Chapter 5: Time Is What You Need, So Time Is What I'll Give.

Song: Adore you by Harry Styles.

The weekend shot passed pretty quickly and Monday came. The first day of my senior year in high school also known as the beginning of the end. The beginning of endless homework and school projects and the end of our freedom.

"Okay mom I'm off to school." I said as I kissed my mother on her cheek and headed out the front door.

I put my helmet on and drove off to school.

...

I pulled up into Greenwood's driveway and the first thing I thought was "What the hell am I doing here again?"

But that thought was gone as soon as I saw her.

She was dressed casually in a blue jeans and white t- shirt as she walked into our school's front entrance. Man, did she look good in everything.

I walked in after her and tried to catch up.

Soon I caught up with her and matched her strides.

"Hey." I started.

"Oh, hi Alaric." She said with a soft smile. Baby, please say my name again.

"Alaric." Luna shook me from my state.

"Uh yes sorry I zoned out for a second."

"I asked if you-"Luna started but was cut off by Maisey,

"Alaric, just the guy I was looking for."

Maisey was talking but her pointless words were faded out by Luna smiling at me.

She cringed in a jokingly manner as Maisey kept on talking. She's funny and cute.

"Alaric are you even listening to me?!"

As soon as Maisey's sentence finished the bell rang indicating that admin has started, so we all have to get to class.

"Maisey I really need to get to class now." I said, grabbed ahold of Luna's hand and walked away.

"Saved by the bell." Luna joked.

...

This is awkward for us all, I remember when I started highschool and had to do an introduction about myself.

I gave Luna a reassuring nod as she stood in front of our class and of course everyone was paying attention.

A group of girls were whispering in the corner as they stared at Luna and all the guys eyes were on her.

I'd poke all of their eyes out if I could.

"Hello everyone. I'm Luna Graciela Santos. I'm 17 and I'm from Venezuela." She said and let out a breath.

"Well Welcome to Greenwood Luna."Mr. Reagan said and Luna nodded.

"There is an open seat for you behind Mr Anderson." Mr Reagan gestured behind me. Am I lucky or what?

She walked passed me and sat at her table.
I couldn't help but to turn my chair around to face her table.

I rested my elbows on her desk and said, "Hey."

She giggled and replied,"Hey."

She situated herself the same way I did but rested her chin on her arms as she stared right back at me.

I felt like I was in a different world when I was with her. We didn't even have to do anything to make me feel that way. I could just gaze at her and it'll happen. That great feeling that I just can't explain.

Luna's eyes moves away from mine and a confused expression is plastered on her face. I turn around to see something I wasn't expecting.

Felix coming in late to class as usual, but this time he looks like a mess. He looks like he was beat up by a gang or something.

He spots Luna and fear washes over his face. He hurriedly walked to his seat and faces down, not making eye contact with anyone. Okay this is weird.

"I wonder what happened to him." Luna whispers.

"I thought you'd know." I say.

"Why would you think that?" She asks.

"He looked like he saw a ghost the moment he saw you."

"Really, but honestly I don't know anything."

"I believe you. It's just weird."

...

Before classes started I asked Luna if I could see her class schedule, but she didn't want me to. I wanted to see it so that I could know which classes we have together and when I'll see her again, but of course Luna being Luna still didn't want me to. She said that it "keeps the mystery alive."

We're 3 classes through already and I still haven't seen her.

My next class is English so she has to be there.

Once the bell sounded I practically ran to my English class.

I got there early so I was the only one in class.

I sat down in my seat and not long after Luna stepped in.

She had this smirk on her face.

"Are you the only one in here?" She asked and I nodded, then she pushed the door slightly closed.

I stood up abruptly, "Luna, what are you doing? Anyone could walk in."

"What's wrong Alaric? You're assuming again. I just closed the door. What's wrong with that?" She said playfully as she walked towards me.

She set her bag down on the table next to mine and crossed her arms over her chest as she stared up at me, smiling.

"Luna, what are you doing?" I asked.

She moved closer to me and asked, "Alaric what do you want me to do?"

Our proximity made me shudder.

"L-Luna I-"

The door opened and students started filling their seats.

I sat down but Luna was still standing and bit her lip to keep in her laugh. She then sat down next to me.

Soon after Mr. Thomas arrived our English lesson began.

...

Not long after, the bell rang signalling the end of the lesson. Everyone stormed out quickly for lunch.

I packed my things and waited for Luna as she packed up hers. She slung her bag over her shoulder and then looked at me and smiled. My heart just did cartwheels.

