the room and Annabeth gasped at the sight of him.

She looked at him closely before meeting his dark brown eyes him meeting her stormy grey ones. She felt waves of darkness flood over her and shivers run up and down her spine every instinct in her body telling her to flee. Get away from him. He wasn't good.

"Annabeth.. This is Nico." Will said with a smile as Nico kept his gaze on Annabeth who was trying her best not to run away or reach for her weapon that wasn't there. Not attached to her side any more.

"Hello Annabeth, pleased to meet you." He greeted her in a formal way reminding her of the cleverness of spirits in lower places.... So sly in words and deed. Pretending to be the good guy only to stab you in the back.

He offered her a hand to shake and she felt herself begin to fill with fear. She had no special powers, she had no kind of defense, and she was made weaker. She had no wings. Oh how many times in a day was she reminded of what she lost.

Suddenly she heard the front door open and the wind blew through making her hair rustle lightly and the smell of the sea fill her nose.

Annabeth sighed in content, the fear she once had leaving her bones quickly the smell of sea breeze calming to her knowing she was safe.

She turned her head and looked to see Percy who was smiling lightly at them. "Hey guys." he waved lightly before closing the door. "Hey Nico." Percy walked u and took Nico's hand and shook it Annabeth standing beside him in the comfort of his aura.

"Hey Perc..." He shortened Percy's name as he kept a close eye on Annabeth and she kept a close eye on him, watching his every move.

"So what did you need help with?" Percy asked and Annabeth slowly took her gaze from Nico and fixed it on Percy to give him her full attention. "J-just some homework." She nodded up at him and he nodded.

"Well, Nico and I are gonna go get some smoothies if you guys want anything." Will said and Annabeth noticed Will looked much cleaner than her usual self. Her eyes popped out more and her hair was less messy in it's usual bun. She wore nicer clothes.

Annabeth wondered what that was all about.

"Nah I'm good."  Percy waved Will off and she nodded before Percy gave her a side wink making Will blush. "Come on Nico we're leaving." She grabbed his hand and jerked him towards the exit as he followed her a sly smile etching its way onto his lips Annabeth glaring in his way.

"Woah, you really want a smoothie or something?" Percy asked and Annabeth shook her head. She had no interest in the drink Will had to explain the concept of to her the past week.

"I'm just interested in Nico." She said not paying attention to Percy that much. "Oh.." His happy expression slowly slipped off his face to a blank expression. She sighed before turning to Percy and grabbing his empty hand and pulling him to her room to help explain some of her homework.
