<2> Annabeth.
The last thing she remembered was unbearable pain, and unforgettable rejection and disappointment. Disappointment in her.
Annabeth opened her eyes and looked at something white which looked hard, she started to get blurry eyes and she felt her throat burn. She had never had that feeling before, it hurt. It made her face wet and her make weird noises, but her throat felt better when she was done.
"Hey." She heard a deep voice and she stopped. She looked at the ceiling more as the last of the water from her eyes rolled down the sides of her face.
"You're ok." Slowly Annabeth turned her head to see a man, a man with black hair and gorgeous sea green eyes.
Annabeth gasped and sat up quickly backing as far away a she from him on the couch.
Black wasn't a good color. It was associated with death, and rebellion. The thought of rebellion made Annabeth feel like perishing.
"Hey, hey it's ok." the man reached out to touch her but she pulled away keeping silent as she dodged his attempt to grab her.
The man stopped mid-reach and Annabeth slowly looked up from his hand to his face to see him give a her a smile of compassion.
He leaned back in his seat and looked at her. "I'm sorry I scarred you." He apologized and she just starred at him with calculating eyes to see if he was an evil being in disguise.
After a few minutes he cleared his throat and grabbed a clear glass that was on a small table next to Annabeth as she sat on the brown couch.
He moved his hand with the glass in it towards her. "I'm Percy."
Annabeth looked down at the glass with the clear liquid in it. It looked like water, but might've been some mixed drink to kill her and send her to the depths of Tartaurus. The place every angel feared.
"Would you like some water?" he asked and she looked at it skeptically for a moment before shaking her head no and looking down at the brown couch which she sat on.
For some reason she had on a very heavy hot item of clothing, it was making her hot and it seemed to weigh her down. It came down just past her bum.
Suddenly in thinking that her eyes widened. She reached her hands back and felt around her back. The pain of her own touch made her whimper but what was even worse was that there was nothing there. No wings.
Annabeth had lost her wings.
Annabeth felt that hot feeling in her throat again, she sniffled. Tears were starting to form in her eyes. She bit her lip.
"Hey, you're ok. No one's going to hurt you."
She looked over at the man who called himself 'Percy' and she saw that he had a cut on his forehead.
Instantly her own feelings shut down and as instinct she jumped onto her knees before examining his forehead grabbing his face to hold him still.
"Whoa, umm."
Percy staid still as she looked at his cut, it looked like it was made a few days ago.
"I got in a fight," Percy spoke up as he looked at the floor. "Heh, definitely lost it that's for sure."
Annabeth moved her hand and lightly touched it with her thumb rubbing it against the cut as Percy winced slight pain in his forehead. When she removed her thumb the cut was still there. It hadn't disappeared, it hadn't healed itself.
Annabeth looked at her hand before letting go of Percy's head and falling back on her legs examining her hand. She couldn't heal him. She couldn't fix the problem.
She sat there for a moment before lowering her hand along with her head her hair covering her face, she had lost everything. Because of one mistake.
"Are you ok?" Percy asked looking at her as she swallowed the burning feeling.
"W-what is this feeling?" She asked her shoulders slumping from having to ask what was going on.
"What feeling?" Percy asked trying to see past her blonde curls to see her facial expression.
Annabeth sighed her eyes closed, "My throat, i-it burns. And my eyes water. Somehow it feels better after I drain of the water."
She heard him sigh beside her as all she could see was darkness. "It's sadness, an emotion. You feel broken, and forgotten. Forsaken. It causes you to cry, that's what it's called when your eyes water."
Those words were what broke Annabeth. She was forsaken. Abandoned, deserted.
Annabeth squeezed the sleeves of the heavy item of clothing that lay on her as a covering before opening her eyes and looking up at Percy.
She examined his face, he had sea green eyes, a slightly pointed nose, his lips were tan and thin, thin like her own. He was beautiful, he could've classified as something powerful in her realm.
After a few moments of starring at him with a blank face Percy spoke up, "W-would you mind telling me your name?" He asked timidly and Annabeth looked at her small hands.
"It's Annabeth." she said while playing with the fabric on her wrists from the heavy piece of clothing. It was a blue color that seemed to catch her attention. It was beautiful. Like she once was.
"What am I wearing?" She asked looking at it in curiosity.
"What- Oh, uh. That's just a hoodie. My hoodie."
Just then Annabeth heard a tapping from somewhere in the room.
She lifted her head and looked around as Percy almost turned white before sighing.
He got up from his chair and went to the wooden block on hinges which had three small pieces of glass in them so Annabeth could see through them.
Percy pulled opened the wood and held it open. "H-hey mom." he scratched the back of his head sheepishly.
"Hi Percy." She smiled at him before looking over at Annabeth.
"Who's your friend?" She asked handing a bag of groceries to Percy.
"J-just Annabeth." he balanced the brown paper bag in his arms that seemed to be filled with vegetables and bread.
"Oh, hello Annabeth. I'm Sally." She
said before looking Annabeth up and down as she sat on the couch in Percy's hoodie that left her long thing legs bare. Annabeth sat looking at them in curiosity and amazement wondering what they were thinking.
"Take the groceries to the kitchen." The woman ordered and Percy nodded with a sigh before walking away into a different room.
The woman walked back out and came back in with another bag before closing the wood sealing the place shut and going in the room Percy had walked into.
"Percy, what is she really doing here?" Annabeth heard Sally ask.
"N-nothing mom, I just found her in the streets and I wanted to help-"
"She's wearing your hoodie."
Annabeth smiled before looking back down at the hoodie. It was Percy's. It was really warm though. It was making Annabeth really hot.
"I know that, I put it on her."
"After you took advantage of a pretty girl."
"N-NO! M-mom, I didn't sleep with anybody. She's just a homeless girl. She needs a place to stay."
Annabeth was homeless wasn't she? Cast down from her old home and down to wherever she was right now. She had no place to rest. No place of warmth.
"Well she can't stay here. There's too much temptation. She's a beautiful girl."
Annabeth smiled to herself. She called her pretty. Though she had no idea what the other things were that they were talking about. Annabeth had never heard of such things.
"S-she can stay at Grover's. Or Thalia's. Will wouldn't mind. Rachel-"
"Ok, let me go talk to her then we'll set things up."
Annabeth heard a sigh before she heard thumps to where she was sitting there looking at the couch contently.
"Annabeth, how old are you?"