She moved closer and placed her hands on my chest. I responded by placing my hands around her waist, pulling her closer. By now everyone has left class.

She leaned in and our lips made contact. I kissed her slowly. Her hands trailed up my chest and landed over my shoulders. She moaned into the kiss and I bit her lip. I wish that this could keep going, but we might get caught.

"Luna...we need...to stop." I said in between kisses.

She pulled away and looked at me.

"Fine, but come to me after school?"

I struggled to keep the smirk off my face, but I couldn't.

"Okay." I said and pecked her plump lips.

....

"Alaric wait, try this." Luna said as I was about to pop fries into my mouth.

She opened her bag, and took out a smaller brown paper bag then handed it to me.

I looked at her with curiosity as I took the bag. I opened it, looked down and a smile crawled onto my face. It's a cupcake and it smells so good. It smells like coffee.

I removed it from the bag and brought it up to my mouth. I took a decent bite out of it and it tasted incredible.

"It's a cappuccino infused chocolate cupcake. My abuela's(grandmother's) recipe." She smiles.

I just about finished my cupcake. "It's amazing Luna." I smiled and she giggled.

"You have a little something here." She gestures to the corner of her mouth.

"Did I get it?" I asked and she laughed then moved closer.

Her lips kissed the corner of my mouth, then moved to kiss me and I kissed her. Suddenly, I didn't have a care in the world of who might have been watching us.

I loved how Luna made her feelings for me known, so who was I to hide my reciprocated feelings.

She tasted so sweet. Every time we kissed I just became lost in this world of her...of Luna.

But, I knew that this moment would be cut short once I heard Armando's voice.

"Enough now love birds. Luna can we talk?" Armando asks and Luna rolled her eyes at him.

"Whatever you want to say, you can say now Armando." She said and looked up at him.

What happened next left we baffled a bit.

Armando gave Luna this daring look as if to say Do you really want me to speak?

Luna cleared her throat and then stood up. "Alaric I'll be right back." She said and walked off with Armando. She looked worried.

What couldn't he say in front of me?
What didn't she want him to say in front of me?

Maybe they...

NO Alaric, you can't think like that.

...

The bell rang signaling that lunch break was over, but Luna still didn't come back.
So I decided to head to class. For the rest of the school day, I didn't see Luna. I walked out of the school and headed towards my motorbike. I climbed onto it, but I couldn't just leave not knowing where she is. So I decided to call her. It rang...and rang...voice mail. Great. Then, I waited. But she never came.

It has been an hour already and the school parking lot is cleared out already. I revved up the engine and then headed home.

...

"Hi mom." I greeted with a kiss on her cheek.

"Hi sweetie. You're late. School was supposed to be out an hour ago." She said.

"I was waiting for Luna. She left suddenly so I was worried. Mom, I'll go see if she's at home. She didn't pick up my calls either." I said and ascended up the stairs.

"Okay, but drive safely honey."

I put my back onto my bed and took my phone out to check if there aren't any replies from Luna.

But to my disappointment, none.

I slipped on my jacket and headed out.

I'm really worried now. Where can she be? Is she okay? What happened after she left with Armando?

I came to a stop in front of her house and quickly marched up towards her front door. I gave a few knocks, then the door opened.

I wave of relief washed over me once I saw her.

"Luna where have you been? I've been worried sick." I walked in and hugged her, holding her closely. "Don't disappear on me like that again, okay?"

"Armando? Luna, what is he doing here?" I asked and broke our hug. I looked at her straight in the eyes as she took a moment to carefully choose her words.

"Umm, he just... He told me about what you did that night. He told me that you saved me from Felix. That Felix wanted to take advantage of me, but you stopped him. Thank you." She said.

Armando stood up from the couch and headed towards us. "I'm on my way. I'll see you tomorrow Graciela." He said and kissed her on the forehead.

She opened the door for him and walked him out. Before they were a good distance away, I could hear her thank him for something, but I couldn't quite get it.

Luna returned and locked the front door. She took a deep breath, then a drawn out exhale before turning around to face me.

"Luna what was that about?" I asked.

"I told you. He told me all about what happened that night. Armando beat up Felix and told him never to come close to me ever again." She said. She looked a bit down.

"Well that explains something. Luna you know you can tell me anything. I'm here for you okay."

A small smile made its way onto her mouth and she looked up at me.

"I know." She sighed and placed herself in my arms.

All I could do was comfort her, because I knew forcing her to tell me what's really going on would make things worse. I'll wait until she's ready.

If only I knew how long that wait would be and the damage it would cause...
