Fallen

Chosen Station: Angel

---

Have you heard?

They say that several Underground Stations of London are haunted by the spirits of regret, envy, revenge. The Seven Sisters wait in regret in their Station; the King in Kings Cross Station burns in envy; the Knight in Knightsbridge Station still remembers his oath of revenge.

But the Angel is the only one trapped in God's wrath – writhing in her regret; screaming in her envy; swearing her revenge.

You do not seem to be aware of the legend. Very well then, do hear the tale till the end.

She was never a Fallen Angel in the beginning.

She was originally a Guardian Angel, the Protector of 'God's Incarnate' – as the people once called him – a man endlessly kind, forever giving, ever so faithful.

He believed in God with all his might, just as the Angel did – heeding to only His orders to watch over this man and keep him safe.

She, the Guardian Angel, quietly protected this man in her own way. Her halo used to silently connect to crown of his head as she provided him strength in the battlefield... even when his sweat mixed with the river of blood he had created with his sword.

As he gasped for air, confused as to why his hands were stained with sins and blood, the Angel sobbed in his stead. As he looked up at the stars, wondering why his fate was to kill his brothers, the Angel held him close to wipe his tears. As he sat on the gold throne, laughing maniacally whilst holding his abusive father's severed head, she crowned him the King.

Is he really that man I once knew? she once pondered helplessly.

Only later did she find out that God was unsatisfied with this mortal being called His Incarnate – truly, how dare the people compare this puny human to God Himself?

This imprudent man shall be punished with several layers of Hell!

Therefore... power, authority and greed consumed her Master, the man she was bound to.

She was cast down to the sinful land of the Earth when she tried to ascend to the Heavens after the King's death.

She, however, couldn't help but to complain when God dragged her on cracked ice, chains restricting her movements, her back bleeding due to the lack of her beautiful white wings.

She dared to oppose His will, she dared to question His decision, she dared to doubt his just choice – truly, how dare this white-winged lady do this?

This imprudent Angel shall be punished with several sins of Hell!

"I was just obeying you, my Lord... dear God, why am I being admonished?"

The seed of regret...

"God, why was I tasked with a sinner, as you call him, whilst all the other Angels were forgiven?"

...It soon grew into envy...

"My Lord... I... do not feel the devotion as I had once felt for you. My white feathers torn, my halo seized... very well then, if that is how you shall be, why shall I hold back?"

...Then it bore the fruits of revenge.

Her beautiful face caked with mud and dried blood, her wings and halo snatched, her eyelashes drenched due to her pain, the Angel took her decision.

She shall obey His will.

She shall forever be bound to that tyrannical King who committed a crime against God.

She shall protect that dead man and his achievements, just as she was instructed to, for as long as eternity lasts.

And so, though a Fallen Angel, she yet strived to protect her King's achievements, his land that he had won after a terrible and frightful war.

Heaven now was another forgotten home for her. She had been trapped in an underground tunnel which she later made her personal abode. She spent all her time writhing in her regret, screaming in her envy and swearing her revenge.

It is said that she is still there.

Crying due to regret. Hurting due to envy. Plotting due to revenge.

And, even now, as she slowly turns into a demon, an unholy beast, she shall keep her promises.

Legend says that this Angel who lived in the depths of the Angel Underground Station, the 'Fallen Angel' is still protecting her King's land, Britain, watching over the people – even if God may not have forgiven her if she had begged and her Master may not have forgiven her if he had lived, she'd still complete the duties she was created to fulfill.

If you ever find that Monster, please wipe her stinging tears which never cease to fall.

I had to do some research on the types of Angels, and when I read of the 'Fallen Angels', inspiration struck me!

At first, the Angel was to be evil (which also would have been interesting), but for some reason, an Angel turning in a Monster felt like a better idea.

I also had this small plan to have an Archangel turn into a Guardian Angel and then into a Fallen Angel, but oh well, I just felt that an Archangel would rather have her master killed than defy God's will, considering they are the most trusted ones given delicate tasks.

Thereafter, I struggled considerably with the descriptions and the storyline itself, had a major Writer's Block, but I've finally managed to make a story that satisfies me!

I simply love these prompts, especially the ones @AmbassadorsUK always comes up with that makes my brain switch to serious thinking mode!

Thank you!
