55.

"See who's looking like a goddess, baby!" Ivy said after applying my lipstick.

It was finally the day of our prom. Everyone in our school and other schools having theirs too today have been talking about it throughout the week.

Including my friends.

Cody called me earlier, he was going to pick me at 6:30 since it started by 7.

I was currently in Ivy's room, where they were both helping me get ready.

"You're gonna blind everyone with this extreme beauty, Stallion," Kelly teased.

"Just like the way I did during mine,"  Ivy replied and winked.

"Like. I can't believe you're leaving me behind so soon," Kelly said, helping me to get my heels.

"You want me to remain there with you, huh?"

"If possible, yeah," she playfully replied.

"Too bad that shit ain't possible," I said.

"Kelly, get ready because in a few years time, you would be the one on this very seat," Ivy informed.

"The hell, no! I'm not gonna let you paint all this stuff all over my face," Kelly argued.

"Oohh, I guess we'll see about that," Ivy simply replied but I knew that there was more to that. Ivy will surely get what she wants and I doubt Kelly has anything to do about that even if it's her face.

She finished with my face and my hair before taking a few steps back to get a good view of me.

"All done! Now you can walk over to the mirror and behold my skills, baby," Ivy said as Kelly helped me get up.

When I was balanced enough on my white heels, I walked to the mirror and damn! I look good.

I know this wasn't my first time looking this good but it had been a long time.

The dress I had bought earlier looked fabulous on me.

It was an off-shoulder royal blue long flay gown with a side high split.

I may not be the best looking girl tonight but atleast I could make a few jaws drop.

My mom opened the door of Ivy's room unnanounced, it looked like she wanted to say something but she just stared at me.

"Darling, you're looking gorgeous," she said, walking towards me and using her thumb to rub slightly against my cheek.

"Thanks mom."

"You remind me so much of 'little me'," she said with a huge grin on my face.

"And yeah...Cody is already here to pick you up," she said, that smile still dominant on her face.

I nodded before dragging my purse from the bed and making attempts to leave.

Ivy's room was already downstairs so I didn't need to struggle with the stairs.

"Oh...my girls are growing so fast," my mom said from behind and I could imagine her pinching Kelly and Ivy's cheeks.

I walked slowly out of the room and notice Cody sitting beside my dad.

I wonder all the questioning the poor boy had to endure but at least my parents could  recognize him since he used to come over for homework those times.

Their eyes shot towards me and maybe Cody's eyes lingered a little longer before a small smile drew on his face.

My dad stood up and so did Cody.

He patted me softly on my head before slightly cupping my chin.

"My little baby is looking sweet tonight," he said and I couldn't help but grin widely.

This is too much compliment for one day.

"So yeah, you two can leave now," he said before turning towards Cody.

"Take care of my daughter, make sure nothing bad happens her. Get her back home before eleven....and don't think of doing anything to her...or with her--"

"Dad!" I yelled, feeling a bit uncomfortable by what he was insinuating before walking past him and dragging Cody out of the house.

"I'll be fine okay, I'm not going to go missing, I'm not going to get too drunk neither am I going to get laid. I'll be back early so you don't need to worry so much about me, okay? Bye!" I said before banging the door close.

When the door was closed, I turned to see Cody staring at me.

"What?" I asked, playfully hitting him on his chest which had surprisingly gotten broader and stronger over the years.

"You...you look...beautiful," he said.

"Awwn thanks, you don't look so bad yourself," I replied.

"Yeah...thanks," he said, still staring at me.

We just stood there for a little while in utter silence.

"I think we should be going now," I said, breaking the weird silence and walking towards where his car was packed.

"Ofcourse," he replied, following suit.

*

Our school hall looked absolutely different today. It was switched to like a party mode.

The main lights were dim, then there were variety of colored lights flashing here and there, giving it that...spirit.

The background music was playing but you can hardly hear it admist all the noise and chattering around.

Almost every one were looking their best in their dresses and tuxedos.

Even those you least expect.

I was stylishly trying to spot my friends around and just as Cody turned to speak with few of his friends, I quickly greeted them and excused myself.

I spotted Jace sitting on one of the tables and I know that it wasn't going to take too long to find Lorinda.

As expected, I saw her walk towards him and sit down beside him, her dress looked as beautiful as she did tonight.

It was almost like mine but a little bit more classy, it was a darker shade of yellow with a single offshoulder sleeve, a high split and a black and silver belt fastened around her waist.

I wanted to atleast go say hi but it seemed like they were both into whatever they were talking about.

"Shawty!" I heard someone yell between all the music and noise.

And I could tell who it was.

I turned and saw Maddie and Roxie towards me.

The single girls train. Chu chu!

Maddie looked fabulous in a pink sleeveless short flay dress that had a feathery kind of design at the sleeve area with bits of glitters on it.

And Roxie was another definition of hot in her lacy, low neck line dress with a high split and silver glitters at the upper part.

"We'd been trying to get your attention for ages," Maddie complained.

"Yeah...my voice almost wore out. I'd been literally screaming like a crazy person," Roxie continued.

"Yeah...I'm also very happy to see you guys too," I replied sarcastically.

"Okay, we're sorry for overreacting. Did you just get here?" Maddie asked.

"Yeah. Kinda," I replied.

"Your lover boy hasn't showed up yet?" Roxie informed.

"Stop it! He's not my loverboy," I snapped back.

"Who said I was talking about Tim, I can tell he's in your head," she said.

"He's not...maybe he's in your head, that's why you keep teasing me with him all the time,"  I argued.

"Oh...you really think I'm interested in him?" Roxie shot back.

"Hey...you two should stop fighting over a guy," Maddie interrupted.

"We're not fighting over a guy!" Roxie and I yelled at the same time.

"Great! Because he just walked in," Maddie informed and we looked towards the main entrance.

It was him looking as gorgeous as ever, dressed in a wine colored tuxedo, a black shirt and a wine colored  bowtie to go with it

And walking gracefully beside him was the almighty Clair, stealing the show with a sleeveless elegant free flowing dress of a similar colour.

It looked like they both dropped from heaven and I hate to admit that this but they really do look good together.

Attention was drawn towards them as they walked in slowly and confidently, hands entwined in each other's.

I suddenly jerked from my stare when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned immediately and I felt a bit relaxed when I figured out it was just Cody.

"I've been looking all over for you," he said.

"I'm sorry, I just sighted my friends and decided to have a few words with them.

I was puzzled and so was he when I realised that they were no longer close by.

"Oh...they were right here," I clarified.

"Okay...it's fine," he replied.

"Do you, wanna dance?" He asked and I nodded in reply before we walked towards the open space and his hands entwined with mine while the other rounded my waist.

"Have I mentioned how wonderful you look tonight," he said softly in my ear.

"Well...I think so," I whispered back.

We kept on dancing slowly for a few while before I spotted Roxie a few feets way, flirting with a random guy.

Seems like she really meant what she'd said...

Two chapters and an epilogue to go.
