Just the sight of him caused different emotions to pass through me.
He betrayed me and he still had the guts to show his face.
"You two should make it quick, don't try to do anything stupid," She said before leaving and shutting the door.
Stupid? I wonder what she meant by that because there was no way anything stupid could happen here...
Unless except me killing him..
He stood up from his sitting position.
"Hey--"
"What are you doing here?" I spat.
"Stella--"
"Don't ever call my name! Just get out! I don't want to see you...ever!" I shouted at him.
"Stella, would you just listen to me!" He yelled back at me.
I froze and my mouth got shut with immediate effect.
He shouted at me. This wasn't the first time though. I would have seen this coming.
"I didn't mean to--"
"Ofcourse you didn't," I replied sarcastically, my voice thin and fainter than I expected with my gaze, down to the floor.
"Happy birthday," he greeted and I remained quiet, completely snubbing him.
"You know, you're an adult now, you really shouldn't still be thinking and reacting like a child anymore," he said.
"Oh....now, you're insulting me, huh?" I retorted.
He frustratingly ran his fingers through his hair.
"And she does it again..." He muttered.
"Bye then,' I said turning my back on him, and walking back towards the door I came in from.
I heard faster footsteps towards me until I felt a tight grip on my arm.
He swirls me around till I was facing him, a very threatening distance between us.
He was looking down at me, straight into my eye.
Those blue orbs.
The scene that happened the other night on the beach replayed in my head and I flinched away from him already loose grip.
I blinked quickly and averted my gaze away from his eyes.
Remember how much you hate him.
"Stella," he called out, his voice calmer, this time. My name rolling out of his lips so fluently.
I ignored him.
"Do you ever think I'll just choose to break my promise?" He continued.
I ignored him again, folding my arms and looking at the tiled floor like it was suddenly the most fascinating artifact in the world.
He walked a few steps foward and placed one of his hands gently on my shoulder and my body couldn't help but feel the warmth from him.
"I promised to help you in any way I can, right?" He said to me.
"Yeah...help, don't forget I'm rotting in jail here," I replied sarcastically.
He removed his hand from my shoulder and I couldn't help but feel the absence of his warmth, like that area was suddenly bare.
"Jail? Stella, you're in a Juvenile Detention Centre," he opposed.
"What's the difference?" I retorted quickly.
"The difference is that you're not in jail...Stella!" He argued back.
What point was he trying to make?
"I mean...you're an adult now, you should be able to figure this out."
"Hey! Don't use my age to say anything stupid about me, you're just the one being abstract!"
"Hey, calm down, I didn't mean to get you this angry," he said.
Oh, So he wanted to make me angry but not this angry.
"Seeing your face is enough to make me angry," I replied.
"What's today, Stella?" He asked.
He should really stop calling my name like that, it does affect me in a different kind of way.
"Which kind of question is that?" I retorted.
"Just answer it."
"My birthday...every fuckin' person knows that," I replied.
"Exactly! Not just any birthday...your eighteenth birthday...the day you become an adult, the day you officially become a full citizen and the day which indicates that you have a ticket to years in jail when you're confirmed to have commited a crime....especially the one as serious as murder," he stated.
Is this really making sense to me.
"See...I know I messed up okay....but I just had to do what I did, that was the only way I thought I could help at that point in time," he continued.
"Sorry...what are you talking about?" I asked, my voice breaking and my mind filled up with curiosity.
"Let's sit," he suggested.
I looked from him to the chair and back to him.
Am I seriously considering sitting down and having a talk with him after what he'd done?
But he claims that he was just helping.
It doesn't just add up.
I walked towards the chair and sat on it while he sat on the one beside mine and twirled on it in a way that he was facing me.
There was a moment of uncomfortable silence.
"Remember the day...that day that we were to delete that video from Cheryl's phone?"
Cheryl. That name caused a pang of pain in my chest.
"Which you didn't," I snapped.
He ignored my comment.
"Well...I wanted too but I decided to do a little check on the video. Cheryl is a smart girl...I know that because we've been close friends once. Do you think she'll save a video that important to her in just one file? Or in just one device?"
Cheryl and him had been close friends. I don't really know why I was suddenly affected by this newfound information.
"Cheryl must have transferred the video into more than one device," I reasoned.
"Yes...and it was confirmed. And that is why deleting it from just her phone can't completely destroy it because she'll still have other copies," he explained.
I was kind of seeing logic in what he was saying.
"Who knows what she had installed for you, she could use that video and play with you mentally and emotionally, blackmail you to any extent. But don't you think she'll still release it if she really wants too?"
"See....Cheryl was waiting...waiting for this very day...the day you fully become an adult...November 21st...who knows, she could edit the video herself, turn it into something worse than it actually is and release it into the public, then maybe it'll run viral and that will make everything worst Stella, because you wouldn't just be staying in a Juvenile Detention Centre for five months...you could be rotting in jail for years," He continued.
I was frozen at a point. I'm really dumber than I thought
"I had to transfer the video to my phone and ofcourse send it through an anonymous account privately to the principal...I'm sorry, but that was the only thing I could think of. I know you needed help...but sometimes paying squarely for your crime was just the best help you needed...I'm sorry, I couldn't think of anything else because even if it doesn't now, the truth will still be out one day...In a way you wouldn't like it, so instead of living in fear all your life and with all that guilt in your heart, isn't it better for you to just pay for it once and for all and live a normal life once again?"
Pay for it and live a normal life once again.
He really thinks I could still live a normal life after this.
Without thinking, I protruded foward and enclosed him in a hug.
My tears already soaking into his shirt.
I'll probably regret this later though but I couldn't hold back.
I never saw things through this angle...he truly really cared but I chose to hate him and relish my anger on him because of my naivety.
I couldn't feel his arms and I suddenly felt scared, for the fact that he'll regect me...again.
Maybe he didn't want us to be friends anymore...
"You're going to be fine,' he said before wrapping his hands around me and I could feel the warmth radiating from him, neutralising the the coldness of the room.
The door busted open and we broke the hug with immediate effect to see the rude short woman that brought me in earlier standing in front of the door with arms folded in front of her.
"Boyfriend time is up birthday girl, time to go back to your damn cell," she spat.
This woman annoys the crap out of me.
I mean...he's not even my boyfriend...
"Bye, then" he finally said before standing up from the chair.
"Bye, I said doing the same.
I walked as quickly as I could out of the place and I couldn't do anything about the large grin plastered on my face.
He just gave me one of the best birthday gift I could ever ask for.
The feeling that I'll be able to live a normal life once again.
Timothy Stones...My blonde mysterious hero.
