Chapter Sixteen

Breia

I watched my two brothers dance within the air, graceful yet violently.
Fist were swung, blows were dodged, some connected making me gasp each time Manakel would bring harm to my true brother.
They didn't seem to faze Bryce but they terrified me. The Archer was far more powerful than Bryce, older and more experienced in battling midflight but Bryce  was holding his own.
When they were out of sight is when my worry grew.
Brylee was still unconcious and the lifeless body next to me was beginning to make me uncomfortable.
I realized, far too late, that I may have taken things too far. But I truly didn't mean for any harm to come to the girl.
That hadn't been my agenda when I pushed them together.
I had only wanted my brother to see things differently. To see that maybe things weren't perfect in Paradise.
There was something seriously wrong with the Archer.
His demented reasoning was why we were all here. Why Aubrey was dead-murdered- and her friend was fighting for her life.
I shook Brylee, praying she was just ill from trauma. She didn't wake and I slid both of our bodies away from the blood poling from Aubrey.
The slight rosiness of her cheeks was slowly  vanishing and her skin paled.
I knew if I touched her, she'd be ice cold but I didn't. I didn't even want to look at her.
Looking around myself I wondered where the nights people were. We weren't far from the hospital and the park was never secluded, to see no one passing was strange but lucky.
We would all be in deep trouble if someone witnessed any of this.
Not that they would believe any of it.
Soon Bryce and the Archer returned, slamming into each other, causing loud cracking in the night sky and again I couldn't help but think how sorry I was that it had come to this.
Both men were nearly indisctrucable, but the dagger Manakel used, was lethal to them both. If one had gotten a hold of the  Bane, an angel blade the other would certainly die.
I prayed it didn't come to that but if it did I hoped it would be in my brothers favor.
